We looked at Brooklyn and the mattress we needed was $1200.00! OUCH...and that was on sale. We have a RV King. We ended up finding a local "Mom and Pop" company who have been making beds for 40 years in Phoenix. Got a new mattress for $500.00. It is not an individual coil type but does have a 10 years warranty. I haven't had a chance to use it yet but my figures are crossed. It HAS to be better than the OEM! Great video!
Thanks Michael! Whatever works for you, of course. Brooklyn Mattress isn't inexpensive, that's for sure, but the difference in construction between a coil mattress and a gel mattress helps to explain that price differential.
Just so everyone understands about RV Mattress. Their 30 day in-home guarantee means you HAVE to use their mattress for 30 days before they will accept a return. We ordered the medium firmness just like in this video. For us it was incredibly HARD. My husband is disabled so it is paramount to get something else with his pain level. RV Mattress refuses to allow us to return this mattress. We full time so we do not have room for 2 mattresses so we have to use this thing for 30 days until we can get our $1000 back. Not trying to bash the company but want people to understand what they're getting into before they place their order. If we had known this we would have never bought from this company.
I couldn't remember, I had to look it up, but we have a Brooklyn mattress. A different one than yours but it still good. We looked at many different options and read many reviews. I am glad we went with Brooklyn. It is very comfortable.
That looks like a great upgrade! I suspect that when the viewers see your 6’ 5” frame standing on that mattress, they’ll wonder where you found an RV with 9’ ceilings…. That room is ENORMOUS ;-)
Thanks for the info.. I just changed from factory king to aftermarket queen .. Alows me room to get off bed on either side after cutting down platform..
We can only speak for our experience with Brooklyn Bedding (rvmattress.com), but from choosing our options to manufacture to shipping to sleeping, our experience was truly exceptional.
Fortunately, the mattress that came with our trailer is good - too good! We sleep like a couple of logs in it. Crater Lake is a pretty cool place. Looking forward to your next video. Thanks Marc. Ram 👍🏼👍🏽
Consider yourselves fortunate! So were we, actually -- when Brooklyn Bedding approached us we cautioned them that we actually were pretty happy with ours. However, we didn't know what we were missing. Our ignorance was bliss.
Your right our rv mattress is crap, we put a 2 foam toppers on it , helped some but still not great, might look onto one of these, thanks for the video, travel safe
Great show. Been following your episodes for a little while now as a couple looking to join the rv life as we enter retirement. Was a little suprised to see all 5th wheels boondocking. I would have thought a travel trailer would be the primary boondocking rv. I guess it's an advantage to not have the hitch down low.
Thanks Greg, and here's to you joining the lifestyle! Honestly length matters far more than hitch type for getting into boondocking spots. We've owned both, and if anything it's a bit easier to turn a fiver.
Any chance we can get a link to the bed lift shocks you purchased? I need stronger ones for mine also. You made that look pretty easy and I hope you get to try it out for say 10 years. 👍🏻
You bet Robert, we got these: amzn.to/3IO8iWL Two things you'll want to check on your old ones: their length, and lid weight rating. Ours were 20" and 80 lb, so we basically doubled the strength with these new 150 lb struts, but with the same length these were exact replacement drop-ins. That upgrade process would've been incredibly simple, were in not for the fact that the hinge on our bed platform couldn't handle the extra stress and promptly pulled out of the plywood. The manufacturer had used only tiny screws, and inserted in only every third hole of the hinge. Beefier screws inserted in every hole of the hinge promptly solved that problem.
We bought the SIGNATURE HYBRID for our GD 2500RL. It’s a awesome mattress and perfect height for the GD it doesn’t cover the shelves/cubbyholes. My wife has a bad back so we got the firm and we sleep awesome! I did a review on google if anyone has a GD 2500RL and would like to see how it looks inside. I don’t think there’s a better mattress out there and it’s made in America 🇺🇸 you can’t go wrong.
I knew something wasn't right when I got on the Brooklyn website because if I didn't give them my email and agreed to receive advertisements I would not be allowed to see prices. Thats BS, no thanks!
That's good feedback. However, I'm not able to replicate that ourselves. I just clicked through to rvmattress.com/grandadventure and was able to quickly find pricing without signing up for anything?
Boy am i good LOL...Called that Crater Lake stop bout a week ago....Dont know if your already there yet or not as of this video but a really nice place to stay is Joseph H. Stewart Recreational area to explore that area....Travel safe, be well....
Yes you are! Thanks for the tip, and same to you! We boondocked at the Diamond Lake Recreation Area, which we'll feature in next week's episode. Enjoy the area!

@@akgobears I'll quell the suspense for you on that one. I had to make a decision: Hood or Rainier, as I didn't have time for both. I've skied Hood before in summer, so I opted for Rainier.
Great information, Marc. This is definitely the way to go for a mattress replacement. Amazing that they can squash down that much spring and plush into a quarter of it's inflated volume. Special equipment needed for sure. No amount of suckers 😙 can do that on their own. Release the SUCKERS... Gord
@@GrandAdventure I think they must physically compress the mattress at the same time they pucker and seal it. Once flattened, they can roll it up and stretch wrap the bundle. Gord
Sure, Joe! We bought these: amzn.to/43PoZLi However, it's important to calculate the weight of your platform/mattress to ensure that you're buying the right strut. Too weak and they won't provide the proper lift. Too strong and it'll be tough to close or keep closed.
Hi, Marc! We met you in Port Aransas and enjoy your channel! We're wanting to know what you think of your Brooklyn mattress now that it's been a few months. Pet Zoe for us!
Hey Barbara! Great to hear from you again. Honestly, we love that mattress. We are big fans of the company's product and customer service. It has held up well over the first year of ownership, and we can't get over the improvement over the OEM mattress that came in the RV. We sleep like babies.
Brooklyn Bedding is an excellent business partner with a truly quality product, and one whose support of Grand Adventure allows us to embark upon 7 full months of travel to film and present to our viewers, as we're heading out this week to do. We appreciate them immensely, and we are proud to have them with us. Without valued partners like Brooklyn Bedding, Grand Adventure could not exist.
