    The steering on articulated vehicles is a valve. Turning the wheel will allow fluid to transfer. There is no power without the pump but it will allow the cylinders to move.

    • @fowletm1992
      @fowletm1992 5 лет назад +2

      Orbital valves do have a small pump in them for metering
      They allow a bit of steering
      Buts its very slow
      Like over 100 revolutions lock to lock
      I lost the engine on a cat 955 going down a hill so no brakes either
      Managed to keep it on the road for about 200m around a bend and off the main haul road
      Spinning the crap out of the steering wheel snaking down the road
      In an emergency you can of course just drop the bucket to stop but i didnt want to block the haul road

Machine has been sitting for about 10 years now, I don’t know how good anything is but it was parked because of a bad engine all the hydraulics functioned. I know some of the Deeres used variable displacement pumps and some did not so I’m not sure if the machine I have is identical but you’re welcome to more information if you would like. Our wheel loader did that on the rear drive shaft which only has two inches of clearance to the transmission housing. It broke out a piece and had a hole in the bottom. We JB welded it up and it has been holding so far. Hopefully it lasts forever. This is a machine kinda like yours. We don't use it all day everyday. Just to move large machines around periodically. Hopefully it doesn't cost you too much. Love your videos. We work on all our own machinery as well! Keep it up.

      Morg Lavey I don’t see the Bible as a cookbook, like all things in history it’s written by the victors. This will upset people but the Christian Bible was written by several catholic factions, then all different stories were placed together to tell us a story, in a fashion as people saw things. The Bible is a great book of stories we can learn from.
      Even the Protestant Bible, is the edited version when Luther was paid to translated it, and determined several books of the Bible didn’t belong.
      It’s a book...one we can learn from and get inspiration from its stories, but not a cookbook. Just add holy water, stir, simmer 10 minutes and poof immortality.
      The creation on man, is in itself proof of God, we aren’t just spinning on this rock, flying through an expanding universe, capable of thinking and understanding....and when you die that’s it, game over....this is just one step in a journey. I hope those people I’ve learned to love on this journey will be on the next with me.
      And I can’t wait to see my dog Roger again.

      Morg Lavey isn’t it interesting, it’s all 1 God but how he comes to us is in a fashion in which we can except. I mean if you are standing before the Kingdom and someone is there saying, you were a great person in the last journey, sorry you picked the wrong religion, you’re going to hell or are there giant brick walls keeping everyone separate so people don’t fight like here on this rock. I just can’t agree that by chance, after many time the earth has frozen, thawed, hit by asteroids, volcanic eruptions, that this one time between the last ice age and the coming ice age all the stars aligned and created Homo sapiens, a species that will be extinct in the next Ice age or asteroid strike.
      Brings a larger question how could Hell be worse then what we see today, War, genocide, disease...

    Thanks for sharing. I don't know if people appreciate the dollar side of this particular piece of equipment. Older used cost $100,000 plus to $500,000 new. When you use it, not that often as compared to the other equipment, the big loader is nice to have but for most farms it would be out of their budget. • @puirYorick
      @puirYorick 5 лет назад +4

      @@lechandler4041 Government budgeting practices led to a lot of policies like that. The logic doesn't strictly apply to a private owner because the overriding need to set larger (or at least not smaller) budgets on purpose doesn't apply.
      A Navy mechanic has a video on here about putting in requisitions for tools to keep F-18s flying and being turned down because the left over money at end of FY was going to be spent on a flat screen TV system for the mess room instead of nickel and dime hand tools like wrenches that didn't add up to enough to fully consume their allotted budget. Any money not spent is deducted from the next FY budget for that department.
      I know a guy who used to build and set up big box warehouse stores all over and his employer had a similar use-it-all budget approach. Follow the depreciation tables set out by the bean counters then toss stuff away and buy new ones even if the old ones were still perfectly good.
      If you're happy with what you'll have for the incremental cost then it's still a good deal. The money-pit argument against repairing a broken machine is always a judgement call best made by the guy who has owned it and worked on it directly.

    If you pull the fuel kill knob or use the throttle to kill the fuel for a second when starting those John deere tractors it will not make all that smoke when you start them. If you are in the shop or something and don't want to fill the place up with all that smoke. Kill the fuel the second it starts to make the big smoke show and turn the fuel right back on.

      About 8 years ago they sprayed old oil on the unmanned airfields to keep grass from growing and maybe easier to spot in drought seasons for emergency landings.
      2 years ago when we went there in the rain season, there was no sign of a runway. It was totally overgrown with grass.
      I agree, oil does not permanently damage the soil. Maybe for a year or 5.
      Keep up the good work Welker Farms.

    B. $5k to have another term of use of a 644 is a great deal

    Over the years I have worked and worked on a lot CAT equipment. You can't go wrong with good used CAT loader. I think a 988 CAT loader will do anything on your farm and then some. Good luck getting your loader back up and running. I hope it lasts for many years to come for you.

      I think the 994H is to big to fit inside their shop if they need too. If they are searching for loader, it would be better a Komats'u WA380, Cat 980C, Volvo L180, Terex 72-61.

      @@danielmurcela7235, judging from your name, you are experienced with heavy equipment. Which one would you want? Volvo does have some nice stuff. I look at things as how easy/difficult to work on when problems arise.

    • @danielmurcela7235
      @danielmurcela7235 5 лет назад +1

      @@leebob86 I think the Volvo L180 is the best one in my opion. The Komats'u wastes a lot of fuel same as the Cat 980, maybe more. The Terex is older then all of this other machines, and if I remember well it has a Detroit Diesel, realy good engine. But if some problem happens whit this machine, it will be more dificult to find pieces, because it is realy old.
      Now the Volvo, I think wastes a bit less then the Cat and the Komats'u, and its a good machine.
      But If Welkers can find what they need for a good price, I would say that is the best option.

    The reason the Deere starts like that is the injection pump rack goes full fuel and floods the engine at start up. It then pulls back when the oil pressure builds up in the pump. You can pull the fuel shut off out at start up and slowly push it in as you crank it. Won't smoke and rev up and done right make a smooth start.

I hope he replaces the soil on the field where the break down happened. But in my opinion americans dont care much about environmental pollution.
