Byf.. Bungie should hire you to work with the implementation of lore in Destiny 2. I'm convinced you'd do a much better job than they had for Destiny 1. My god this was brilliant.

People don't give them enough credit for this. Yeah vanilla's story wasn't good and TTK still needed a better cast than just Cayde-6 but the world that Bungie has constructed is unparalleled.
Essentially what i'm doing is the equivalent of what Vaatividya does for the souls games. The story is unclear but there are hints and clues scattered around for those that wish to find them. Connect all of those dots and an amazing tapestry of the world starts to patch itself together.
I admit it's not perfect. I've said for the longest time that grimoire needs to be a part of the game somehow. But I think it's still very important not to mistake story telling and world building for the same thing. Destiny does poorly in the former but exceptionally well in the latter.
Having said all that... I mean if Bungie wants to hire me i'm all ears :P

I meant more along the lines of they have all this great story and a rich universe, yet it falls to people (like Byf) to tell it in an interesting, palatable way? Not stick it behind a system like Grimoire cards, which everyone can admit is a double edged sword. It was a good way to catalogue all the information in 1 place, but also was out of touch with the general player-base who probably would've loved to learn about the Destiny universe, but didn't want to buggerise around with such a detached (from the actual in-game) system.
I fully admit what I said was a bit daft, and as the expansions progressed, the story got better and better. Sorry to waste your time Byf.

I'm so happy. Saint-14 is my favorite character from Destiny's lore. As a titan, he's my hero. A true Titan that all others should aspire to be like.

This stories are so back that they are kept at the back of the game
The Reef Wars, which are only but a tiny piece of the game's lore, are already fantastic when it comes to world building.
The first time Queen Mara used the Harbingers would've been amazing if it was inserted into the game campaign.
"I am noble too, oh Lord of Wolves. Starlight was my mother. And my father was the Dark."
Then the lights go out, the Fallen (ironically) fall into fear and then BAM half their fleet and even Ceres itself are reduced to dust
I'm proud to wear this helmet. I wish there was an exotic skin that added blood splats and a dent in the helmet to depict the headbutt.

And I bet that most of Destiny's players have no idea about who Saint-14 even was, because this game doesn't teach you about the cool stories of Destiny, but only the boring ones. They should take the lore out of the Grimoire cards, and put it in the game.

Apathy agreed imagine if you could meet saint 14.
Apathy that was the plan, but last minute activision-bungie politics took over as the activision team decided to alter the story and screw around the bungie team too close to the release. The only way to have the lore accessible in any way was to write it in externally.
well I bet you most titans knew about him. I mean there is an exotic helmet called helm of saint-14 and a artifact called saint-14's ring. those 2 items got me into looking him up awhile ago
It's refreshing that Saint turned out to be a big teddy bear of an exo rather than just a blunt instrument.
Very fond of the fact that he's a big Russian bord lover that gives cookies to children and coos at his pigeons instead of being a gruff edgelord or anything. They did a good job with him.

Mark my words, Bungie didn't trash anything. What we found out about Destiny's story was too much to implement into one game, so it instead became the story we'll get over the course of the next ten years and five games, which is why so little happened in Destiny 1. I know it's wishful thinking, but I believe it.

This adds an unexplainable amount 'greatness' to me as a person. It makes me want to really be proud to be a Titan. I would like to hear about Lord Saladin, Lord Shaxx, and Commander Zavala and probably any/every Titan. It's just bring me to an 'awe', that feeling that you get when you feel it's part of your ancestry. Great video, keep them coming.

I don't know about You, but I've solo'd an archon priest, a hive monstrosity, the kell of winter, multiple bracus, valus, primus and even a dominus, multiple hive princes, a projection of a hive God king and multiple falleb machine gods. These all pale in comparison to the legendary brutality unleashed when I team up with the squad.

Does it ever explain how Gaurdians "die" for good?
I mean, don't ghosts just keep reviving them indefinitely?
if there isn't enough light in an area a ghost can't revive a guardian. it's also possible to kill a ghost while their trying to revive their guardian.
Zahi Abu Ramadan if the ghost has no light or is destroyed or if the guardian has no light eg taken by the hive then they can't revive
Zahi Abu Ramadan the ghost can die, for example, Caydes. And if the darkness outweighs the light, the ghost can’t revive the guardians.

byf should tell lore ever week during that week byf asks for fanart of the coinciding lore so he had more diverse better and more intensive lore.

I still remember watching this video when it came out, and now all these years later there's so many things that exist within the destiny world that once used to be nothing but legends and stories told on grimoire cards, seriously so cool. We've come so far and this story has grown into something so unfathomable in size and structure 🙏 Lightfall is in 1 week and it's weird to think we're in the endgame now; I remember coming home from highschool every day to play destiny for hours on end, some of the best times of my teenage years 😌 I was here at the start and I'll be here when it all ends just as so many others will be! I'll always be so grateful for Byf and Myelin games for giving us so much lore content over the years and adding so much depth to a game that was already so incomprehensibly vast in story. Cheers to lightfall and the beginning of the end ♥️

Yes, Hunters have Dredgen Yor and Shin Malphur
But remember, we have Saint-14, a stunnding symbol of how *getting a little deep here* us Guardians can overcome the darkness and walk by it, and Kabr- whom though went mad and eventually lost himself to the Vex; created the Relics so that future Guardians could defeat Atheon, and so we did.
I love all the classes, and im a huge Toland Fanatic- but Saint-14 to me is one of the most hopeful characters in Destiny Lore.

God, i hope someday they explain why all this stuff is the way it is. what purpose could erasing an exo's memories serve?
for that matter, if you can practically revive any guardian with an active ghost at any time, why and how can you not restore their memory?
No cause it would just be Saint-14 with his memory wiped. The number next to an exos name stands for the number of times they've had their memory wiped
the second question was aimed at the fact that all guardians have no memory of their previous lives.
Exos are unique in that they are apparently 'rebooted' multiple times. meeting a character named 'Saint 15' would be like meeting an acquaintance who had amnesia, i suppose.
GOD THIS LORE CONSISTS ONLY OF EPIC HALF STORIES AND VIRTUALLY NONSENSICAL AND UNEXPLAINED SOCIAL/PERSONAL/SCIENTIFIC/SPACE-MAGICAL BULLSHITTTERY.

Dude I never comment on youtube videos but I must commend you. Your voice suits what you do and you actually captured my attention the way you tell a story. This sounds good enough to turn it into a amazing movie even. Thanks for all the research and effort you put into this. I hope bungie takes note and even though this lore could all be found in "grimoire cards" you actually prove by making these videos that there is a lot more they could accomplish in telling their story of Destiny. I always saw exos as real people from the past that live on
why cant there be ai guardians in pve story campaigns. like i would enjoy if they added a new campaign but your characters mind moved into the mind of a guardian in the twilight gap or some battle or something in the past before you were created, for example if your a titan you do a campaign mission as a titan ex. saladin, zavala, saint-14, etc.

Crazy how far we’ve come since this. How much we have developed our relationship with saint & Osiris, truly remarkable characters. It’s so gratifying to see these characters not just as legends, but our peers as well now.
