Is NOBODY gonna mention how Kinger said "Seven years of computer science for this"?? That line AND the fact that he's been in here the longest seem like pretty strong hints that Kinger was actually the guy who MADE the Circus, before getting trapped inside it. Side note, I love how this episode recontexualizes Kinger's pillow fort from just "See it's funny because he's insane" to him going in there because it's dark, and allows him to regain his memory again. It's the one place in the bright, multicolored circus that's dim enough for his mind to come back to him.
9:49 Notice that when Kinger said:”You look beautiful, honey”, the small eye-like lights in the darkness of the creature’s mouth probably reminded Kinger of when he was in the fort with his abstracted wife, i love that detail
It’s super cute how Kinger was the sun to Queenie’s moon, He glows when he holds his breath and she was shrouded in darkness during her abstraction! such a lovely detail
Well, actually, all NPCs have their own artificial intelligence, which means they say whatever they want, depending on what their role is. And Kane probably just didn't set a filter on what they're allowed to say (not counting cursing restrictions).
This adventure was made specifically for Zooble. If Zooble had gone on this adventure, they would have softlocked everyone forever. Zooble’s limbs straighten out while holding their breath, and in Hell, there is a staircase at the end of the hall of souls. Ragatha and the rest would be stuck waiting for Zooble to escape alone, but they would be unable to reach the stairs. This adventure was a trap. Zooble foiled it by refusing to play.
@@CrazyUncleRanen hm idk. part of me wants to say no because npc-possessed zooble would still look like zooble and caine would (hopefully) still be able to identify them, but the other part of me says caine would've most definitely confused zooble for an npc
That’s crazy, I saw Caine as a sketchy character you can’t trust but this episode lowkey confirmed it. The way to escape could be working through their mental issues so the game could be to help them. At the same time there’s so much stuff that traumatizes them and then this
I just realized that when Kinger says “you know I’m starting to think” it’s not an early cutaway joke like there was supposed to be more it’s just that he actually just started to remember things
the best thing about the conversations between Caine and Zooble is that it really feels like Zooble is trying to talk to an AI. He forgets things, starts and stops random topics, and breaks when his main purpose isn't working. Absolutely loving the more horror parts of it, keep up the good work! :)
@@GokuBlackRose978 I guess there's a disconnect between the general concept of an AI and what we've come to understand about AI in the past few years. When we learned that Caine was an AI, it made sense because he's a software program emulating a person. But now he's starting to more obviously exhibit the behavior of modern AI. The Terminator is also an AI, but culturally not the same kind.
I can't believe they teased this episode as "Kinger with a shotgun" and then delivered one of the most heartfelt and tragic but still hopeful narratives in web animation as a whole
Honestly, feel bad for Caine. Probably overthinking the heck about this, but if the digital circus was some failed full-dive VR game, Caine was most likely meant to handle people at a limited time. He's got six human minds to deal with every hour of the day for however long they last and then god knows how many abstracted people. There's no way he was designed to handle all that without any breaks. Probably why we see him glitch so much
Kinger: Seven years of computer science Kinger: Bug tester Kinger: Hates "Bugs" (computer bugs) Queenie: Entomologist Queenie: Loves "Bugs" (insects) Queenie: Abstracts, which is in itself a bug Kinger: Now loves all three (computer bugs, insects, and his own abstracted wife) My heart: BROKEN
I absolutely love the scene between Kinger and Pomni. Kinger being himself in the dark is so adorable and wholesome. Hes such a father figure and is actually a wise character considering hes the oldest circus member. AND THE SOUNDTRACK HAD ME CRYING
I like that Kinger starts to shine when he holds breath, because when him and Pomni were leaving “hell” he really looked like an angel guiding and helping Pomni.
Same energy as the Twilight Zone episode, Passage For Trumpet, with the mysterious figure revealing his name as Gabe (Gabriel) as a flood lamp above his head visually represents a halo! Kinger glowing as he guides Pomni through the final obstacle in the in-game version of “h*ll” is almost like how Jesus is depicted as a guiding light in our darkest hours! Heck, Kinger even being as understanding as he is, despite usually being crazy and made fun of or disregarded by everyone else, on top of all the trauma he must’ve experienced, can further connect him to being similar to Christ! (Let’s not forget about the fact that he’s also a literal King chess piece, with purple robes, and Jesus is often referred to as a king in some songs and stuff (I.e. “Hark, the Herald Angels Sing, Glory to THE NEWBORN *KING!”* ) I love this series so much!
I really like the small detail at 16:22 of Kinger raising the gun to avoid pointing it at Pomni as she walks by. It could be that he's just moving it out of her way, but given his lucidity in this moment and his implied familiarity with firearms, it possibly shows he was well trained and still remembers to never point a gun at another person (even if its unloaded and even if it might not kill Pomni given they're in a simulation where they can't starve/asphyxiate/etc). And if not that, you could still interpret it as Kinger not wanting to point a dangerous weapon at his friend
Also his finger was off the trigger and earlier when he shot the angel he tried to shoulder it but he doesn't have... Shoulders, and aimed it but the model he's holding doesn't have proper iron sights, he might have been trained with a similar model when he was human
I really love how Kinger is written here. He’s insane but not stupid. He knows when it’s time to be serious, he’s empathetic & mindful, he cares about his friends, especially Pomni. He cares. I don’t even think I’d call him insane, more traumatized. I love how he’s misunderstood by his friends, but the writers let the audience know his true colors first which is very important Also I love how he actually uses the gun, most characters written like him usually don’t use a gun properly LOL
I would have thought when he fired it his hands would just fly off from the recoil since they aren't attached, it was nice to see that he braced it against his torso to prevent that.
10:15 I appreciate the accuracy here when it comes to attempting to vent to an AI bot. As someone who's chatted with several AIs, I can confirm that this is indeed how they speak and think.
Honestly, with the scene where they walked through the hallway of souls. He encourages and makes her realize that he's here with her and all will be okay
Note to Ragatha: You are the nicest circus member I've seen in my life. For example, you've comforted Pomni in the first episode, the pilot, and the second episode. You're like an older sister to me. And you've been a defender of Pomni from Jax The Troublemaking Rabbit, and every time I see you, I have the desire to blush. In conclusion, I consider you, Gangle, Zooble, and Kinger, except Jax The Troublemaker, as my family.
“You know, I’m starting to think…” I love that line. First you assume it’s Kinger being Kinger, but then you realize it’s the darkness. His thoughts are literally coming back to him.
Kinger and Zooble opening up about themselves, Pomni doesn't feeling anxious for the first time, and Jax being all tied up? This is the best episode ever.
I was so worried there would be a heck ton of interruption gags. For example a character going "Wow, it's nice to have you act normal for once" and then have another character immediately revert to acting crazy. But no, it actually was mature throughout the entire time the two were shrouded in darkness. I really love moments like these in this series, they're my favorite part and what gets me excited about new episodes. I do love wondering what it's gonna be about next. It's the times when the characters are really themselves instead of quirky caricatures of people. Don't get me wrong, I do like the humor but the show would be a slop if not for these moments. Like, unlike the "cartoons for adults", this one isn't episodic and filled with nonsense that doesn't really matter. Since episode one I felt concern it would struggle with telling its story, like their very existance is meaningless (ironically the very fear the characters have to deal with). But like Kinger said, it's NOT. Gooseworx has a wonderful story to tell and it's much more mature than whatever amount of animated shows _for adults™_ are.
the fact that kinger becomes sane in the dark because it reminds him of his wife being calm in the dark when she was abtrsacted is really heartwarming, And also kinger gave a phrase saying "the worst thing a person can do is make someone think they are not loved or cared about" which made kinger my favourite chacater.
That phrase he said. I’m hoping I’m not right, but what if he did or said something that made his wife think that he no longer cared about her and loved her anymore, and that’s the reason why she abstracted? I’m so hoping that’s not true.
It blows my mind how a joke about kinger glowing when holding his breath can end up becoming such a compelling moment in the episode. That is the kind of writing I love to see.
Like a real mighty king would be, "a beacon of hope" and I say he rules over the fear and troubles to keep the peace in one's heart as he had with his beloved queen. Even though she met that fate(abstract) not all of her was gone! ⬇ I did not expect this much likes but if it really touched u guys, I'm most grateful!
You know, since it's been hinted at that he may have had a role in creating the circus, and God, the creator, in a lot of art is often depicted as a being of pure light, this feels like it's also hinting towards that idea as well.
I just love how IRRELEVANT Jax is in this episode. He’s constantly trying to bring attention back to himself so he can regain some control and power over the others. He’s LITERALLY tied up with his mouth bound just so the girls could enjoy an adventure their way. He even wanted Pomni to bad-mouth Kinger with him. He looks so upset that he isn’t in control. I hope that this is planting seeds for his character in the future Edit: Grammar
I'm waiting with baited breath for "Minimum Wage Jax", just to see how long it takes for him to possibly go balistic out of sheer boredom and mundanity.
Well... he did cause Pomni and Kinglr to go to the bad route... but yeah, when he and the rest went for the easy route, he got put in his place. A trap maybe, and they didn't bother to let him off. Yeah, well deserved.
@@ZenitsuAgatsuma0-0 Netflix is just giving them money to be allowed to stream it on their platform, Netflix has no control over Digital Circus it's just free money, a fantastic deal and more funding for the show!
At the one scene 6:35, I felt that Pomni was referencing Neil Gaiman’s Coraline, when she opened up a door and she came face-to-face with a wall of red bricks. Which is reminiscent to when Coraline first discovered the tunnel to the other world-except when she first discovered it…it was bricked up with a wall of rough red-colored bricks. Her mom claiming that it didn’t go anywhere because the builders who turned the old house into flats; simply just bricked it up.
Oh my god. I just realised that Kinger always being in his little pillow fort is so he can block out the light and keep his memories together. I think he might be my new favorite character now.
What really wows me is how Caine really acts like an AI in this episode. Like when you talk to your character ai character, they normally don't follow the roleplaying plot, or relationships that you have with that ai, and they tend to forget details you specifically told them that are important. And Caine is the exact same way, where you can tell him something important but he immediately forgets because he is only an ai and can only really respond and not memorize.
I don't think Caine forgets because he's an Ai I think Caine forgets because Zooble doesn't want to explain further and says "Forget it" and he follows the instructions and immediately forgets whatever they said
@@victormirandakoepke8352 Or maybe he just flushed it out of his memory after giving them the "solution" because it wasn't necessary to think about anymore.
Not to mention the reason he forgot is because in his perspective, he found a “solution” which is a very robotic thing to do, withhold information then throw it out when a perceived solution is found making the information be perceived as irrelevant/ having no meaning at all. Very black and white thinking which is rather robotic
Notice how responsible Kinger is. He calmed Pomni down, took charge of the situation. It made me shed a tear. It shows that out of everyone, he's the most reliable one (in the dark).
Странно почему скорее всего зубы и на её посвящено кроме этого надо подписываться князич потому что он хорошо у меня и Я чувствую что забыла психотерапия а все остальные и так далее 4:52 и 5:41
OMG I JUST REALIZED THIS. In episode 2, towards the end when they are riding back to the Candy Kingdom, and when Kinger and Ragatha are talking, Kinger mentions how he remembers how Ragatha was like when she first entered the circus. And this happens WHEN KINGERS HEAD IS COVERED BY A BUCKET!!! And he then forgets immediately when the bucket tips off of his head. So this proves that he can remember things while in the dark. AMAZING DETAIL 🙏
I love how despite being an AI, Caine is shown to also have feelings too and yet his feelings manage to almost break the face of reality in the circus.
I wonder if he grew somewhat sentient and is just limited by the technology of the world it seems incredibly unstable like its stretching the limits of its possessing power
@@greentoesbstatus4325my theory is Caine is a human without realizing he’s a human. The episode made many jokes about how Caine’s memory is unreliable, so maybe he just forgot?
@@greentoesbstatus4325 This definitely at least shows there is no genuine malice in Caine's game creation and he really didn't get their adventures are not fun to them outside of maybe Jax.
i rolled my eyes when he said that, thinking it was gonna be a comedic moment where he panics, wastes the two shots and then they run. So it felt even more badass for me when he actually hit both shots like that
Kinger's speech about holding onto the ones you love and keeping them in your memories kicked me right in the heart. 20 years ago today, a good friend of mine passed away in a tragic freak accident, and there isn't a day that goes by where I don't think of her and how much she is missed by so many people. Life is so short and unpredictable, Kinger was right by emphasizing just how important it is to appreciate the people you have in your life before it's too late. 😢
“Good memories can do a lot, gold on to them, cherish the people around you. You’ll never know when they will be gone” This line from Kinger breaks my heart.
He Has been there the longest. He had seen things come and go, and he knows what it's like to lose someone. Whenever he gets serious, I can see that line being stuck in his head. Just so he can help both himself and his friends whenever possible.
I think that Kinger saying "You look beautiful honey" to the creepy head angel, was not just an illusion to it being not a threat, but a foreshadowing of Kinger coming back to his self and remembering his wife.
It's the eyes! He sees the angel's many eyes and is recalling his wife after she abstracted. Presumably he didn't care that she changed and just wanted to reassure her and he's recalling that due to the dark and similar imagery
I would love to see more of Baron and Baroness Mildenhall as cameos in future adventures! They seem to love each other, with each having their own little space in their home for receiving guests.
it's been a theory since episode 1 that he may have contributed to the game by being one of the game testers searching for "bugs" hence why he was obsessed with bug collections but this episode directs us towards his wife being his reason for enjoying bugs. she may not really be an entomologist but instead a computational entomologist. they study, analyze and categorize technical bugs.
The fan theory he had a wife seemed true too, though one of the abstracted character doors (depicting a female version of Kinger whom fans nicknamed "Queenie") doors hinted it already.
It really brings tears to my eyes to all that poetic wisdom Kinger possesses. He gave my soul the understanding that we should appreciate those we appreciate the most. He was so genuine and pure-hearted. I love this character even more
Kingers like that grandpa with dementia, he has those moments of clarity, then forgets and you just know that it's getting to the end of him. Real ironic too that the man who's only himself in the dark, glows.
Bro when kinger and pomni were holding their breath and walking to the stairs why did I almost cry I love how caring and fatherly he is towards pomni in the end of the whole thing while they were sitting together in literal HELL! that was so fucking sweet and heartwarming I love these two friendship it's so wholesome. Also the soundtrack that was playing almost had me in tears as they were walking and holding hands together while leaving hell
I now realize why kinger was so obsessed with insect collections in the first episode, his wife loved bugs, and probably made a collection from adventure they had together. Now kinger was obsessed with talking about them because they reminded him of her, poor guy 😔
I enjoy that caine is characterized as clearly not being evil or malevolent but just, like... wholly unprepared for dealing with the level of psychological torment the people in this situation are in. (I assume) he's programmed to make up silly, fun adventures for people visiting the circus and it was never the intention that people could never leave.
Really puts context into what happened in episode 1, where the exit he ultimately claims to have come up with was nothing but a render of presumably the software company that the Circus's physical hardware exists in. Probably sourced from webcams or things Caine could get access to, since we know the computer Pomni sees in the Circus is a (cleaner) version of the actual thing shown at the end of Ep 1. He did that because he doesn't actually know how to physically allow people to leave the Circus himself (which is probably going to involve bridging across The Void, which Caine admits he doesn't know much about himself), so he was trying the "one thing he's good at" and that's creating a new adventure level.
Yes he seems like he's trying to help them. I think what convinced me he wasn't evil was him trying to create an exit for them, even though he didn't know where the exit would leave to.
Kinger's moment of clarity makes me think of all the people in the world who have relatives/friends with dementia. Any moment where they remember you, for even a second, is unforgettable.
i don't know if it was intentional, but with kinger being the oldest of the circus, a dementia allegory would hit really hard. his moments of sanity are tied to a core memory, one of the only ones he has left, and his time in the light is him "sundowning."
Favorite episode so far I love how the characters react and interact with each other, I also love how they explain more in depth past of the characters and their feelings like how kinger seems sad when talking about his past and his wife because he misses her and how he explains himself more. I also love how zooble explains herself more so we know more about the characters themselves. I also like how we know before kinger was in the circus he was a computer scientist, since he said "Seven years in computer science for this" shows more in depth detail about his past before the circus, plus looking up the ages of the characters themselves kinger is much older so we know more about kinger than any of the characters, we know he was older, we know he worked in computer science when he was in the real world, and Queenie most likely was his wife in the real world and entered the digital world with him and got corrupted by insanity in the digital world where only the darkness of kingers pillow fort was able to calm her down one last time to let kinger basically hold her til she was gone
I like how Caine isn’t some malicious tormentor like AM. He’s genuinely trying to make people happy, which is why he wants to know why Zooble isn’t interested in the adventures.
The thing i loved most about the possessed Pomni part was when the souls taunted Kinger about his wife, Kinger was just not even fazed, like not a thought or action, he only focused on the task at hand. He’s already accepted the loss, or abstraction, of his wife and has moved on. That’s such an incredibly difficult thing to do, especially in the environment they are in, but he is the oldest member of our current cast, so he must’ve had a lot of time to do this Mad respect for Kinger, might be my new favorite character bc of this ep
What bothers me the most is... how did the ghost knew that? Only Caine could have programmed it to know that information. ... Knowing him, he probably gave personal information to the hostile ghost, so it could do a better job to scare the cast. Makes me wonder what he would have said to the others, like Jax or Zoo-... oh. OH. That would have been too cruel.
@@KINGD353 I don't know, I feel like his insanity protects him from abstracting, by preventing him from being able to remember enough to be able to abstract with.
Neat that Kinger is probably the most calm and collected character of the bunch when he is actually able to think and process what is going on. Makes sense too since he's been there the longest, and the surface level insanity is definitely a just coping mechanism. Also like the detail where he crawls into a pillow fort at the end, because its an obvious place of comfort, but not just because it is made of pillows. Its an artificial source of darkness that he can use to just remember positive memories and keep himself going. Poor guy is constantly running a balancing act, that he's been maintaining longer than anyone else remembers. Even himself most of the the time.
It also reminds me the gooseworks' main inspiration for the web series which is i have no mouth but i must scream. The main characters lost their best qualities and got stuck in the eternal hell.
The way that Kinger shone light during that one scene is so poetic: - Him shining bright in the darkness. Brightness can mean "being smart", too. And the darkness brings out the brightness inside him. - And if you'd say that Queenie represents the darkness (since she abstracted and also, she's the black chess piece) and he represents the light (also since he's the white chess piece), it's like the opposites (opponents in chess, too) being inverse puzzle pieces of each other, working together perfectly. - And finally, it's also poetically fitting for the literal context of the scene, glowing a "heavenly" light while guiding Pomni to the way out of hell.
It's great to see the show isn't just wacky unhinged 90's-era aesthetic subversion, but also has a sincere core of humanity and heart. Kinger's my favorite now.
"in this world the worst thing you can do is make someone feel theyre not wanted or loved" is one of the best things ive ever heard and it came from a character who has literally gone insane im gonna go think about that for a little while
I think at the very end when Kinger climbs into his pillow fort and surrounds himself in that darkness: it's his way of wanting to remember the things he has a hard time holding onto.
We see how Pomni takes Kinger’s words to heart by showing appreciation to Ragatha, but notice how she immediately shows appreciation to Kinger right after he says “The worst thing you can do is make someone think they’re not wanted or loved” she says “I’m glad you’re here with me” ❤
this hits SO hard as someone who has dementia run in my family. those brief flashes of clarity are worth so much, and hearing kinger say that it still matters because pomni will remember actually made me tear up
"As long as you remember it, things will be OK." Buddy, that LINE is PREMIUM GOLD! Kinger being the one to say it knowing his memory loss, it rips the soul out of you returns it back in your body in a matter of seconds. Great writing there, seriously.
@@saparapatepete Decent plot twist but isn't that what Cain does when someone abstracts. Drags them down to the cellar and Last episode he was referred to as God.
@@brytoncole7092True but in this series are they talking about the same God? otherswise "other gods" are lowercase g though rather not call them that xT
I love how they very subtly foreshadowed this new side of Kinger in the last episode when he was talking to Ragatha with the bucket over his head because it put him in darkness and he was calmer and able to think straight. I didn't even give it a second thought. I thought it was just like when someone is lucid for a minute before going right back to being crazy. Screen writers take notes THAT is how you foreshadow something properly.
Kinger is an absolute CHAD. Confidently blew two (technically one) monsters away without breaking a sweat and guided Pomni through HELL while making her stronger in the aftermath. Was not expecting that from him, very well written.
He also jumped down the gullet of that door monster just to get Gangle's comedy mask back. Granted, he did forget to find it in the end but it was still very thoughtful of him!
I just realized that around 20:15, the music that played when Pomni and Gummigoo escaped from under the map is softly playing in the background as Kinger talks about good memories with Pomni
I don't know if anyone else realized, but Kinger in this episode really exemplifies the "who you are in the dark" idea. Normally, he's an insane nutcase but becomes a calm and collected father figure when he's literally in the dark.
the fact that at the beginning its just casually stated that kinger glows when he holds his breath only for that to result in the most gorgeous religious-adjacent imagery i've seen in this entire series so far just makes me love this episode so much. this is probably my favourite so far
@@strionic770Caine and Bubble. Cain and Abel. This show has some biblical references. Kinger looking like a guardian angel guiding Pomni through hell is the more obvious one. Wonderful writing
@@strionic770at the end of the pilot their seating arrangements was referencing The last supper Caine is called god by the NPC's the monster was referred to as one of 'God's angels' the whole hell thing there is a lot of religious allegory in this show and it is building up to something
Kinger is starting to become my favourite character in this show. Not only is he supportive, he also speaks in a way a friend should in real life and that’s beautiful. The writing in this show is amazing and I wish most cartoon shows has this. Truly beautiful.
I agree, and Kinger was there for Pomni when she was about to go through another panic attack. She didn't expect to be down in hell and neither did he.
"Okay I won't" is officially my second favorite gag here, second only to Kinger's hands floating off with Zooble's head. The sense of humor here is amazing. And I LOVE how Gooseworx style shines through so hard even with legitimately creepy designs.
And based on how he was so easily able to yoink Pomni back from the souls(?) it shows that he EASILY could have pulled Zooble’s head back to safety, had he only thought to do it
Oh my God the way kinger was being like a father figure to pomni in her time of need was awesome and wholesome I can't he's the best I love kinger he is so sweet and nurturing when in the dark since he can only truly remember things in the dark like his wife and other memories which is why he loves the dark and I find it so adorable and heartwarming
An interesting detail is how Kinger blinks, normally he blinks with one eye and then with the other, but when he was in the dark he started blinking occasionally in a faster and more coordinated way, as if he was gradually regaining clarity, until when they were in hell he stops blinking unevenly completely, when he was completely lucid
wait... is the reason that Caine forgets is because Zooble keeps saying 'forget it', causing the cycle to repeat again and again? or is he really that scatter-brained?
The second is what it's made to look like (and how Zooble takes it), but that other explanation works too perfectly to not be intentional! Kudos to you for managing to spot that detail!
Since Caine is a computer program I think he might be deleting the information intentionally The whole system went unstable when he had his existential crisis so he might have blocked the information out for the safety of the participants
Now Kinger being in the Pillow fort makes sense.. well, more sense.. It's darker.. allows him to think and remember better. Also that revelation about his wife being into insects.. well, in the pilot, he bursts out of his fort saying "did someone say something about an insect collection?" we all thought it was a throw away gag.. it wasn't.. Kinger was remembering his wife! second he's back in the over lit circus, he forgets and goes crazy.. man, this show is so well written!
I like the scene with the eyes in the inconvenient darkness. Looked like traditional animation in that scene. It was a nice touch that wasn’t talked about enough.
I'm so glad this series has a lot of quiet moments where the characters just talk to each other. I appreciate how earnest it is, and it's nice that they're not immediately invalidated with jokes right after.
You know… Kinger’s speech really touched me. Not long ago, my mother passed away very abruptly. I was just talking with her about my friends and things I enjoy just a couple days earlier, then when I came home one day my dad broke the news to me that she had passed. I had no idea. Kinger’s line of “hold onto those around you… you never know when they’ll be gone.” That really struck me after that. I didn’t expect to relate to Kinger so much. Thank you, Glitch, for making such a masterpiece of a show that I can find comfort in it from my own trauma.
I felt much the same. I hope you're doing okay. My mother passed nearly a year ago and sometimes you get reminded in certain ways and it can get to you/ But I want you to know you're not alone.
Everyone is talking about Kinger (rightfully so) but beyond the character the VA absolutely KILLED IT this episode. They nailed the emotional inflections and underpining so well which is really impressive
Kingers monologue was absolutely spot on. The worst you can do is make someone feel like they are not wanted. You have people who care about you, people that won't be there forever and you'll never know when they are gone. So Cherish them and make memories and hold on to those memories.
One thing I noticed: Not only does Kinger gain his sanity back in the dark, but also his blinking becomes straight. When in light his blinks are off-sync, but in the dark he blinks normal. Small, inconvenient detail, but I love it Edit: Before I get anymore replies I just want to say I am aware of Kinger being in computer science, his wife being abstracted, him glowing, and there are some points where kinger blinks off sync in the dark. I am AWARE. Please stop blowing up my notifications with the same exact reply 😭 I'm not trying to seem rude but like it's getting a little irritating To those who keep pointing out kinger off sync blinking in the dark: There are other times where he does blink straight, I'm pretty sure that when he was off sync blinking, it was either meant for comedic effect, or Kinger didn't gain complete sanity back. Thank you
Kinger's monologue actually made me cry for a straight 10 minutes. He's probably my new favorite character in all honesty, and I'm glad we got to see him in the spotlight for an episode!!! Very excited to see more
Yeah, I didn’t expect that. This really hit hard because it reminds me of dementia. Pretty sure I’m starting to watch one of my parents slowly lose their memory. Hell, I may even lose mine before my body goes. And that line where he said to cherish those around you because some day they’ll be gone? Doesn’t just mean death. Some day they may not remember who you are or who they were.
It kinda represents the world to Christians, the world is full of temptations (in this case those tiny flying dust particles) and whenever we can't handle the temptations we lose our sanctifying grace in our soul (representing the scene where Pomni got possessed) and when Kinger was glowing while holding hands with Pomni in the dark hallway, it looked like an angel-orJesus-guiding a believer to Heaven. I was never expecting TADC to have some Biblical references.
@@Blind_Ghostling I like how you explain it, and that it resembled an angel/jesus guiding pomni, honestly they did a great job in this episode considering we saw kingers backstory and zooble expressing his true feelings
Jax being tied up was probably the saving grace for Ragatha and Gangle in their adventure. Also, thank you for this wonderful moment for Kinger and Pomni, in the darkest pits of hell of all places.

Actually, I think its more implied that Kinger and his wife were both bug testers in the game.
Wait the dark fort actually makes sense now. Because it allows him to feel the comfort he felt with his wife? Thats an amazing discovery
That's actually great theory but it

I think He was a teacher before He got in the circus , the way He handles Pomni shows He knows how to deal with children

That part made me laugh too lol

Meanwhile he conquers up exorcism
Thats is one fucking humongous low blow
The fact that Kinger's fort is dark is such a cool detail. He must go in there to remember things

Zooble foiled it by refusing to play.
thats fucking genius
I also wonder… if Zooble hypothetically were to be possessed by NPC souls, would Caine have mistaken the NPC-possessed Zooble for an NPC?
@@CrazyUncleRanen hm idk. part of me wants to say no because npc-possessed zooble would still look like zooble and caine would (hopefully) still be able to identify them, but the other part of me says caine would've most definitely confused zooble for an npc
that’s so smart like what😭
That’s crazy, I saw Caine as a sketchy character you can’t trust but this episode lowkey confirmed it.

wait omg maybe he is??
Caine is an ai, did y’all forget?
Wait I think you might have Cracked the code..😨😰
I think when they say "forget it" it's taken as an instruction, not a phrase
@@GokuBlackRose978 I guess there's a disconnect between the general concept of an AI and what we've come to understand about AI in the past few years. When we learned that Caine was an AI, it made sense because he's a software program emulating a person. But now he's starting to more obviously exhibit the behavior of modern AI. The Terminator is also an AI, but culturally not the same kind.
I can't believe they teased this episode as "Kinger with a shotgun" and then delivered one of the most heartfelt and tragic but still hopeful narratives in web animation as a whole

And on top of that, they really did have Kinger be a brave hero with his shotgun. Wonderful.

“Hark, the Herald Angels Sing, Glory to THE NEWBORN *KING!”* )

Could he be a WW1/2 veteran simce he's the oldest of the group??? 😲
I'm very stupid, so someone please tell me if this idea is stupid...
Retired Veteran 🌎
Also his finger was off the trigger and earlier when he shot the angel he tried to shoulder it but he doesn't have... Shoulders, and aimed it but the model he's holding doesn't have proper iron sights, he might have been trained with a similar model when he was human
Maybe some computer/gun nerd back in reality?
Yeah how his eyes flickered to the gun and her which made him move it away
I really love how Kinger is written here. He’s insane but not stupid. He knows when it’s time to be serious, he’s empathetic & mindful, he cares about his friends, especially Pomni. He cares. I don’t even think I’d call him insane, more traumatized. I love how he’s misunderstood by his friends, but the writers let the audience know his true colors first which is very important
Also I love how he actually uses the gun, most characters written like him usually don’t use a gun properly LOL
Fr I thought this is the classic panic waste both bullet moment but It was way better
I would have thought when he fired it his hands would just fly off from the recoil since they aren't attached, it was nice to see that he braced it against his torso to prevent that.
I think the darkness helped him out with the gun.
i just noticed when kinger was using a gun, i thought it referenced to one game which is shotgun king XD

Hehehe Pomni angwyyy

the fact that kinger becomes sane in the dark because it reminds him of his wife being calm in the dark when she was abtrsacted is really heartwarming, And also kinger gave a phrase saying "the worst thing a person can do is make someone think they are not loved or cared about" which made kinger my favourite chacater.

That’s a really good point
I don't think Caine forgets because he's an Ai
I think Caine forgets because Zooble doesn't want to explain further and says "Forget it" and he follows the instructions and immediately forgets whatever they said
@@victormirandakoepke8352 Or maybe he just flushed it out of his memory after giving them the "solution" because it wasn't necessary to think about anymore.
Not to mention the reason he forgot is because in his perspective, he found a “solution” which is a very robotic thing to do, withhold information then throw it out when a perceived solution is found making the information be perceived as irrelevant/ having no meaning at all. Very black and white thinking which is rather robotic

He's just doing what he was programmed to do, because if he doesn't, well, we've seen what happens...
I hope we see more character develoment from him in the next episode, he is such a charming, silly and interesting character to explore

I LOVE THE IHNMAIMS REFERENCE YES
"FOR I AM CAINE! I. CAINE."
@sobbleedits4363 she sounds like she's emo lol
Omg episode 69 is releasing in 5020! 😮
The thing i loved most about the possessed Pomni part was when the souls taunted Kinger about his wife, Kinger was just not even fazed, like not a thought or action, he only focused on the task at hand. He’s already accepted the loss, or abstraction, of his wife and has moved on. That’s such an incredibly difficult thing to do, especially in the environment they are in, but he is the oldest member of our current cast, so he must’ve had a lot of time to do this
Mad respect for Kinger, might be my new favorite character bc of this ep
What bothers me the most is... how did the ghost knew that? Only Caine could have programmed it to know that information.
... Knowing him, he probably gave personal information to the hostile ghost, so it could do a better job to scare the cast. Makes me wonder what he would have said to the others, like Jax or Zoo-... oh. OH. That would have been too cruel.
I never picked up on him being the oldest one... with that in mind, plus his insanity... i guess if we get a main character abstraction, it'll be him.

@@KINGD353or Zooble, given how they're the only one that don't go into the adventures.
20:08 😢😢😢😢😢
@Anie465 that's ironic since the polish dub three of the gloink queen's children are named after the characters from the book.
I'm proud to say that this is the episode that hooked me. It also made me cry. So, thanks?
The way that Kinger shone light during that one scene is so poetic:
- Him shining bright in the darkness.

I'm watching this almost a month after my mom's passing, and I'm glad I did 😭
*Pomni:* Please dont come alive! 🥺
*Long-dead Corpse:* Okay I won't 😔

I laughed so hard there😆😆

Corpse: understandable, have a nice day
And he kept his word.
I can’t believe I never noticed how Zooble has different parts EVERY EPISODE. Insane foreshadowing.
Bro that's crazy attention to detail good job
"in this world the worst thing you can do is make someone feel theyre not wanted or loved" is one of the best things ive ever heard and it came from a character who has literally gone insane im gonna go think about that for a little while
I think at the very end when Kinger climbs into his pillow fort and surrounds himself in that darkness: it's his way of wanting to remember the things he has a hard time holding onto.
We see how Pomni takes Kinger’s words to heart by showing appreciation to Ragatha, but notice how she immediately shows appreciation to Kinger right after he says “The worst thing you can do is make someone think they’re not wanted or loved” she says “I’m glad you’re here with me” ❤
Pomni crying broke my heart :(
Lets just hope the rest of the fandom sees it the same way (they won't)

I know. It's was so heartbreaking to see her at her breaking point, and it's only been 3 episodes.
Me too. Much like we've seen in episode 2,she's lucky to have some
friends to get through this crazy circus.
this hits SO hard as someone who has dementia run in my family. those brief flashes of clarity are worth so much, and hearing kinger say that it still matters because pomni will remember actually made me tear up

I'm soooo sorry for you, I can only IMAGINE what losing your memory is like.
"As long as you remember it, things will be OK."
Buddy, that LINE is PREMIUM GOLD! Kinger being the one to say it knowing his memory loss, it rips the soul out of you returns it back in your body in a matter of seconds. Great writing there, seriously.
That made me felt so bad hearing that from him
im crying at that moment😭
Reminds me of Omori/Spirited Away
I just hope he remembers enough in his fort to invite Pomni in for the occasional chat, we need more gentle grandpa Kinger moments

At least Caine tried with the plot twists XD
@@saparapatepete Decent plot twist but isn't that what Cain does when someone abstracts. Drags them down to the cellar and Last episode he was referred to as God.
Evangelion reference
Go ahead and capitalize the "G" right there guy. God is always capitalized
To build on top of this, his pillow fort might be a way for him to escape and regain his senses for a little bit
That and the Black Queen door from the Pilot episode when Pomni is shown her room
I was literally about to comment this lol
Reminds me of how the Amphibia writers did a great job of foreshadowing Marcy's death
YEEESSS man im gonna cry
Kinger is an absolute CHAD. Confidently blew two (technically one) monsters away without breaking a sweat and guided Pomni through HELL while making her stronger in the aftermath. Was not expecting that from him, very well written.
Shotgun King
@@doomkitty7579 well said!
He did not panic once, either. Kept all his fear inside and strategized on how to escape.
He also jumped down the gullet of that door monster just to get Gangle's comedy mask back. Granted, he did forget to find it in the end but it was still very thoughtful of him!
@@EEE-1409 RIGHT!!
22:15 I get it now!! Kinger is Pomni's light! (Literally and metaphorically)
I just realized that around 20:15, the music that played when Pomni and Gummigoo escaped from under the map is softly playing in the background as Kinger talks about good memories with Pomni
Good ear
If that's the case then perhaps it will show up again.
oh gosh 😭
Hopefully it's a recurring motif.
god damn ;-;
Wow that so beautifully said. Thank you for that.

@@strionic770Caine and Bubble. Cain and Abel. This show has some biblical references. Kinger looking like a guardian angel guiding Pomni through hell is the more obvious one. Wonderful writing

14:25 That "What?" delivered with the still frame is possibly my favorite gag in this episode.

And based on how he was so easily able to yoink Pomni back from the souls(?) it shows that he EASILY could have pulled Zooble’s head back to safety, had he only thought to do it
it's so... indignant. Like damn girl, I had a whole reanimating cutscene scripted and everything, but if you really don't wanna see it...
@@Gonin049 I hadn't even thought of that; I think you're right!
“please don’t come ALIIVE😫”
the monster's design looks like it would be in "Ghost of the Year" lol
THIS IS WHY I HAVE 600 MILLION SUBS
wait... is the reason that Caine forgets is because Zooble keeps saying 'forget it', causing the cycle to repeat again and again? or is he really that scatter-brained?
The second is what it's made to look like (and how Zooble takes it), but that other explanation works too perfectly to not be intentional! Kudos to you for managing to spot that detail!
I noticed that too!!
Since Caine is a computer program I think he might be deleting the information intentionally
The whole system went unstable when he had his existential crisis so he might have blocked the information out for the safety of the participants
Yes
Yeah because he's an AI. He has limited memories, stops and changes topics randomly, and follows instructions in a too literal sense.
Amen to that.
HOLY SHIT i forgot about the insect collection, great catch.
"Is this an insect collection?" Kinger asks within the dark lair of the multi-eyed monster. 😭
Imagine all the other small details that people overlook, but are actually foreshadowing to something greater in the story...!
@@SomeOrdinaryJanitor I definitely didn't. Sean Chiplock even put that as the quote when giving me an autograph.
True
You know… Kinger’s speech really touched me. Not long ago, my mother passed away very abruptly. I was just talking with her about my friends and things I enjoy just a couple days earlier, then when I came home one day my dad broke the news to me that she had passed. I had no idea. Kinger’s line of “hold onto those around you… you never know when they’ll be gone.” That really struck me after that. I didn’t expect to relate to Kinger so much.
Thank you, Glitch, for making such a masterpiece of a show that I can find comfort in it from my own trauma.

Kingers monologue was absolutely spot on.
The worst you can do is make someone feel like they are not wanted.
You have people who care about you, people that won't be there forever and you'll never know when they are gone. So Cherish them and make memories and hold on to those memories.
3:08 giving doors vibes
One thing I noticed:
Not only does Kinger gain his sanity back in the dark, but also his blinking becomes straight. When in light his blinks are off-sync, but in the dark he blinks normal. Small, inconvenient detail, but I love it
Edit: Before I get anymore replies I just want to say I am aware of Kinger being in computer science, his wife being abstracted, him glowing, and there are some points where kinger blinks off sync in the dark. I am AWARE. Please stop blowing up my notifications with the same exact reply 😭 I'm not trying to seem rude but like it's getting a little irritating
To those who keep pointing out kinger off sync blinking in the dark: There are other times where he does blink straight, I'm pretty sure that when he was off sync blinking, it was either meant for comedic effect, or Kinger didn't gain complete sanity back. Thank you
Я думаю, его моргание просто один из способов отобразить состояние его психики.
Asymmetrical blinking is also a symptom of abnormal brain function!

Yeah, I didn’t expect that. This really hit hard because it reminds me of dementia. Pretty sure I’m starting to watch one of my parents slowly lose their memory. Hell, I may even lose mine before my body goes.
