    What is incomprehensible is that Fender did not think offering Ty a Signature Stratocaster ... In the 80s he was one of the few to offer a unique and exceptional guitar tone.

      That's right! I always wondered the same thing. Those Elite strats were fantastic. He stopped using them because they were on the noisy side, despite the active pickup system designed by Fender. If they could have refined that and worked with him, perhaps put EMGs in them, he could have kept using the Elite. He had a tone like nobody else. That active single coil tone though some very interesting solid state amps was very unique at the time. I like going between humbuckers and single coils and out of all the pickups I own I prefer the EMG 81/89 set I put in my cheap Schecter Deluxe. It sounds like a million bucks. I also love the Duncan Full Shred and Jazz combo on my strat. They coil split very well. The Full Shred is one of the most well defined humbuckers I've ever used. It's name does it no justice, because it's about much more than shred. It's like a Duncan Custom with an A5 mag and tighter, faster response. It works well for my style which includes very high speed alternate picking. It tracks more clearly than any of my DiMarzios. You've got to experiment with guitars and amps and pedals to get the right tone. The rest of it is all in the fingers.

    His tone with the Dual Rec. was epic. Dogman was such a heavy album.

    His strat elite and Gibson amp combo was ‘it’ for me. Nothing, No one has ever come close to having such a identifying tone on record than his Gretchen/FaithHopeLove era albums.
    Please Ty, just one more album with that set up.

    Been a big Kings X fan for a long time, but never listened to Ty's solo albums until I chanced upon this just now. Listening to Alien Beans just now and it's utterly fantastic. Great riffs, great production, great vocals, reminds me of so much of what turned me on to Kings X in the first place. Ty is a fantastic musician, composer and producer.

    • @jhaj457
      @jhaj457 3 года назад +1

      Regardless. The music - even if it is King's X - on the background is too loud. It is distracting for the most part, at least for my taste. It takes away from the interview. Less is more I'd say.
