- Chad's been back to Spain to ride the new Triumph Scrambler 1200 XE and X, we still prefer the looks of the XE but get the accessibility of the X. We can't wait to get the XE back to the UK to let Chris loose with it, look out Wales! #triumph #triumphscrambler #triumphofficial

Good to see a manufacturer not just adding spec and price every year! Well done Triumph (and Chad)
😮
@@Chad76Media he’s got on the internet!
@@timrodierides feeling the love
Was way overpriced previously when you could buy an Africa Twin, a much better bike, for the same money.
I bought a '19 Scramber 1200XE and still love it. Living in Colorado the bike has been on roads that I had no business being on but it makes you feel like you can do it with the power to climb anything, suspension travel and clearance. It's been tipped over countless times, never left me stranded and gets looks everywhere I go.
I'm not an off-road rider (sport-tourer here), and I couldn't 'scramble' for the life of me, but the Srambler XE, especially in its prior incarnation (something about seeing Ohlins on that bike, for one thing), really appeals to me. Thanks for the rundown!
Yep, that smaller one still has that awesome engine, and a lot of the refinements of the XE.
I test drove the smaller X version, and was super impressed with the engine and the overall feel of the bike.
I ordered the XE version for myself because I will be taking it off road, and the seat height fits me better.
Triumph has an amazing array of accessories for both the bikes, some of it purely functional, and some of it merely decorative.
Building out the exact bike you want on-line can get pretty interesting, and expensive.
Happy Trails
The mono sold me!!
She can handle the messy dirt roads & for me that is most likely all I need, although I have seen the X handle some steep rocky tracks.
Great review.
The now discontinued XC is for me the real goldilock, long travel top spec suspension but not too tall for me, cruise control, etc... The incoming models are still lovely bikes but whilst the prices are lower, I am sure the margins are also bigger, the downgrades from the XC to the X are quite significant in particular.
They both look excellent. I wish I could still ride but I can’t.
Trailies were my choice of ride always but that was many moons past.
I think it is a good move to drop the Öhlins. The majority of the target audience for this type of bike can’t feel/use the difference anyway.
That's what the low end X model is for. The XE should keep the better parts.
I had one of the first 1200XE and the Ohlins are the reason I sold it, I absolutely hated it, it was the most uncomfortable bike I've ever tried :P I'd be willing to give this new one a go, as I loved the rest of the bike.
@@SpeedytripSame here. If the damping actually works this time around I’ll buy the XE.
@@daveo9844 Yeah a lot think anything that has the Ohlin sticker is pure gold. To this day, I have never ridden an ohlin equipped bike that was remotely comfortable and the XE was the most uncomfortable of them all. I sold an africa twin to buy the 1200XE and after having 2 suspension shops go through the XE (respring, revalve) it was better but not good enough, I gave up and sold it to buy another africa!
@@SpeedytripI’m curious why you hated it? I’m looking at a XE in the future and some say the older suspension was better than the 2024 version…. I a big fat guy and wondered if I needed the higher spec version?
I like that they have gone back to a real key but think I'll be keeping my 2022 XE.
Must buy Motorcycles Triumph.Great styling and Happy riding quality motorcycles.i liked your video 🎉
Can you do this type of review for scrambler 400x? Please?
We will be, we'll be riding it in January.
Wieghts the same as my old 2007 gs.
Great review and particularly interesting in the shorter rider version,,as most put me off not flat footing them my IT 425 I had many years ago,,but it wasn't 230 kg and basic as you can get 😮☘️☘️☘️☘️☘️ from northern Ireland probably not be off road on a £12000 pound motorcycle,,,but some people do 👍👍👍
This or a nice second hand Desert Sled ? 😅
Love them
They will be a lower seat option for the xe though id have thought
What happened with the Himalayan Review? I think I saw the video on my feed, but now I am not able to find it on the channel.
The full review's not done yet, we're working on a bigger more detailed vid.
@@BikeWorldTVshow okay 👍
I am eagerly waiting for it.
I thought this was a good review, stating the features of both models and the differences which is the whole point of it👍😀
I have a Street Scrambler and have yearned for a 1200 version for some time. The 1200 X could be it. At 6'3" it's not the low seat that appeals, it's the more retro look and better road manners.
Quite a few comments on here from "sticker men", obviously not happy to see the Ohlins badge replaced with Marzzochi. Who cares what the badge is so long as the bike delivers!
5:15 whattttttttt 😂
Apparently, its more accessible :-p
Yep, get it!
Long live the key ❤
Good looking bike, would like to try offroad
Specs from the 400x!! Is it worth 4x the price?
does the exhaust still burn your leg or is it ok now?
Why is it there an expectation that those of us with shorter legs don't want the top spec kit?
You don't need two feet down to ride a bike. Just buy the XE, which most don't even use to do what it is made to do. I got the XC, because my intentions are to ride the way the XC is made to be ridden.
Either get the XE and off-road or buy the X to pretend you go off-road. Simple as.
Well, it’s not an expectation, it’s just the reality of top spec, long travel suspension making the bike taller.
I would choose i XE anyday
X looks more retro and would be my choice ........ XE looks great but modern, so maybe Tiger would be better choice
So you could use the XE for long distance riding through a country or something? With 2 riders and and baggage?
You could, you might want some sort of mini screen though.
Reup?
Yep, there was an issue.
I’m not sure, but I think chad prefers the smaller one 😂
Lowering the seat height may make a bike more accessible for shortarses but does the opposite for man size people over 6'2.
I have a 2022 XC and it developed an engine knocking noise after an oil change.
Lots of others have complained about this engine noise.
Watch RUclips videos on this to research it yourself.
Beware !
I love my scrambler but this engine noise is horrible, and very concerning.
Yep! That’s just Triumph saving money again🤷🏼♂️
Why buy over a speed twin? Specs are much better than 400x at under 6k USD
"cheap" I'm happy for you to call it cheap.
I would ride someone else’s off road, but not mine…😊
Sir, how tall are you?
He's about 4'6"
I believe you meant 5'6'' right :D? thank you though @@timrodierides
I meant 3'6" 😂@@06seul18
I would buy this if it had DCT. I'm so spoiled with the DCT in my Africa Twin not sure I could ever ride anything else again
Probably forget how to ride a non orthopaedic bike.
Only honda have dct
I have the scrambler 900, and one of the reasons why I love it so is the analogue gearbox: no qs, no dct, old school rev matching for the win
all i want is a bike like this with cable throttle and no stupid abs crap. if motorcycle companies wonder why a large segment of the riding community doesn't even walk into a dealership anymore and sticks to used motorcycles, this is why. i get most new riders have been sold the bill that they need that crap, but all it does it make a bike ride worse and feel disconnected from the rider
Because you want a less safe bike so you are far more likely to crash?
What's the point of having such a heavy scrambler ?
easy..dont want an ADV bland bike and I ride on british A roads. 8 inch potholes, seams, the odd animal carcass we get it all. The 21inch front makes sense to me.😊
If I may provide a piece of constructive criticism, this video is exceedingly repetitive. Could have done with better editing imo.
Thanks for that.
Dashboard always so ugly….
A 230kg "scrambler", no thanks...
I wonder if there'd be a way to retain that engine but being weight drastically down
@@themoderncaferacer2264yeah it is va Ducati scrambler 170 kg
Adventure bikes are modern "scramblers" minus nostalgic look. And they are all weight around 230kgs.
I've not seen a 1200cc bike of any kind that is light.
Weak knee's
I'm not going to ride offroad, so the X would be perfect, as in I'd have gone out tomorrow and bought it... except you cannot spec it with cruise control. The road focused version. Stupidity.
Lost a sale here too as no CC 🙄
Um, no, Triumph riders invented scramblers in th '60. The company only copied McQueen & many others....
Wrong. Greeves were building scramblers from the mid 50's.
What a BS review. Would have happily paid the extra $$ for the Ohlins. The used market just went up
Why’s it our fault?
@@BikeWorldTVshow Your job is to give an honest review not produce a commercial for the manufacturer. I don’t believe for a minute you agree with these changes. As a Triumph owner of a Thruxton RS and a Scrambler XC (first edition), we both know the direction Triumph is moving in and it isn’t going to be fun
@@jjames2162 I doubt you’d even notice the difference apart from the colour and the Ohlins sticker.
@@BikeWorldTVshow you missed the point. I’m the demographic for this bike. 800$ isn’t going to change my mind except unless I think the manufacturer isn’t giving me good value. Triumph still has an expensive bike, it just offers less value now in terms of components/ performance but still costs a lot.
As to your argument- Jeep still puts off-road tires on the wrangler even though most people don’t go off roading. Porsche still puts the best performance parts on their cars even though most 911s sit in a garage.
Triumph is hedging their bottom line and masquerading it as being good for the buyer. It’s BS. Triumph isn’t Harley Davidson meaning that they charge excessive prices for no frills bikes. Triumph makes great bikes but now are moving toward economy parts while guys like you tell us the consumers they are doing us a favor - that’s wrong
