This is the "Definitive Downtown Indy Canal Walk Video Tour" 1080P HD 60fps 3-axis gimbal (Indianapolis, Indiana)
    Part 1
I chose a very sunny day to shoot this video. I used a GoPro Hero4 Black, set to 1080P, 60fps, stabilized with a Zhiyun Z1-Rider2 3-axis universally mountable gimbal. I used a motorcycle helmet (instead of just a regular cycling helmet) as a platform for added stability, due to the weight of the camera/gimbal system.
I purposely pedaled my TREK 7500 bicycle relatively slowly, for best safety and clearness of video.

Oh Wow! I grew up in Indy...lived there 27 years...moved to Atlanta in '79. The many times I've come back to visit relatives...be at high school class reunions, and even the few "Indy 500's", I've been amazed how much change there has been. The downtown area sure is inviting. And the Canal area...incredible! This is a good view of it. I liked the "ride along"...very smooth.

‼️ WOW ‼️ what other city has this? Simply beautiful! I grew up in Indianapolis, I live in Alabama now. But Indianapolis holds a lot of memories for me, some good and some not so good, but I love the city. But I didn't know Indianapolis had anything like that, I'm impressed!

Did you use any stabilization software in post-production? It looks great!

+k.c. Ferrill Thanks! No, nothing post-production. The only stabilization in play is what the gimbal physically provided.
The gimbal can be "locked" into a particular heading, so my technique was to get lined up with the path, then "lock it in" straight ahead. Then with a press of the button on the handheld controller, I would unlock it only during the turns (and allow it to smoothly follow wherever my heard pointed). Then I would quickly get nicely lined up for the next long straight section, and immediately lock in the heading again.
I think using that technique the whole time helped make the video look extra stable.

A canal in the city? Is it part of the White River? Any flooding issues?
It looks so clean! Hope you guys can keep it that way.
If you come over to NYC and walk along the East River or the Gowanus Canal it looks like a cesspool!

Hi! No, flooding isn't an issue. I think the canal seems to sit well above the very nearby White River, and so any excess canal water can readily drain down into the river's water table through drainage systems that are in place. The original canal was supposed to extend 296 miles through Indiana but only eight miles were fully completed, -all in/near Indianapolis. They stopped construction is 1839, so it''s been here a good while. In the last few decades they decided to beautify and rebuild a stretch of it in the heart of Indianapolis. For aesthetics, they built the redone canal section to appear to connect to White River. But White River is significantly lower in reality. I don't know how the original/unmodified canal section compared to the river height. Thanks for watching!
