  • Back in the spring we were invited to hunt a site in southeast Louisiana and we had an incredible day. Here is a link to that video in case you haven’t seen it, • The Craziest Day We've... . This video finds us invited back to hunt this enormously rich and large site. It’s a multicultural site with many early Archaic artifacts. You just never know what is going to come out of the ground. The quantity and quality of the arrowheads that we found on this trip is mind blowing! Arrowhead hunting will never be the same after digging this site! We know you’re going to enjoy this video so please let us know what you think in the comments and if you do enjoy it please hit that thumbs up button.

You were blessed to be able to work this site directly behind Jeremy’s home. How generous of him and then to use his tractor to help. What a nice guy! The soil looks so easy to dig in too. This reminds me of when I was young...playing in the dirt with my brothers down by the creek. Wish I knew then what I know now. I would have had many more points and blades/tools than I do now. Great video guys and such lovely glamor shots Randy ! Also, thanks to the Indians from this area for leaving us their wonderful, hand-made works of art. 👏👏👏☺️👏👏👏

Thanks and thanks for the great question. We haven't dug on a site yet with soil that has been undisturbed. So the answer is yes and no. They come from different layers but it's all mixed up at times. Logging and land clearing by dozers pushing up tree stumps has jumbled a lot of the soil. We have found Paleo transitional points in the same layer as Mississippian points.

Man, how do you pic a favorite out of this one? Have to say, that pencil-drill was incredible, and that Ponchartrain at 27:50 just for the gorgeous flaking and how the color shaded; don't you know that the maker of that one admired it afterwards, over and over? :) They knew a beautiful thing when they saw it, same as us. *Amazing* day! Some absolutely beautiful source material for those points, too-- was that local, all those reds and creams and yellows? Gorgeous stuff! I had no idea Louisiana had flint/chert that pretty-- I'd knap that stuff and enjoy it. Loved that cute frog y'all were giving a shower, too.

    • @HeartbreakerRelics

Thanks for the great comment! One of the best qualities of gravel chert is it's color variations. It is a local chert. It's just river rock but it's about all they had to work with locally. The little toad is unusual. He doesn't look like the toads we normally see in this area.

@@justinicenhower9834 No problem. I was just curious about your point of view. We don't donate anything either. Everything goes into our private collections. Museums and colleges will take artifacts if you donate them but they really have no interest in anything they didn't dig "professionally". Many donated pieces end up back in private hands and in rare cases discarded.
