wow what a trip down memory lane , i saw my house i lived in the late 80s on sandy point road... area defo changed since then , creek rd was like a mini las vegas for us teens in the late 80s early 90s 🤣 thank you for great vid and song
Loved on Southwood Rd from 71 to 77, only we left was my Dad had several minor strokes and needed a wheelchair unfortunately buses at that time were not wheelchair/pushchair accessible.
At the moment it's just a normal day with maybe the odd road work traffic lights but OK. Once lock down is over I reckon there could be a good chance it will start getting really busy.
Tap water quality I personally think is fine, sewage on the other hand, unsure! There have been mentions about it due to the sewage station at the top of Langstone Harbour (Havant) but I haven't witnessed anything of im totally honest. Also whilst flying my drone during the first lock down everyone mentioned how clear the sea water looked! More people at home, more toilets being used but yet the water looked clearer! Who knows.
So sad to see what's happened to Hayling island, I live down Southwood road, the whole place seems full of crack heads and meth zombies, I've had two bikes stolen since I've been here and there's been so much crime, and it's the same people, but nothing ever gets done! I used to love Hayling and spent most of the summer holidays here as a youngster, but the whole place has just gone downhill I'm afraid. 😢
Mrs Richards: "I paid for a room with a view !" Basil: (pointing to the lovely view) "That is Torquay, Madam ." Mrs Richards: "It's not good enough!" Basil: "May I ask what you were expecting to see out of a Torquay hotel bedroom window ? Sydney Opera House, perhaps? the Hanging Gardens of Babylon? Herds of wildebeest sweeping majestically past?..." Mrs Richards: "Don't be silly! I expect to be able to see the sea!" Basil: "You can see the sea, it's over there between the land and the sky." Mrs Richards: "I'm not satisfied. But I shall stay. But I expect a reduction." Basil: "Why?! Because Krakatoa's not erupting at the moment ?"
It used to be beautiful!! But your so right it’s declined so much now as an ex islander it breaks my heart when I return to see how it is now,bit like Skegness kind of atmosphere I feel 😢

2 great summer holidays at Warners and Pontins 70 + 71. With my dad when I was 16 & 17.
Happy simple memories when days were so much simpler.
My Grandmother left Hayling Island to come to Canada. Thank You. Someday maybe....
I was hoping the drone would fly over Mengham Avenue and Webb Lane so i could see my house. Perhaps in another video.... Beautifully done , though.
Beautiful! I can see my house!
Very nice,👍
A run down area at the end of a traffic jam
I want a monorail running from Pompey to Brighton along the sea front. What a link that would be !
Good Dover sole fishing spot .

Been visiting Hayling island since 1966.
P.s the locals are very insular and cliquey.
Is there a lot of traffic coming in and out of the island ?

@@BulldogDeanoP I am thinking od moving there around, is the water quality good from the tap and how is the sewage, can you please tell me this ?

Not the prettiest island in the world, like a council estate on a peninsular.
