Before meeting my wife, I was never a fan of golf but always loved watching the Masters tournament on the sports channels. I never understood the rules but I always understood the passion, the determined look on their faces, and the feeling of excitement seeing the ball disappear on the last hole of the tournament. Absolutely gorgeous course and amazing video.
The way that Augusta National reaches for perfection in this tournament, for the players and the fans, is unmatched in golf. St Andrews has more history, but it seems that the Masters has surpassed it in all other ways. The Open has the history, but the Masters has the best traditions. My favorite sports event for many years.
Augusta is just a lousy golf course that is owned by millionaires. Most likely they would not spit on you if you were on fire. The land could be put too much better use, like housing for immigrants.
