We replaced our mattress with a Zinus hybrid mattress shortly after buying our 5th wheel. We put hyper vent underneath our mattress to prevent moisture and mold. RV life isn’t fun if you aren’t comfortable.

Replaced my original mattress with a 6-inch Zinus foam full-queen. Since the original was new, still plastic-wrapped, I donated it to the camp ground where I knew that it would be used in their cabins. Do you think that my Murphy bed needs the moisture barrier? My bed folds 90° with no cut to aid it.
I'm not sure you would need a vapor barrier. The barrier protects the mattress when it is in a position where the top of the mattress is in a conditioned situation (inside your climate controlled RV) and the bottom of your mattress is positioned at an unconditioned section of the RV like exterior storage. That combination can create dampness or moisture under your mattress. Your mattress folds down on to your sofa and gets sufficient conditioned airflow. I hope this helps explain. Very helpful information, especially about moisture barrier underneath the mattress, I would never have thought of that. Also: I learned at their web site that that all of their foams are CertiPUR-US® certified. That is something I look for as outgassing from mattresses sometimes triggers my asthma. Was there a fee for dumping your old mattress at the landfill?
Outgassing is SUCH an issue for many of us. I can't even tour new RVs. When we recently dumped an old mattress there was a small fee. Your city's trash department might be able to refer you.

Hi Denise, Great question! Some RVs have a corner of the bad cut off to create more walking space. The corner cut can be straight or rounded. So, if your RV is designed this way then yes - you would need a corner cut mattress. Hope that makes sense! Thanks, Mike

The extreme cold snap in Texas seriously affected chemical companies that supply raw materials for the majority of foam for mattress and furniture companies all over the world. I've been waiting for foam for over a month from another vendor. It's also causing delays in building RV's.
