I returned from a trip to Andertons this morning where I received possibly the best customer service I have ever experienced in a guitar store, or any store to be honest. Your “marketing” on these videos draws people to the store and Paul and his colleagues certainly made it a worthwhile experience. Above and beyond today, thank you!
You should have gone to "Anderton's" instead...🤔😉🤣
@@christoguichard4311 brilliant! Didn’t even notice the autocorrect! Thanks
I'm visiting London in November, is the trip tô Amderton's worth then?
@@pedrohgromero1 absolutely, they have such a great selection of guitars, it’s worth it just to enjoy the view! But if you are after purchasing something, drop in and they will help you out
@@pedrohgromero1 andertons is the best shop ive been to, always good selection, service and price. if you're going to London, you might also wanna have a look on Denmark Street for the history of it, and see a few nice vintage pieces you'll never be allowed to touch.
‘Modern guitars?’
_clutches pearls_
‘Oh oKay, *that* kind of modern’
🤣🤣🤣🤣
Modern-ish
that starcaster is so freakin cool, embarrassed to admit I'd love to have one with fender on the headstock
Fabulous playing. Loved it! Thank you.
I have an Epiphone Les Paul Modern. Fantastic guitar, I love the tones the switching options give me.
Revstars and Yamaha in general have really had my attention lately as has esp and schector...lotta great guitars out there..the Kramer line is gaining on me as well..
Picked up a Yamaha A1M acoustic about two years ago, and absolutely love it. Mahogany body with rosewood neck and fingerboard. You can get rosewood back and sides, too, but I chose not to.
I hate that it's made in China....but you can't tell one bit. The neck feels almost identical to my '94 MIM Strat, as far as smooth, comfy playability & QC. I wouldn't hesitate in buying a Revstar. In fact, I've been eyeballing them myself for about year now. I've been a fan of everything that Yamaha makes for as long as I can remember, though. They make great stuff.
Kramer took a giant dump for me. I bought one and everything was total shite about the guitar.
@@Hiro.the.God. duly noted..thanks for the input🤘🎸🎶
Was it one of the chinese Kramer or the Japanese line?
Agreed. Many great guitars out there in all price ranges. Recently bought a Schecter and I love it. I also bought a Solar Guitar, which is great as well (the one thing I'm still not totally sure about is the Evertune on it, but unfortunately the gorgeous colour I wanted was only available with that bridge :D).
I OBSESSED over the Cobalt Blue Esp Ltd 256 for 2 YEARS and never pulled the trigger on buying one.
Couple of years ago, they were £359.
Guitar inflation is definitely a thing.
Love that they got two blues dads to demo some fine contemporary guitars!
Nah as usual great video! you can't go wrong with these two hosts together, all the guitars were actually really really cool as well!
Another fun video. Great playing and fun interactions. But....need the whiteboard and goggles! Really loved the real shootouts. Thanks as always.
WOW. Awesome Intro. Rockin'. Thankyou Guys. Doesn't everyone need one of each type of Electric Guitar and 7 Strats ....
Nice Back to the Future reference! I can’t believe it took Pete so long to remember the name of the movie though, especially given there’s a DeLorean sitting on the Soldano behind him! Classic movies. Fun video guys
I realize I’m listening to this on youtube through my ipad but when Pete played the LTD I could hear a difference. Probably the best of those 6.
Pick ups definitely sounded louder and cut through more than some of the others
The ESP LH150s aren't bad in house pups, if im being honest. Didn't have much of a need or want to change them when I had my F50 (sadly, discontinued) with them in it.
I have an older version of the LTD ec1000 it’s better than any Les Paul I’ve played
@@thornwivansI own an ec256 since 2015. I'm not sure if they've changed the stock pick-ups, but mine sounded a little bit muffled by the time I bought the guitar. Playability, though, was great. In 2017 I replaced the pickups with some handmade ones (I'm from Brazil, SD and Dimarzio are quite expensive around here) and the versatility I've got from this guitar is incredible
Love the intro, shared first place with the bullet mustang doom intro
I really liked the the revstar, the sg and the chapman. Very nice sounding guitars for the price.
Always great to hear Leo Nocentelli get a shout out. One of the greats. Would love to see a Meters riffs appreciation vid by you guys
I've got the Jag and I love it, so great to see it getting a bit more of a showcase than in previous videos. However, I would have definitely pulled the trigger on the Revstar if I'd been in the market a few months later when they announced the new model ranges...
I own a black standard Rev Star with p-90s and it’s INCREDIBLE
The ESP looks amazing for the price
I've had one for a couple of years already. It's phenomenal for it's price (and I got mine in 2015, it was waaaay cheaper). I just had to change the pick ups for something brighter, but playability was incredible since day 1. Excellent fretwork.
These are great. so many to choose from.
I am Fender/Squier through and through (15 guitars 12 are Fender)...but I find myself drawn towards the Yamaha Revstar. Love it.
All great guitars; I guess for ME, if I had to pick a 'least favorite', it's gonna be the Epiphone SG---I DO like them and it is absolutely beautiful, but this one is just too busy for me with 3 push/pull pots. That's just me; I've (personally) just not got use for all that.
That being said; if a dying friend or relative wanted to give me any of these, I would gladly have it and keep it. If I buy one of the six, it will be the Revstar.
Great video guys!
If Yamaha would make a left-handed Revstar with P90s, I'd be all over it.
Sorry Lefty, it’s not the Lefrorium, the world was made for righties. So many people bitchine about sex and race…..where’s the lefty revolution?!
They’re pretty much symmetrical so just hendrix it 😂
that intro jam was amazing
Much appreciated shootout!
cosmetically most beautiful ec-256 I've ever seen, looks like ec1000 :)
Love this video concept
1 minute into the video and the Captain is pick tapping? WTAF kind of parallel universe did I fall into???
lol, my thoughts to a t!
I love comperisons. Also in higher price ranges. helps a lot prior buying a guitar. thanks.
The EVH Wolfgang Standard has totally hooked me.
A couple of years back I was in the market for a somewhat "different" guitar. The last two were the Reverend Manta Ray and the Yamaha Revstar. I took the Reverend but everytime I see a Revstar I think, that I need one as well.
To be fair, the proper amount of guitars is what you have now + 1.
Guys. I got an Epiphone SG from you lot and subsequently had it signed by the Legend of ACDC fame. Great guitar and soooooo nice to rock out on. One snag with this vid. You never showed the colourways for the Jag HH ST. If you have a white one in stock; keep it cos I've basketed one for the 22nd. Card payment on the day first thing. If noe white, the bloo will doo!
Thanx; Dug Wolfe. 🐺
I'd love to see you guys do the Kingfish Tele Deluxe.
Same actor also uses the term "Slacker" in the He-Man live action movie.
I used to have the japnese aerodyne and it was awesome... and I think it looks amazing
Personally I liked the Starcaster. Did you have to do a setup on each before the video? How are the tuners and nut? Very nice comparison.
I have that LTD Les Paul and I love it, but the Yamaha might be my next guitar. Beautiful!
Things I didnt think I would see today. A shredding Captn
Damn! I've never heard you guys do a hard rock jam like this before! I didn't know you had it in you! Cheers!
Edit: Of all the two humbucker guitars, the Epi SG Modern sounds the best.
Holy moly both you guys killing it equally here!!! EXCELLENT is an understatement!!!! The Chapman ML3 for me! I do have to admit though Squier and Epiphone have absolutely stepped up their game and for the money to me, the best buys.
D-mn, the opening jams just keep getting better and better!
@UCTRj7cjf8O2ukbQe090Oo9A Let me guess, I just have to pay the shipping? ROFL. 🤣
MORE like this please!
And the stools you folks use when recording... got a link to them? they look comfortable as hell.
That Revstar with set neck and rosewood at £399 is an absolute steal. Also proves there's no excuse for Fender to ruin their affordable models with Pau Ferro and Laurel.
Nothing wrong with these woods though.
#capitalism
Laurel makes me angry, Pau Ferro makes me disappointed
There really isn’t anything inherently wrong with those woods, but fender especially started with maple as the only option but feel the need to fake the rosewood to get I’ve the consumer the illusion of it, but it’s never gonna be the rosewood you want.
@@felkikid sounds like a you problem.
Jag for me, man. Always wanted one. Especially in that blue.. ooff, that is nice lookin' lol
Hiya fellas, enjoyed comparison. One thing if possible can you give the weigh in discription ie. 8.5 kgs. It seems to be more relevant nowadays. 👍🥃Respect to you fellas.
Really liked the Starcaster. Very cool guitar !
A type of guitar I don't have (yet).
Already own a LP/Strat/Tele/super Strats (no interest in an SG).
Might have to take a look at one of those.
I have that Contemporary Jaguar and it is an amazing guitar. The phase thing works in all positions it makes turn humbucker into parallel mode. In that mode, the coil split doesnt work. I think it's simmilar to Stratocaster positions 2,4.
I just got some 1957 single coils for a Strat build... and realized I need to go older! lol. I guess I 'll make it modern in my old way, just never expected to prefer that old school.
I really dug the ec 256 for the price, I ended up trading it because I didn't like the stock pickups
The ltd house pickups are OK, just kind of bland and sterile but they sound good with pedals
The really annoying thing was the cavities weren't shielded which made alot of ambient noise, and the truss rod on mine was very sensitive and needed frequent adjustments
Again for the money it makes an excellent player guitar I'm just a little picky
ESP LTD been killing it past few years
12:35 Hi-pass filter on many Satriani Ibanez's... I've learned from knowledgeable fans, shines when you roll the volume down to around 4/10 and it becomes quite 'bell' like [or chime-y?]. Maybe on this Rev Star, too? [different pickups, body woods, etc... though.]
Pete Before filming the Intro Jam:
"Hey Captain, can you do a 'Sound Like Chappers'?"
That Jag is gorgeous.
The Revstar clearly stole the show here for me, but the Starcaster was also really cool, and the Jaguar had a bit of funkyness on the neck tone that was unexpected.
Nice to see some different guitars getting a run through. Some mention of weight and how they behave on a strap would be useful, particularly with guitars like the hollow Starcaster and its unusual headstock.
That needs to be part if every guitar review
@@jeffreymorreale7223 Weight was a major criteria for my last bass purchase for sure
Exactly what I was wondering about! I always buy a guitar only if it doesn't suffer from a neckdive!
there was also a Starcaster Strat recently I have one in black with pearloid pick guard..
Yamaha Revstars = Next-Gen Yamaha SGs.
And I love them, because of that.
Yes do a SG vs. Les Paul blindfold video, use a wide range of price levels see if Pete can pick them out audibly and feel wise.
You would instantly be able to tell based on the neck joint. The fret access on an SG is much better than any non Axcess model Les Paul. I would still love to see if Pete can guess SG or Les Paul while someone else is playing them.
The Captain has become one gosh dang helluva player!!!!
Good to see Yamaha getting more into the game. LTD and Schecter are still best bang for buck.
I bought a revztar standard. It showed up with a headstock break. Also in the box it was just loose in a ill citting giv bag no real padding and no neck support so the cracked headstock was a poor packaging issue not a guitar quality issue. Id say if you want a standard go to a shop in person
Yeah the gig bags for Yamaha guitars up to $600 are pretty much just dust covers. Although I'd agree this was a packing issue, folks should figure the price of a good gig bag into any Yamaha purchase in that range.
Regarding the Peter Green tone, don't you also need to flip the poles on the PU magnet as well as reverse the wiring?
That was awesome lads. I love the sounds like videos, with Dave and Ci Ci. Anything with them in it is great. And some more bass stuff in general.
@5:50 - The yellow RevStar "Essential". ??? Is this available from Asda? :). If that's the case, I'm getting two. :)
PLEASE DO SG vs LES PAUL
I can’t make up my mind!!!
That jag is wired perfectly
20:44 didn't know that! pretty cool
i love my squier contemporary tele rh
Try the Yamaha Revstar Element at Guitar center. Compared the RS with the Epiphone Les Paul, prefer the Yamaha. It gives more clarity and definitions than the EP Les Paul.
Multiple guitars do a blindfold comparison between electric guitars acoustically, have the guitarists pic the most pleasing to hear acoustically then see if that impression holds when plugged in and another blindfold test.
REVVVV it up folks! those yammys are amazing
Unfortunately, eventually your guitar collection can fill all the available space you have and you have to make the dreadful decision of which one(s) to part with to make room for something different. I have 3 Strats & 2 Teles (amongst others) and they each sound different enough that I can't bring myself to part with any of them !
I've just "rescued" a 2003/2006 Tanglewood AS39 jazz semi acoustic from a Cash Converters shop and it takes up nearly as much space as 2 solid bodies !
If space was not an issue I'd have a Starcaster & a Revstar please.
Never thought I'd see Dr. Sheldon Cooper and Leo DiCaprio jammin' 😁
I like the Starcaster
when it comes to the revstars, I really wish they'd kept the dry switch on the mid-range models. I love the way it sounds in this video. Coil splits/taps never really sound that good to me. But you cant get the element models with p90s.
I wish they’d make one with a tremolo
Curious to see what Pete would do with a THBB10, food for thought
You should mention if left-hand versions are available on any guitars you demo
only the yamaha is for us leftys. . this is the cheapest version of the revstar by the way.
@@1972Georges Why not just learn to play right handed. Being left handed never stopped the likes of Mark Knopfler or Gary Moore to name a few.
@@1972Georges The LTD EC-256 is available as a lefty too.
@@seneorbobson8582 thanks for the info. Like this model look wise…
@@markgowans you’re funny
The Starcaster is fantastic (the Affinity and Classic Vibe with passive pups sound better imho); Fender should make a proper one instead of having them only under the Squier brand
Intro solos reminded me of "You could be mine".
The revstars are interesting guitars. Might have to pick one up
They increased the body size on the latest models and that blew it for me. I was just on the verge of buying one.
I tested one in a Guitar Show in Italy, honestly don't get all the hype. Good guitars, but wouldn't necessarily put them above an Epiphone (the ones in the same price rance, ofc)
@@dezertson2011 get an older model!
The newer version is weigh relieved/chambered. I don’t like heavy guitars.
Chris Buck has everyone excited over these. Frankly, he got me excited too, until I found out they increased the body size.
While the other guitars still look good, it seems like Squire have upped there game with these two. I did like the way they considered what function the switches of the Jaguar would do rather than just copy the wiring design from the original design which features single coil pickups. The fact that both have roasted necks just gives me a quality feel for the price range.
Finally, after 60 years the Jag is modern :)
Hey fella’s! How bout a video on the best low gain dirt pedals or best boost pedals? Thanks
Nice
If you haven't at least watched Chris Buck play his Yamaha, you need to do that.
04:25 "we are not talking about now, Strats, Telly, Les Pauls" ... says Lee holding a telecaster, nods Pete holding a les paul 😜
i would probably get a revstar if they had put at least one out that had a more modern bridge rather than a t.o.m. style bridge
I’m so used to 4 knobs guitars that is difficult for me to try 2 knobs because I play a lot with the tones and volumes.
Same here. I feel metal guys have few uses for these, tho
That Yamaha Revstar has a very Gretsch-y sound to it, I like it. Not a fan of the colour though.
Thank God for Anderson's TV
LOL 😂 that blue Jaguar by squier looks ten times nicer than my fender player Jaguar!
Something made Captain tone on all guitars way better and juicier than Pete had this time. I don't know what it was but I need to know!! :-)
Lee just keeps getting better and better. Must be some of Pete's chops are rubbing off on him!
Which backing track were you guys using in the intro?
Not sure why you would do the SG modern rather than a Les Paul prophecy those are some of the best guitars out I still have and love my 2011 with the Gibson pickups two knobs blade inlays and crazy quilt top veneer
Get test drives, was surprised that the Squier was not quite up to par. Why can't Fender buy some rosewood stock from other company's that put out less expensive guitars?
Is the Chapman ML3 available with non-reversed headstock?
I Love that Starcaster. But, As Usual, No Lefty. So it Sucks. Please tell us if guitars come in Lefty so I don't have to spend time searching for it.
That is a lot of guitar in the opening jam. Lol.
What color Revstar standard do you have?
That SG copy sounds great - and with the coil splits no less!
which one?
8:51 such low decibels! 😂
