BIG Fall Brown Trout! Streamer Fishing After a Rain

- Fall is upon us and I'm glad that the waters are finally starting to cool down with some rain and cool nights. This is one of the most exciting times of the year to me because it starts the 9-10 month streak of cold water and all the waters in PA become fishable around this time of year. I kicked off a rainy day by fishing streamers on one of my favorite streamer streams. Ended up catching a decent amount of fish, one nice 19-20" female brown and had probably the most strikes from little fish on streamers I've ever had. All in all; a great day of fly fishing!

@@Brownsylvania No problem. My schedule has been busy every day and night during the week. Just trying to stay afloat. Next week it eases up during day some and I can work, but still get some editing done and get back to one video a week.

During high water conditions, the big ones come out from their hiding places to play. Also, trout migrate during high water conditions - to look for feeding stations and areas for spawning. Great video.

Great action and nice fish, gotta love the streamers in higher dirty water. Cool video! Shame about the short takes, one thing I hate about streamers, the short takes. I seem to catch about one third of my streamer hits. The big hits haunt me, Augh! Nice job 👍🏻

Yeah, that's about what my ratio is too. I usually don't miss many big fish takes because they normally engulf the whole streamer. I like using smaller streamers just to increase the hook up odds. Also when streamer fishing it can be good to catch some smaller fish here and there to boost your morale because it can become a grind. haha

Ive found that the swollen stained water will pull those bigger fish out of their hiding spots and give you the opportunity to find them out roaming the stream and catch them in some of the more obvious pockets and runs

Do you mention what stream you fish?
Can you give a little detail on the technique you're using when streaming? I'm a beginner fly fisher and I am trying to learn technique as well.
Yeah, I've been trying to explain more technique in my newer videos. I haven't fished streamers in a while though, but once I start again I'll try and explain more. Thanks for watching!
Are you tight lining? How do you fish streamers?
This is a tight line setup, but I do some drifting, stripping, jigging, etc. just with a mono rig instead of fly line.
I do not mention any streams unless they are well known anyway.
What fly line are you using ?

I find it odd that you move your hand so far up the rod to fight it sometimes
haha That's funny you point that out because I actually have noticed this myself and it actually hurts sometimes because of the little metal piece there for hooking your fly on to. I think I do it to make the rod a bit shorter so it's easier to net fish? Idk to be honest. 😂

Good way to snap a rod, even on a small fish. Completely changes the physics of the way the rod was mean to bare the weight
