This is a top 5 all time fav song of mine. It is haunting and enchanting. It’s just so very good.

Amazing..... I was a teen when this was popular and I watch the video today and they look like freshman students that should be carrying their books to their high school class. Yes, it was done in one take. The grinning guitarist was watching them try to move t he keyboardist to the front for the final shot, while he was playing.

Eric Burdon was 23 when he sang this but sounded much older. The second guitarist became the manager of Jimmi Hendricks and the guy on the keyboard was Alan Price who later had his own band.
Such a classic. Never get tired of hearing this one.

According to Wiki, the original recording was actually done in “one take” on May 18, 1964 at the famous De Lane Lea Studios in London. But I don't know for this video. HAP, maybe you know the 2016 movie “Suicide Squad”? This movie starts with this song 🤩. Thank you for this fantastic reaction 🤩🙋🏻♀️.

The walking around is to represent the funeral procession in New Orleans. Reason Hilton was smiling is off-screen the techs were rolling Alan to the front for last shot it struck his funny bone. Chas (tall red head) went on to manage Jimi Hendrix. Yes done in one take. Supposedly they didn't have enough money to do more than one take. It was a Vox Continental ORGAN. 😂😂

The name House of the Rising Sun was the name of a famous brothel in New Orleans. The song says ruined plenty of men...
working class to politicians went there. I lived in New Orleans..it's not there anymore. Now it's Louis Armstrong Park

It started off as a folk song; written in the 1930's but maybe based on other folk ballads. It has never been definitively assigned to anyone.

Great reaction. The guitarist is smiling because they were wheeling the keyboard player up front so he was in the final shot. Video shot in 1 take and the song was recorded in 1 take and 15 minutes. The band were not big stars and didn't have enough money for lots of studio time or recording time.

This is the most iconic rendition of this song for sure, but I heard it first from Joan Baez, and with her soprano voice and feminine lyrics it’s hardly the same song even though the melody is the same. Check it out sometime if you get a chance. It will always hold first place in my heart.
PS the whole video was a fake in the sense that none of the instruments were plugged in, not just the organ. None of the guitars were plugged in either or they couldn’t have walked around in circles like that. 😂 I guess the drums could’ve been played live, but everything else was pantomimed/lip synced. Had to be.
