As someone who's only watched the Hunger Games movies in pieces when they aired them on TV, I was so pleasantly surprised by this prequel. I enjoyed it so much that I'm now wanting to go and finally watch the original ones from beginning to end. I agree that the drone mechanic was super goofy, I wonder what it was like in the books lol. I also didn't really get the reasoning behind the girl's betrayal at the end, and I was left sympathising only with Cornelius's character. I loved the 50s inspired aesthetics of the movie and the world building explaining the origins of how the modern Hunger Games came to be. I'm so glad to hear that the studio is letting the author decide the course of the franchise and not forcing her to spit out material for a quick cash grab like studios seem to have done with other franchises (I was a fan of the Divergent series and that one was treated so badly I'm still mad about it and hoping for a future series adaptation redemption). P.s. you're so cute, and the "signing off" move is adorable, we even got to see it twice this time
That had to have been an interesting experience not having seen the others in their entirety before watching this one. Were you lost in any way, or did you know enough that it all made sense? Yeah I don't think the Hunger Games movies are 10/10 movies, but I did enjoy them way more than I thought I would, and would recommend you watching them! As far as the drones go, yeah I really wonder if there was more background given in the book as to why they operated that way, or maybe the sequence was totally different in the book? Yeah I thought her double-crossing Snow at the end was random and you're right, we weren't really given her motivation exactly. Yes I meant to mention the 50's-ish aesthetics was great. I never watched the Divergent movies, but I had heard they got worse and worse unfortunately. I do appreciate it seems they aren't pressuring the author; that should lead to much better quality than them trying to crank them out. Also, thank you, that is very flattering haha!
Excited to see it! I like that they chose a new storyline. Snow is an interesting character so I’d like to see his beginnings. I’ve read the books so I’m looking forward to it
Yeah it sounds like you should definitely check it out! I’d be interested to hear how good of an adaptation it is of the book; from what I hear it’s pretty close, but not 100% sure
I stand corrected! Another comment from someone who read the book also said Tigris is Snow’s cousin. I must have assumed she was his sister and thought that was mentioned in the movie. Thank you for letting me know!
Tigris is not his sister, they are COUSINS. I read the book, so yes, I know for a fact it’s his cousin. And they do not state it in the movie that they are siblings. But they are family lol
This is underrated!! Also I understand not reading the book because some parts are a little confusing, however that’s why I think it’s a great adaptation because it makes things that didn’t make sense in the book make sense in the movie. I also agree with rooting but also not for Snow!
Good to know that it is a great adaptation; that’s an interesting perspective. Yeah it definitely makes it conflicting with Snow being the main protagonist haha. Appreciate your comment!
Thanks for the review! I was trying to decide whether to see it or not. It has been so long since the other Hunger Games movies and there is a lot that I have probably forgotten. Do you think I should take the time to rewatch the others? Would that make this newest movie more enjoyable or make more sense??
Sure thing, appreciate you watching and commenting! That’s a good question; I would say it’s probably not worth the time to watch all 4 and then watch the new one. It is a prequel and while it expects you to already be familiar with The Hunger Games universe, I think as long as you have a very general understanding of it all, you shouldn’t be lost. There’s so much new here with very little callbacks to the other movies. Heck, you might want to watch the others after this one. I know it got me in the mood to rewatch them 🤷🏻♂️
@@Guywithnonamereviews thanks for your input! I am kinda relieved I shouldn’t have to watch all the others to enjoy this one! 😊. It’s hard to find that much free time!
@@ILoveLucyFangirl Lol yes I totally get where you are coming from! Let me know if you do end up seeing it and what you thought about it. Hopefully you don’t come back and are like, “you were wrong, I was super confused…” :P
Rachel has a really big head of pride for a so so actress with 3 huge bombs in a row counting her helping to cause the pushing of the new wine Snow White back over a year
Yeah after her recent comments on Snow White, I don’t care for her as a person. She does a good job here, but I too am thinking I will skip that remake and just stick with the original
I get that! I will say at the end of the day, the focus is more on Blyth as Snow, with her being the 2nd lead character (as opposed to her being the co-lead), but she is still a big part of the movie.
if you skip this movie just cause of rachel then you genuinely need to grow up lol. she’s fantastic in it and you need to revisit what she said cause it wasn’t that bad
@@ryyaannn_ Just my thoughts: I personally wouldn’t skip the movie just due to Zegler, but I will say I was not a fan of her comments myself and it pissed a lot of people off. The goal of an actor getting interviewed about an upcoming project is to generate excitement, and even if you didn’t mind the comments, she did manage to divide a lot of the potential audience. But that’s about all I’ll say on the matter, as I don’t want to get into politics or anything like that (not the purpose/point of this channel).
I don’t support people who are woke and push it in their comments and actions. I do not reward them with my money. If you think it’s a big deal to miss a movie then perhaps that’s childish. Woke ideas and projects are hurting people. The movie already made 60% less than all the others from the series at opening and that’s before you adjust for inflation.@@ryyaannn_

Yeah I have not read the book, but I believe in the movie it said she’s his older sister.
