This is one of the best videos I have ever seen on RUclips. Authentic, to the point, sharing a meaningful experience. Salutes from Egypt mate. Congrats on your daughters wedding.
I guess I can take that as a compliment. Thank you. I plan to do more videos like this in the future. Film stuff out there in the world people can be made aware of - that is useful. Are you based in Cairo?
I will be in Cairo end Oct/Nov to shoot more videos in the Khan etc. If you are up for some translating on one of my shoots and will be in Cairo then, let me know :)
I live in Cairo and you have shown me places I have never been to before, thanks. Granted I only go to uni and back home but I always wanted to discover these places.
@@somewheredifferent I came across the video randomly, I hope more people are as adventurous as you are. I am a local and I would love to help you if you need any help on your trip.
I cracked when you found out the tailor building was still standing. I knew it was the one and then you got me all confused😂😂. It worked out to become a very nice suit to go for that heartbreaking wedding speech. How nice.
I was shouting 'it's behind you' re the building you thought had been demolished. Very sweet ending, you looked great in your Cairo tailored suit for £40.
Great work mate! really appreciated all the camera work, editing and commentary. What a cool experience, well documented and glad to see the speech at the end! You def did make her proud 👏 See you in Spain soon hopefully! Pete
Yeah, really nice guy, I highly recommend any one who is staying in Cairo for more than a few days to go see him and get a nice suit and shirts made :)
You should go, there are 100s of tailors in the area. Some not so good and , well my guy is very good as you saw in the video. Great please to explore and see all the cloth that is for sale there. I will be hopefully doing more videos like this one, this winter.
I will be in Cairo end of Oct/Nov, I will be shooting more videos then. Will you be in Cairo then? I need help with translation on some of the shoots, as my Arabic is... well, not good. Maybe come along one day and help with some translation if you would find that a fun thing to do :)
@somewheredifferent that is great yo know that more videos are coming. I might be away. However, we can arrange together if I am still in Cairo. I am mostly available on weekends.
psst! The Wandering Turnip sent me. I enjoyed that, but there was a point where it looked like turning into the old joke about finding a ticket for the cobblers from many years before, taking it to them, they search, find the "work" and say... They will be ready on Thursday.
ruclips.net/video/iLhTYIy5AGs/видео.html explains the roof bit. Sorry I forgot that it was not in Cairo but was talked about in the story and yes, not explained what the relavance was. We had just been through the second wave of the the Tsunami in Sri Lanka and the roof we had climbed on to was about to collapse.
ruclips.net/video/iLhTYIy5AGs/видео.htmlsi=M-W6yHkhGV-oOlMk explains the roof bit, we where all in the tsunami in Sir Lanka in 2004 and lucky to be alive.
I lost his details, I know, pretty poor show on my part. I will be back in Cairo in November and will add all his details here for you then. Sorry about that. If you watch the video, you will see he is on the first floor. This link maps.app.goo.gl/PAYYmw3KKxQur8x89 takes you to the stairs that lead up to his shop in Attaba.
They built "New Cairo" and then they started to build even 'newer Cairo'. So the old Down Town part has not changed at all in 30 years. They have restored a lot of the old Art Deco and Streamline Modern buildings, but yeah, is a living museum of the 70's . I love it!
the last 10 seconds of the video are humanity at its best.
Wow, thanks. Yeah, I am a lucky guy to be able to say that. They are all still here :)

@somewheredifferent Great work, my good sir.
I am, indeed, based in Cairo, but it's fascinating how fellow Egyptians interact with foreigners.

congratulations on your daughter's wedding. I hope your experience in Egypt next time (if there is a next time) is better 🤍
I arriven back on 16th Oct, will be shooting some videos in Cairo for a month and yes, getting some more shirts made :)
@somewheredifferent hope nothing lasts like this time haha best of luck

Yeah, building was there all the time hey - woops. At least I didn't fluff my lines in the speech :)
This was fun to watch and omg such a wholesome ending. lovely stuff. Bro explored El Attaba hahahhaa, amazing stuff.
Thanks, will be doing a more in-depth video this winter hopefully on this area interviewing more tailors and material shops. I love it there.
@@somewheredifferent aye that would be awesome and very helpful too hahaha. will be excited to see it.
Just watched this video after watching the Blackpool video from the Wandering Turnip. great work.
Thanks, new kit, new mojo and new ideas coming soon :)
SO I'm doing now.
Salutes from Egypt, I loved the video
Thank you, was fun to shoot, I love that part of Cairo and I also love my new tailored suit :)
I was shouting 'it's behind you' re the building you thought had been demolished. Very sweet ending, you looked great in your Cairo tailored suit for £40.
Thank you for your kind words. Yes £20 for the material and £20 for the suit and 5 shirst to be tailored is not bad hey :)
@@somewheredifferent I've travelled around India over the years, and l think Egypt is even cheaper for all you had made.
beautiful

Fantastic! Really enjoyed that, Bill 👍
Interesting. Thanks for sharing, and keep on keepin' on! 🎉
And congratulations 🎊 best to you and your daughter. ❤
I spent 8 weeks in Cairo, loved it! Hated the traffic and the cockroaches in our kitchen! (could not get rid of the pesky buggers).
I think every one has a bit of a love / hate thing going on when staying in Cairo.
any cleaning subblies shop will have a cockroach poison it's a lil Chinese powder packet you can put it wherever the cockroaches show up more
Very nice tour of Cairo. I am egyptian and barely knew that there are professional tailors in Attaba!

Ramadam got in the way, so yeah, came back a year later. But we got there in the end.
15:54 this guy looks like junior soprano tony's uncle
I had to Google that. Yes he does. They are really helpful guys.
I liked the ORDERED KAOS of Al Kahir/El Cairo
Yes, as long as you allow enough time and keep smiling, it's great. Nice people and great old buildings :)
The exchange rate with the uk £ Is great at the moment.
It's the best time to visit Egypt. Super safe but because of 🇮🇱 it's not crowded and yes, super cheap because of the exchange rate.
❤
The Turnip sent me! New sub! 👍🏾
Was there any particular reason for existential thoughts on that rooftop?
I edited yesterday, so each scene should still be pretty fresh in my head :) I don't remember the roof scene. Do you mean when I am cooking?
@@somewheredifferent i think they mean from your speech at the reception
