I agree. The 1m is great for weak or narrow thermals, and flying in tight locations. But 1.5m launches much higher and covers a lot more ground, so is better for searching further and stays visible longer at range and altitude.
Thats true, that's why I deliberately launched the 1.5m lower then I could, so it could be a fair battle. Other than that and the visibility I wanted to show that both are really capable performers.
Nice comparison of 2 great flying DLG's! I've become a big fan of the AG03-AG11 wings you have been flying. I made one for myself a few months ago, it's about 1.25 meters. It launches very high, and just seems to float around the sky. What I like most about this wing is the way it signals lift. The tail goes up, the nose goes down, and the plane really accelerates in the lift. Just pull back on the elevator, and up it goes. With the 12 degrees of dihedral on each wing, it also can circle on a wing tip for those low level thermals. Other club members were so impressed with the way this wing flies, I've had to make 2 more sets of wings.
Yes, nice little planes and not a big gap in performance from molding and cnc to bagging and free foam cutting. Any chance to take a pic from your build?
Very nice comparison Antonis! I like your environment, place where you can fly. I can see your flying skills, very nice rolls at both gliders. My experience also from your video that the 1m has less drag than 1.5m. Bravo!
Cool man. They’re both great I think in different ways. I’m hoping the 1.2m is a good compromise with the best of both sizes in a way. We shall see. :-)
Hi! I really enjoyed your video and decided to buy me one of those dlg’s. Now I have a few problems with setting up my jumper t-pro (same as your radio) for dlg glider. Could you send your settings for the plane or the full model config, they must be in the file on radio’s micro sd card. Thank you so much!)
Hello (a) filos, I followed your lead and have set up my TLite with a Matek R24V. After an interesting ‘process’ , I now have both vario and altitude call outs - thank you for suggesting this Tx Rx combination. I do have a question - maybe you can help. How did you set up your momentary Launch sequence? Thanks and happy soaring. PK
this is how I set it www.rcgroups.com/forums/showpost.php?p=50214805&postcount=78 my launch switch is on SCdown position. Easy, Flight modes need to be in that exact order for launch sequence to work.
Nice video, I own a 1m and a couple 1.5m, I don't fly my 1m very much anymore. I've never flown them back to back, thanks for sharing. Funny, we both launch around 40m Experiments for science 😜
Nice, for me its the opposite, I don't fly the 1,5m much, but my launches are higher then yours 😄, 50 with the 1m and 60 with the 1.5m. In this video I purposely launched low for a fair duel between the two.
@@afilos wish I could launch to 60m, my shoulder is not so great anymore, but probably more to do with me simply not flying my gliders enough, most of my videos are powered planes. I do have a couple DLG vids though if you're interested in checking them out.

Thanks, really nice!!!
what a beautiful country. nice video
Thank you!
I’ve been out of this hobby for awhile. Glad to see DLG’s are still around. The transmitters seem to have evolved though! What are you using?
Jumper T-Pro, and RadioMaster Pocket, both in ELRS protocol.
very cool 😎👍. I'm assuming the 1m has less wing loading, so being better in lighter thermals makes sense.
Appreciate you sharing with us.
✌
Thanks, yes lighter wing loading does make a difference in weak conditions. Missing your build series 😞
@@afilos should have a new video this week 😎

Thanks, I wanted to do a back to back flying for a while to see the gap between molded and homebuild.

1.2 will be the best between the two for sure.

@@CR5rc I have seen your dlg videos in the past 😁
Is alot of clouds is indicator a lot of thermal? Sorry for bad english
partially clouds and sun is a good weather and also timing from 10:00-14:00. But there are thermals every day of the year.
awesome - the 1m seems to fly faster too?
Thanks, yes maybe it seems like that due to different size or it is trimmed for faster flight.
1.5m for the win.
Hey bloke, 1m, defs better in the light lift.....
