this is a good intro video, but any discussion for how to use the TAS must include at least some discussion in proper setup, the number 1 problem with the TAS is people not understanding the washers under the arm.

Nice work there. If I had to guess I'd say that machine costs about... $300.. okay $350. I mean, basic 6" disk grinder, two disks, with a nice pivoting arm on it. I click the link and it's like... more than double that. Hhhhwat in tarnation? Twice as nice? More like twice the price.

$700?!?! Nobody's gonna buy that. Too many moving parts, not to mention the outlay to fix a (sadly) now disposable tool. I've had surprising luck with a few youtube vids and some practice on a 1k stone. It's all about that second edge/bevel (the one this vid starts out on.)

This is a machine for professionals who are sharpening high volumes of scissors and shears. High-end hairdressing shears can cost several hundred dollars, same for high-end fabric shears. Sure, this machine is overkill for a homeowner sharpening their kitchen scissors, but that's not who it was designed for. The way this machine is streamlined for accurate, high-volume work is where it appeals to the professionals. If you're just sharpening the occasional pair of inexpensive scissors you can certainly use a cheap disk grinder or a whetstone.
