I was in San Francisco working at Macy's and protesting the Vietnam war! This song blew me away! One of my all time favs! Aloha
This song was on the border of a cultural shift. They're still wearing suits.... but his hair is pretty unruly, he shouts, and the song's about people from the 'wrong side of the tracks.'
That keyboard solo is so smooth, and it feels so integral and fitted to the rest of the song, that it's easy to forget that it's a solo.
Eric Burdon is incredible! He was so young here and yet so powerful. It's hard to imagine like others have said that he is 81 and still singing to crowds. He is also a great-grandfather.
Say whaaaaa!? That’s incredible! 😳
I was not born back then, but I love their music. Now you have to check out their song Don't let me be misunderstood, one of my favorites. Greetings from Sweden 👍
Will do 👍🏻 And a huge shoutout to Sweden !
This looks so good because it's on film. It's from Pop Gear (1965) which was shown in movie theaters to introduce US audiences to the British Invasion bands.
Oh that makes sense haha
Love this! And.... Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood ..is just as good too!!💞✌
Okay Okay ❤️
The choreographer sure had a cushy job. “Okay guys, just kinda wander around the room for a bit and then stand behind the keyboard player for a minute. Then wander around some more. Got it ? Okay, I’m going to lunch.”
Haha 😂
A cautionary tale told by one who suffered the fate of living a life spent "in sin and misery." To me, the best line in the lyrics is, "Well, I've got one foot on the platform, the other foot on the train; I'm goin' back to New Aw-lee-ans to WEAR THAT BALL AND CHAIN." What foreboding, what a bleak outlook for the remainder of his life.
😂❤️
The recording they are lipsynching to was recorded in 1964, but this video is from a 1965 movie. The song was recorded in about 20 minutes because that was all the studio time they could afford. Done in one take. Eric Burdon, the lead singer, was 23 when this was recorded, 24 in this video. He's 81 and still sounds great. No vocal training at all.
HOLY only 20 minutes for a whole music video and it came out flawless lol. Geez the fact that he is still singing at the age of 81 is mind blowing as well!
Love Eric Burdon & The Animals. They were part of the British Invasion along with The Beatles, Rolling Stones & others. People are always shocked that Eric has such a different unique deeper voice. The Animals had a lot of great hits in the 60's such as "We Gotta Get Out Of This Place", "Baby Let Me Take You Home", "I'm Crying", "Boom Boom", "Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood", "Bring It On Home to Me", "It's My Life", "Don't Bring Me Down", "See See Rider", "Monterey", & "Sky Pilot". Eric later joined the funk rock band "War" & they had a few hits "Spill the Wine" & "Tobacco Road".
You can look the lyrics up on the computer. Eric Burden was 23 when this came out and he is now in his 80's and still singing. The keyboard player's name was Alan Price who went onto have his own group and the guitarist at the back was the manager of Jimmi Hendrix.
Still singing 🤯🤯 wow
I was 12 years old when I first heard, and loved, The Animals.
This song never gets old! 🫶🏽
Born 1970 so this song reminds me of when i was young.
I know it's featured in the movie Casino towards the end of the movie.
Never seen the movie, but just watched a clip that had the song in it lol! Might have to give the movie a go lol
It's hard to believe he was a teenager when he sang this
Wow 🤯
He was 23
Great song ! Yes,Released 1964 ,the year I was born , feeling oldish! ! 😳🤣 🤗
Never that, your still young ! live it up ❤️
@@SimplyTwoDudes woop woop 🙌🤗
Don’t worry Hazel you’re not as old as me! I was born in 1957! Now that’s old! Lol!

You probably heard the song. It's in all the mob movies like ,"Goodfellas and Casino. "
They filmed this video in one take.

👍🏻👍🏻
I was 3 years old.
It was in Casino
Got it! Thanks for the clarification.
It's a prison and hymn to people who throw lives away
And not a song but a hymn to people who throw lives away
It's about a brothel
more likely pre recorded common in those days i just know it just by their ease and calmness in strutting around while performing .unusual vocalist letting out soulful husky metallic joe cocker like voice while standing still like a street sign pole.Too bad none of the band members got imposing beard and stache like you do.
True that Jonathan! 😂🔥♥️
The song was played at the end of the 1995 Martin Scorsese film Casino
