The simple observation about Nick Daicos is what you would tell your 12 year old son or daughter every week, - do something that is a 'positive' for your TEAM. Nick Daicos's positivity to the team is his greatest asset - pretty simple.
As a Swans supporter who believes our centreline is fantastic the player that has stood out for me has been Merrett from Essendon - great Captain who tackles, brings players in to the game and kicks goals.
Hoyney mate, don't give me hope. It's been a great year for us bomber fans so far but I won't believe we have really changed until we win a final. Until than I'll keep treating every win as a happy surprise, rather than the expected result, and than milk that happy surprise for all the joy its worth until our next game 😀
real honestly
I'm with you... It looks great but I can't trust them until it happens...
then dont support them clown boy. if you cant enjoy this season bombers are having you should not watch this sport if your expectation is flag or bust. you should not deserve to brag a premiership win if you dont celebrate some regular season success that is building the foundations of a finals run.
@@aarongould1485 real dumbassery
This year, you will. It's a finals list with (finally) a good structure given to you by the second best coach in the league after Horse Longmire.
you can tell hoyney reads the comments. the week after the “if you like” massacre he didn’t say it at all and now consciously stops himself.
People when they realise champion data takes off ratings on turnovers and terrible kicking... Something daicos had in that game that led to multiple crow goals. 30% kicking should tank your rating, its woefully bad for a topline player. His ball use is nowhere near how good it was last year. Nick has to play that role atm because of how many outs they have, but when their midfield comes back in imo he should go back to being a ball use first player.
That was by far his worst kicking game, but his overall ball use has not been worse this year. At least not by a lot. You just notice it when he messes up, not when he does something fine
I should also add this. He is playing a tougher role so all his disposals have been more under pressure
Did you actually watch the video? They literally spend the first five minutes talking about how they separated ball winning and ball use in their statistical system.
@@robsonbennett-cochrane2004 yet stats show otherwise. The last two weeks his ball use hasn't been worse. People were getting mad about his ratings because he had 40 touches. Disposals don't equal impact like everyone thinks it does, look at Sheezle having more impact despite 10-15 less touches. People are so hyper fixated on numbers and remove all context from them. Daicos's ball use this year statistically has been meh, his ball winning has been great. But when degoey n stuff come back in you'd probably want him on the outside again
@@robsonbennett-cochrane2004his kicking has been very poor this year and half his handballs are useless stats.
I'm an Essendon boy, and to be honest, I'm not fully sold either, yet. Been burnt too many times. But, we do have actual professionals with skill in their craft, that want success running the place NOW.
Amazing how Daicos' ball use has declined has coincided with the amount of injuries to the Collingwood forward line, maybe not having anyone to kick to is the reason for this. The only week it was poor was against the crows and C'wood had to put De Goey forward as they had no one over 6ft to kick to.
Cool story bro. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
No it hasn’t, it’s declined because it’s a lot harder to deliver midfield and forward than from cheap kicks when you’re running free in the back half. He needs to get use to a change in pressure on his disposals, he will get there.
@@Littleyeti7 Incorrect up until the Adelaide game he was the most damaging midfielder in the game over a 4 week period about 75% of his clearances were leading to scores. The Daicos hate is amazing, it can be broken up like this. Season 1 he was just a receiver, season 2 still a receiver who can't deal with tags, season 3 he can't kick. It's all just mental gymnastics to justify your belief he is overrated.
Love this segment 👍💪😎
Any chance of getting this uploaded the same night this airs?
I've watched Nick play and he is basically getting the ball out of clearances and just booting it forward. Usually it would be Mitchell or degoey getting the ball out to nick who would be much more efficient with a little more room to move
He's also been coughing up easy kicks aswell
@@stevelozevski8151Just accept the fact that he is on track to be the goat xx
@@OwlJohlson cool story bro 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Love hearing a statistician say 'doing this job for 15 or 20 years'....
😂
The crow flow
The “ball use” statistics are highly flawed. You have to consider that Collingwood haven’t had a tall forward over the past month hence of course there will be more turnovers and a lower % of “effective kicks”. Use the eye test, far more effective. Daicos has missed a few kicks over the past games. So what? Kids a freak. Ranking him 21st on the ground with 10 coaches votes tells you your ranking is flawed.
less than 1/3 kicks going to a teammate againts the crows is horrific lol He gave them multiple goals off turnovers. That is horrid, their raitings measure impact. Not just raw disposals like most others
Other than Neale which inside mid has high disposal efficency?
You’re telling me Adelaide have two blokes who are apparently dominating the stats with ball winning and ball use but they can’t win games? Obviously not that valuable!
Mate it’s 22 player team 2 people can’t make the difference
1941 same astronomical alignment + war. Essendon, Melbourne grand final, Melbourne win.
Good pickup! Ess v Melb GF would be refreshing, also would give Dees a chance for revenge for 2000 🥸
Hoyney, how can you use the Essendon stat with any sort of relevance when they've played the bottom 3 in the last 4 games?
Hawthorn are coming!
if you like.
So now the comicon nerds believe in Essendon, never took in to account we were
Missing our 2nd best player, instantly bog.
Did that Boss fella say you only have try to do a legal disposal you didn't have to necessarily succeed doing it legally 😮
Daicos is a gun. Show some respect
Didnt North get someone from champion data to help build their list? Howd that work out?
😂😂😂
Essendon are not contenders yet. GWS game was the sides most complete game but they haven't been able to replicate it. The squad is tracking in the right direction just need more constant high quality performances.
All their losses are away games?
@MrWhitmen1981 regardless of result, we just don't seem polished. Could be a dark horse or outside chance but not a contender from what I've seen.
Agree. They will fall away is my bet. Had an easy run thus far.
@@TsMexi_ to continue winning games where you arent playing a complete game is exactly what you want - if they have more improvement to produce based off this list - then they will be a chance to break their finals duck this year...
@@justinhevey5182 didnt you hear the stats? they are 2nd best defensive team in the comp over last 6 weeks - they are getting better as season goes on... not getting worse...
you can throw around any stats you like, fact is daics is a jet and is impacting our results every week. He is the best player in the comp
I don't think he is. What now?
He’s one of the best in the comp I’ll accept that but he’s definitely not THE best 😂
Not fact!! Your opinion (which is absolutely valid) but not fact!!
nowhere near the most impactful player in the comp this year lol
I guess Issac Heeney has been playing golf all season then if that it is the case.
The recency bias on Daicos is incredible, people acting as if two weeks means he's suddenly lost the ability to kick
It's been like that all year
@@stevelozevski8151 Hoyney explicitly says his ball use has been worse since he's been asked to take up an inside mid role, which has only been for two weeks - definitely not all year
@@flynnleeson4490 I've been watching him play and he's kicking has been crap all year. Not to mention half his handballs are useless and only stat collectors
@@stevelozevski8151 I'm glad we can rely on one blokes eye test over the statistics 👍 It'd be tough for a bloke doing nothing with the footy for 11 weeks to be rated 16th overall and top 10 for score involvements
@@flynnleeson4490 score involvements? Can you clarify what those involvements were?
Big test for the blue boys next two games , 💪😎😎😎
No Zach merret for the 4?😹
Damn imagine if swans still had Dawson yikes
So rankin is a top 10 player in the comp after all… Cornes was wrong as usual, owes kingy an apology
I've been saying this since daicos entered the league.
He's been allowed to be the best player in the comp because no one put pressure on him.
He turns the ball over when put under physical pressure.
If he can improve this he will probably win multiple brownlows
Nick is already a victim of his own high standards, 3rd season in, amazing the scrutiny! Give the kid a break.
3rd season in...is no longer a "kid". He is an AFL player and must be judged accordingly.
@@davidsmith4572 He's 21 mate, he's still a kid. To be so fast to jump on him and criticise a couple of his games because they haven't lived up to the performance level of ONE SEASON, his 2023 season, his 2nd season is simply way over the top and reeks of targeted agenda driven criticism. This type of criticism is typically reserved for top players that have been in the system for much longer and have a much deeper history of high performance like the Bont, Dusty, Heeney, Cripps or Neale etc.
@@SuedeBoy69 You seen how old chad warner is? How old Gulden is? Sheezle had a better first year than daicos, nowhere near the hype was given to him. Only daicos fans get to use the age card for a defense lol He gets glazed by every single media outlet, the moment one points out his lack of impact for a game because of his horrid kicking. His fanbase attacks them like a cult
@@Tosicc567 He's had a couple of games where he might not get three brownlow votes, this doesn't warrant criticism. Like I said originally, already he is a victim of his previous high standards. I'm critical of the media who are just looking for sensationalism so people like us will bite.
@@SuedeBoy69You are not a kid at 21 years of age in this day of sport of elite level sport with far more young talent coming through than ever before.
2 of the top 4 from Sydney, who have there structures solid as a rock week to week. Collingwood is having to shuffle players left right and centre every week. So Nick is learning to adapt to a team that is forever changing. The data is showing that. If Collingwood make the finals from here it will have been a massive achievement given where they find themselves. Let’s not even consider the flag, it would be a bigger miracle than last year. So as a pies fan, best to enjoy watching the master and apprentice as long as it lasts. Nick will be great to watch for many years. It’s a team sport and The Woods future is bright, need to find some big free agents to thicken the soup in next 2 years. That’s reality.
Daicos wouldn’t be half as good if he wasn’t the Umpires Pet.
data's Daniel /???what a crock of sht .Got a good job with these crap
stats
Daniel Hoyne looks like Frankie Boyle on chemotherapy
Hoine doesn't like Nick
What a ridiculous comment
You have the 2 biggest North haters, they were never gonna think of Sheezell. That’s why bias opinions are never rated…
Lets all assess Bombers and what they're doing when they actually play against some tough opposition
They've played Giants in a lull, Pies ravaged by injury
Carlton will beat em, so will suns this week
The Pies weren't ravaged by injury in R7. Of the players that are currently on their injury list, they still had DeGeoy, Cox, Elliot, Mihocek, Howe, Hoskin-Elliott and Mitchell line up for them on ANZAC Day. It was a strong Collingwood team that the Bombers played that day. Every side has injuries. Bombers currently have a bunch out of their best 22. Parish, Draper, Duursma, Setterfield and Hobbs all best 22 players and Jordan Ridley only just came back for his first game of the year on the weekend. Injuries aren't an excuse.
@@InFiiLtRaTor essendon are the weakest 2nd placed on ladder team in recent years. They wont stay there

I'm an Essendon supporter. Clearly not a contender. Better than last year though.
It’s okay to say you hate the pies Hoyne. We just hate the fence sitting.
ah yes data and statistics hate the pies.... He also said he thinks he's tracking to be one of the best players idk how you see that as hating the pies
🧂
It's OK to admit Nick isn't close to being the best player in the competition. Last year, he was just "ok" as well. He spent the first half of the year padding his stats by kicking out from full back! You didn't see Errol or The Bont doing that did you.
I reckon if you subtracted Nick Daicos’ wrap around 1-2 passes his stats would be less impressive. I reckon he gets a lot of cheap ones.
Hoyney saying Daicos is the second best player he’s seen behind Ablett just shows what a clueless muppet he is. Daicos is nowhere near the likes of Judd, Simon Black, Michael Voss, Ben Cousins, Jimmy Bartel? I could keep going. Laughable
I hate Daniel Hoyne!
