- In this episode I head South to San Diego, CA to pick up a new board from SharpEye surfboards.
Marcio Zouvi takes us through a high level process on how they make a board. Marcio also talks about the different density in EPS foams and how their buoyancy affects how a board rides.
Let's head to San Diego and learn together from a world class shaper!!!.
very interesting! thanks Noel & Marcio!
I’ve purchased close to a dozen customs from Marcio’s factory. Marcio is really good about spending a few minutes with a guy ordering a board and making recommendations or pointing you towards something interesting. He a great guy and runs a great factory. I’ve just started to shape my own boards and look to all his shapes I already have as guides. It’s a humbling craft and I definitely give props to those shapers who make such streamlined boards like Marcio. Nice vlog, it will be nice to hear how the e2 feels!
SurfTopics Cheers... great comments concerning Marcio. I agree Marcio is solid. I used to get boards shaped by him years ago and he is very professional and personable. His boards are epic too.
I like the input from the shaper that he used medium fins because he is skinny and not powerfull , that way the board will be more manouverable for him . Great video !
Really cool insights, thanks to both of you!
Thanks Noel. Very interesting video and was great to tag along while you pick up your board and your chat with Marico. Just pick up a demo HT2.5 5'8" which was after watching your HT2 review which was very informative. Can't wait to try it tomorrow. Thanks for the all your reviews which are great with you tech/surf skill level and ability to explain makes best reviews. I look forward to watching more of your stuff. High regards legend .. yeww
Nice Vlog Noel!
Awesome review! I ride Sharp Eye surfboards, but have not ordered any yet in the e2 construction. It was helpful to hear Marcio's explanation of the e2 construction vs PU construction. I cannot wait to hear your review of the new HT2 model in e2! I find it very helpful when I can learn from both the shaper and your take on the board. Thanks for doing this!
b navarrete My pleasure to get the inside scoop for our community. Marcio is an amazing shaper and is very knowledgeable concerning his trade. A great source to lean on as we all learn more about surfboards. Cheers
Yo marcio looking good dude
Pablo, Jason, rob
Good seeing you guys
Take care
Lionel
Stocked on this review I grew up in OB San Diego riding Sharp Eyes, I can honestly say I've never had one that didn't go good. His boards need more attention. Marcio has been doing this along time his boards rip just as good as any Lost or Ci
cvosburg77 Thanks for posting your experience with Sharpeye’s boards.
*Good stuff*
Difference of density between the same material translates in difference in weight.. witch in turn offsets the buoyancy. So, buoyancy of a surfboard is directly proportional to its weight, volume and the density of the liquid in witch it is submerged. But now if you add motion to the surfboard volume becomes relative to surface area.. This is when the volume measurement falls apart a little bit in the current state of affairs.
chicoxiba I agree
Great content👍
That may have been the best description of eps foams.
Justin Bordwell I thought Marcio talked about it plainly too. Simple...
I WOULD LOVE TO SWEEP THE FLOORS OF SHARP EYE SHOP EVEN CLEAN THE PISSER JUST TO GET IN THAt love of boards. lol good vibes
🤙🏼🤙🏼🤙🏼
epic, thanks
I think he mixed up the densities, for a 1.5lb density its gonna be more buoyant than the 2lb but yeah not questioning sharp eye on the performance relative to PU I think he just mixed it up when he was explaining the buoyancy. The 2lb should be more durable.
Marcio's looking like AM.
