    This was mesmerizing! It completely captivated my 5 yr old twins. They held this edition in their hands and followed along as you made each part. Totally counting this as a homeschooling lesson on craftsmanship. Keep up the beautiful work!

      This. This comment made every second of effort of putting together this video worth it. Send a little high five their way for being an excellent crowd.

    I loved the presentation and background music. I found it refreshing to not listen to narration for a change. Brilliantly done. Thank you for sharing this!

    My goodness! What amazing care and love goes into making these! It makes me appreciate them all the more having seen this video. I buy mine in the UK from Stuart Lennon and absolutely love them - so unique and so beautiful! I may have to go back and buy the ones I didn’t get before my subscription started. Thank you so much!

    Beautiful project.
    Q: what reason do you add the outer sleeve with the book facing going from back of book ?

    • @dappernotes
      @dappernotes  2 года назад

      I'm not sure what you mean, exactly? If it's the belly band you're referring to, that's just packaging.

    is there anything special about the black book cloth? I just tried to buy it at the store and they looked at me like i was crazy, thanks!

    • @dappernotes
      @dappernotes  4 месяца назад

      It's just bookcloth. Most bookcloths that you'll find in retail stores have a paper backing which is a wee bit harder to work with. You might have better luck at places like Talas or Hollanders

  • @lssphx
    @lssphx 11 месяцев назад

    Beautiful work… which cutter are you using at the ~5:51 minute mark? It seems to have a turnable clamp down to hold the papers while cutting?

    • @dappernotes
      @dappernotes  11 месяцев назад +1

      it's a generic stack cutter (aka guillotine)

    What is the powder? And what kind of thread did you use?

    • @dappernotes
      @dappernotes  4 года назад

      It's an embossing powder, which solidifies with heat.
      All of the notebooks are made using waxed linen thread.

    You make it look so easy. Tried making some today and they are hot garbage. Guess I’ll just have to be a buyer instead of a maker.

    • @dappernotes
      @dappernotes  2 года назад +2

      you only get better by keeping at it and trying again. it may be hot garbage now, but in a few months you'll turn em into diamonds im sure

    This would be vastly better with actual narration while you're making these things rather than pointless music. What is the point of the cork for example I have no idea. Also show the finished product first so we know exactly what the goal is.

    • @dappernotes
      @dappernotes  11 месяцев назад +3

      the point is my enjoyment. the goal is me playing around and having fun. my sincerest apologies that my personal entertainment didn't entertain you, internet stranger

    I love your DIY press, the way you attached the end of the threads to the board is just perfect :). Where did you get such a threaded rod? I'd love to build my own press some day.

      It's called a "Pony Press Screw". You can find them by many retailers online
