1. You should wear that top more often BTW. You look so good in that. It does highlight your assets, but not like the wrong way. Have this feeling you'd wanna be taller tho. But seen you standing up, and don't worry, You look so nice. I would ask you an a date if we would meet in real.
And what comes to the band you already know they are THE symphonic metal band. They defined that genre and everyone else has influenced by them. Within Temptation was formed same time that NW was. They (Temptation) was maybe year ahead NW.

Well said it that band has only honed its music for all the time... Singers can change and that all but it has all the time somehow gotten better. Bad thing that Hietala left though, he was kinda big part of this band and not a bad singer also.

Welcome to the world of symphonic metal! And thank you for checking this legendary band, performing here at Wacken Open Air (Germany) in 2013, together with Floor Jansen, the 3rd and present female singer of the band, in front of an 82K audience.
About the instrumental and vocal added parts - it's good to know they recorded their orchestral and vocal back tracks with prestigious institutions as London Philharmonic Orchestra. London's The Metro Voices choir group and London's Young Musicians Children's Choir as their regular partners.
Since this is your first Nightwish reaction, it is my duty to give you the [updated] short history of the band concentrated by Ann Waychoff, one of the biggest Nightwish fan who has since passed away (and I am doing this in her memory):
" Nightwish was started in 1996.They are considered a Symphonic Metal band, with a female main singer. They are from Finland.
Tuomas Holopainen, the keyboard player, composes and writes the lyrics for 95% of their music. [The 1st Bassist of the band was Sami Vanska, he was with them until 2001. The 2nd one was Marco Hietala, as Bassist and vocals, since 2001 to 2020. He recently announced his retirement both from the band and the public life for the next year at least - we'll see what the future brings to us. Then very recently (May 2021) Jukka Koskinen became the 3nd Bassist of the band, for at least the Human :II: Nature tour] And there is the guitarist Emppu Vuorinen . Then there is Troy Donockley from UK who is a multi-instrumentalist and vocals. Jukka Nevalainen is the drummer. In 2015 due to Jukka's health issues Kai Hahto became the drummer and as of now is a permanent addition.
Nightwish has had three singers. 1st one was Tarja Turunen (Operatic vocals). She was with them until 2005. The 2nd one was Anette Olzon from Sweden (Poppy, strong vocals). She was with them until 2012.The 3rd and current singer is Floor Jansen, from Netherlands (power, operatic, soprano.....most versatile) - you just heard her.
There are live concerts that you should use depending on what era. From Wishes to Eternity and End of an Era (Tarja), Montreux Festival live 2012 and Exit Festival (Anette), Live at Wacken 2013, Live at Wembley, Live at Tampere, Vehicle of Spirit, Decades live (Floor). I hope this helps.

Following the success of Beste Zangers show, Floor performed a series of solo concerts in the Netherlands in early 2020 with songs from her entire career (After Forever, Revamp, Northward, Nightwish, Beste Zangers) following that the last and the largest concert, at AFAS Amsterdam, to be professionally recorded and broadcast online, with the support of a crowdfunding campaign. Just FYI, that’s about 70 minutes into the show, and Floor had been killin’ it the whole way already. Also, that’s 82 THOUSAND people hanging on her every word; so, no pressure on her to Bury that (9 second long)high note.... At 6’1 and 170 pounds Floor is a smiling, singing, dancing, enchanting, stage commanding Valkyrie Goddess, and to me at least, a gift from above. Seeing the whole video of this concert, Especially the Floorgasm changed my life. It made me start listening to music again. I love watching these reaction videos and my biggest hope is that people follow and enjoy the Symphonic Metal path I was led to. Welcome to it.

Floor Jansen is The Valkyrie Goddess, and she is the great vocalist I have ever heard. Don't worry about her breathing, I have heard on good authority she takes a breath every Friday. This band is so great, beyond compare to any other band you have heard or ever will hear. Loved the reaction!

You can be excused. I liked Nightwish early on ('97?) . But when Annette became the singer, I slowly drifted away.
In January? 2014, autoplay was on [from a Within Temptation concert video], on YT , I was in the next room, cooking, & heard this angelic voice -it was GLS, from Wacken 2013, & my NW fandom was rekindled. :)

There really are no words for how incredible Floor is. Absolutely phenomenal talent. I have heard this song hundreds of times and I still get tears in my eyes when she hits the high note toward the end of the song.

Dear Bisscute, I enjoyed your reaction very much and especcially your surprised expression at your face. The name of the singer is Floor Jansen, she is Dutch, lives in Sweden with her husband and daughter en sings since 2012 in this Finnish band. Several years ago she sang in two another Dutch metalbands, called After Forever and Revamp so she is rather experienced.

To put it lightly, Floor has been singing since she was young -- and she has worked her butt off to get where she is. To put it mildly, I am going to give you a quote from Jedi Master Luke Skywalker:
"Talent without training is useless."
And thing is, you haven't even gotten into the composition genius of Tuomas Holopainen, the keyboardist and composer of Nightwish's music. Tuomas is so insanely talented that I, and many others, consider him to be the "Metal Mozart" for this age and generations. I have listened to many bands, even many composers, with all sorts of music, and I will say this: Tuomas stands out from many of them. Very few are able to evoke the emotion he does, and very few are able to pair classical movie-style music with a voice like Floor Jansen's. In doing so, magical rides like these have been created, and have become the very definition of the word "icon."
The ride that Nightwish will take you on will leave you breathless, in tears, happy, joyful...take your pick of emotions, because Tuomas and Floor will make you feel them through Nightwish's music. If there ever was a band that shows the whole spectrum of human emotion, Nightwish is it.

Great Reaction, follow Gabriel's list and you will be in for a wild ride down the NW rabbit hole! You have not even started to see the capabilities of Floor and this band! Floor is about 6'1" (185.42cm) without heels on or 6'4" with. She is the tallest member of the band until last year when they brought in a new bassist for their tours starting last year. Please keep up the reactions to this band, you will not be disappointed. Floor Jansen is an empath and when she sings, has a way of making you feel what she's feeling. Many of us still tear up when she sings even after many times hearing the songs. If you continue, you you learn about things like "Floorgasms" and "Windmills"! If you do any Sabaton Reactions, note that Floor is married to their drummer, Hannes Van Dahl, and have a daughter, Freja (she'll be 5 in March).

I have a word for what Floor can do and that is “everything”. Versatile, powerful and pitch perfect are a few more words. Where did she go? Actually, during the interlude by the London Philharmonic orchestra, she went backstage to fix a stuck zipper on the top left side of her warrior’s outfit. 😄🤘
Too much detail, but anyway, I think it actually serves the mood and the interlude of this song quite well in terms of presentation. The whole band briefly left the stage in a moment of tranquility. No matter if it is for a breather, a drink, a word, or even a stuck zipper. ;-)

I too would like to welcome you to the Nightwish Army. Our official historian and guide is Gabriel and if you follow the links he provides in that order you will experience nightwish in all its glory.
I can tell you that this band and mainly this performance opened my eyes to the world of symphonic metal (that nightwish mostly created) and has given me so much joy. Floor is tall at 6' but she seems much taller due go Empu. Being 5' 3" and they can be seen next to each other more then the rest of the band.

Greetings and welcome to Nightwish and symphonic metal.
In this concert at the Wacken Music Festival in Germany 2013, Floor Jansen is the 6 foot, Dutch Goddess of all things vocal.
Marko is the bass player and looks like a viking, Emppu is the very short guitar player, Jukka (the pirate) is the drummer, Tuomas is the keyboard player, formed the band, and writes pretty much all songs and lyrics with small contributions from Marko.
Marko does have a few songs he wrote for Nightwish that he sings himself too.
And the 6th member who you will see eventually, is Troy. He plays many instruments including Irish bagpipes, keyboard, guitar, bouzouki, bass, Irish flutes, and low and high whistles.
The band is from Finnland, Troy is from UK, and Floor is from Netherlands.
About Floor.....
Floor Jansen was in a band in late 90s called After Forever but eventually left early 2000s and formed ReVamp.
Floor was going through a rough time with the band, among other things in 2011 which caused her to have burnout. She began recovering in 2012 when in late September she received a phone call from Tuomas, the keyboard player. They had just fired their singer Anette on the 29th while on tour and wanted to know if she could fill in for the rest of the tour. Despite her still recovering from burnout, she agreed to help.
They gave her 48 hours to learn 18 songs before her debut in Seattle, Washington on October 1st.
9 months later in June 2013, she was offered the position permanently and she agreed. Troy was made permanent at the same time.
Floor is classically trained.
She took 4 years at the Dutch Rock Academy, 2 years at the Conservatorium Tilburg, a year of musical theater and opera. She was also a vocal coach for some time.
Floor Jansen will be the most versatile singer you will ever know.
She prides herself a geek in the topic of the anatomy of the vocal mechanism. From breath control in the diaphragm, rib muscles, and lungs, to the resonating tone created by the shape of the skull, and absolutely everything in between.
She has 4 master classes on her RUclips Channel (Floor Jansen) you might enjoy. She also recently created a fan club called Floor World that you may like as well. Do check it out, she is an absolutely beautiful human being, extremely down to earth bonds with nature and bonds with her fans via videos clips and Livestreams.

I just reply in response to what the viewer says and try to keep it as relevant as possible. I also have to brag about Floor because I support her immensely and deserves all the support she can get.
I've only known NW since April 2020 and they became my favorite band almost immediately.
I love the genius compositions by Tuomas as I am an ex musician myself and have a deep love for his type of writing.
That guy is absolutely amazing when it comes to writing music. Emppu is one of my favorite guitarists because he doesn't overplay and has a excellent ear for a great rhythm.
I do wish Marko and Jukka would return. I love Kai, but I love Jukka's energy and enthusiasm while playing... I miss that!! And Floor?
Well, Floor won my heart in Phantom of the Opera back in 2020. I have all their albums and DVDs (except End of an Era), 5 shirts and a NW travel tumbler.
There hasn't been one day since that I don't listen to her voice, after all, I watch reaction videos. lol
What I comment is mostly related to the comments of the reactor, but I do try to put in as much detail as I can without making it boring.

Welcome to the wondrous world of Nightwish :). This song is definitely their most well known one and it shows the absolute talent in each band member. BUT! In my humble opinion it's not even their best song :D. To name but a few that you simply HAVE to check out: Romanticide, Song of Myself and Ever Dream (all from the same concert Wacken 2013), 7 Days to the Wolves (Wembley Arena) and from that same concert The Poet and the Pendulum. React to that last song last and read up on it before you do, as there is a huge part of background involved in it. And then finally there is one of my favourite NW songs, High Hopes (live). This last song has no Floor (!) and will still blow you away, trust me :). Keep up the good work!
In fact this song and this performance are among my all-time favourites. It shows already quite some versatility and vocal skill, as well as how much Floor likes the song herself. I found this so amazing considering, that Floor entered the band in the middle of the tour and was barely a year with them at the time of this concert. And I love how Floor added her own hallmark finishing end to this song. Really awesome and unbelievably outstanding.

Singers like Floor are very, very rare. The last ones I can think of in this category are Freddie Mercury and Chester Bennington (imo. please don't hit me for that). She is probably the most talented singer atm out of all the rock & metal genres. And this performance belongs in every music history book.

All adventures to the Symphonic Metal realm have to begin somewhere and Nightwish only helps in the finest of ways. Seriously, this band is incredible and I believe it's the perfect one to discover and grasp knowledge of the symphonic aspect bands like these have to offer.
Truth be told, mine began with Epica 14 years ago and I'm still in love with my proudest discovery at the time.
Welcome to a genre in which you can truly feel the beauty of a genre that is underappreciated: metal.
