  • In this video, I detail the major named runs/chutes on one of Snowbird's best aspects/bowls The Cirque. Although Snowbird doesn't have any official triple black diamonds, I use triple blacks to signify a potential mandatory straight line or drop/cliff or both. Before venturing down any of the double or triple blacks mentioned in this video please visually inspect the conditions from the tram and it's always advisable to do a run-out inspection to physically check conditions.
    If you would like more detail please see the Ultimate guide for specific lines and features on the cirque. • Snowbird | Cirque Seri...

    Love this format. I'm going to Snowbird in a week for the first time and this is fantastic. Beats any map.

    These are great videos. Are there any other lines you can include? For example the ivory tower straight line next to death chute. Please continue these!

      Thanks! I was hoping people would pitch in and name more features, not sure I can edit this video. But will definitely keep a list and work on adding more lines and feature names for version 2.

      Cool. There is a straight line through grey zone called the diagonal too. That’s all I got, not a local just go there 7 days a year

      Awesome! Will add that too, I am a local and I never knew most of these names or features! Thanks for pitching in. I am planning on doing some more of these videos for Baldy and Silver Fox. Since most the features are named from the freeride comps. Mineral basin and Little Cloud would be fun too, man Snowbird has so much stacked terrain. Even Gadzoom has a ton of stuff!

      @@benoveson yeah the amphitheater / broom closet area and silver fox would be super helpful. Also maybe get serious, not much out there on how to access each door. That it does, I know it decently but not great. Ever need Mammoth line names im your guy

      Use triple blacks to represent mandatory straight lines or drops?

    • @benoveson
      @benoveson  7 месяцев назад +9

      Use different symbols like a lightening bolt (Stright line), Cliff (Mandatory Drop), or Skull (No fall zone)?

      Most of the names and designations of these runs dates back to the days before fat, shaped, uber rockered skies with little to no camber. It took precision skiing to brave these runs back in the day. These days anyone on a pair of 185 116 Big Chickee Boy skis with 30/30% rocker can jump into these runs.

    0:09 green sqaure? What's next? Black circle? Blue diamond?

      Lol, was testing out a way of grading cliffs similar to runs. But I guess I didn't release that a green is a circle. I gave up on this method in my updated video. But you can't edit the video portion after you post in youtube, which sucks for guides. So now Im putting names and info in the description so I can make corrections along the way. Thanks for the feedback!

    The area labeled Middle Cirque at 0:25 is actually Lower Cirque.

    Getting to the cirque nowadays will destroy the bottom of your gear. Too many skidders and snow pushers on the cirque traverse

    Terrible conditions to be showing the cirque. You should actually wait till there’s some snow.

      I'm hoping to do a similar video for different snow levels. Unfortunately, the good snow days usually have bad visibility, so took the opportunity on a sunny day to film. Thanks for your feedback.
