  • It's been a while since I've had much stick time on my Deviant DLGs, but with the perfect light lift conditions, I had to come out and try some new settings I've been playing with in my other models to see how it works on the Deviant.

What's your max camber setting on the Deviant?

I tried 10mm this evening (dead cold air), but it brakes way too much for my taste.
I ended up at my usual 4-5mm which felt better and had minimal sinkrate.

I found out a guy that use to work at a hobby store near me bought a 1m deviant. He hasn't flown it much so he sold it to me today and I flew it. First composite DLG and it's beyond words. Can't wait to get a 1.5 meter. You do good work Tom!

Thank you!! Glad you’re enjoying the Deviant. I love taking mine out. You’ll be blown away by a 1.5m once you’re ready ✌️

Really cool flying! The birds in V formation in the background was a beutiful coincidence!! Thanks Thomas!

I didn’t even notice when I was flying, it was such a nice surprise when we went back to watch the video!

Awesome scenes from this glider's launches and flights! Nice tight turnings too.

Best thing about evening flights is the lift is weak but so is the sink. I learned to not bother turning tight or trying to core anything in the evenings.. I just use a wide circle thats butter smooth as I can be with minimal control input and fly half in and half out of the lift.. If im flying at minimum sink, and gains outweigh the losses.. Just so long as I dont get peppy and try to turn harder, Half in half out technique.. Lol...

When I launch or see others launch a 1m dlg, it always looks so high!! Haha!

Most people can get their 1m models to 80-90% the height of a 1.5m!

Could be the right choice in small unorganized lift to turn tight in w the smaller wingspan. Then again, The L/D of the 1.5 m is so nice!

Nice flying, I'll definitly try 10mm camber on my b2. Just need to work out where to put thermal 2.

Try it! It takes some getting used to but wow, it is awesome when the conditions work for it.

Do you still use 2mm down for cruise. and then go to 10mm down for float?

    • @ArmSoar
      @ArmSoar  2 года назад +1

      Yes, 2mm cruise. But i also have a 6mm thermal 1. Max is 10mm in thermal 2.

    Thomas,
You mention that in certain conditions 10mm of camber is good. What are those conditions for you?

    • @ArmSoar

Very light air and very strong life… the two ends of the spectrum, funnily enough.

So nice. Would you happen to have any representative with deviants in stock within the EU?

Unfortunately not, we’ve temporarily discontinued the Deviant as our production capacity in Ukraine has been severely reduced.
