(As an Amazon, Temu & Jackson's Art Associate, I earn a small amount from my purchases, which doesn't affect the price for you. I'm very grateful when you purchase anything via my links, thank you!
I love the channel. No distractions. Just your clear, calm, relaxing, enthusiastic narration and your art. Lovely. Thank you so much for this video, and all the others.
Yes! She presents so beautifully and is so focused on the purpose at hand. LOVE THIS CHANNEL!!!!
Gosh, thank you ever so much, both of you, for the kind words!
I need to have my husband read this because I don't think he believes I can be calm or focused in the least!
The Caran D’Ache water brushes are hands down my favorite water brushes for ONE big reason: you can use the plunger to suck water from your water bottle when you’re out painting plein air! You cannot do that with any other brush except the Faber Castell. (Which I also use regularly!) And of course they are good quality brush tips:)
I'm so glad to hear I didn't just get them because I was too daft to realise I can get water easily out of any waterbrush 😂
Another enjoyable video. Looking forward to your oil pastel video. I really like the Sennelier range. Thank you!
Thank you so much!
lovely haul! I've had my eye on that faber castell white brush pen and now I'm really tempted 😍
Not the full set?!
A woman with many talents ~ I love your haul! The greens are beautiful ~
Well, I think more accurately, a woman addicted to art materials!
@@helencryer lol!
I loved watching you unbox the different products as well as play with each of them. Looks so fun! Keep it up.
Thank you so much!
Oil pastels are one of my favourite mediums and Sennelier are the best by a mile. Glorious lipstick texture. Watch how your store them though as they get very mushy in this warm weather and they almost melt in your hands!
Thank you for the advice! I hadn't considered the air temp! (Though in Cornwall we're cooler than average in the summer, and warmer than average in the winter!)
I love my Paul Rubens oil pastels! I have two sets of 48, but when I finish all those up I think it’s time for an upgrade
Also I love how sticky the Paul Rubens are! But I use them a lot differently than you think
Ooo - how do you use them??
I'm finding in both the Paul Rubens and Sennelier that there are some colours I enjoy using and some less so - they both have varying consistencies.
@@helencryer I don’t really blend them and kind of just let the texture do it’s thing!
@@helencryer here’s an example ruclips.net/video/14phsniVpIE/видео.html
Haha, I love your comment about the ink tense blocks! Can’t just get one 😂
😬 Apparently not... (Late night eBay purchases of bargain 36 sets may have been made...)
Such fun orders with so many different things!! The Sennelier oil pastels look lovely and creamy… they *almost* tempt me enough to give oil pastels a try eventually.
I’ve been wanting to try those Caran d’ache water brushes!! Everyone who uses/reviews them says the button makes them so much better. I am not a water brush fan at all and I keep thinking they might be the type that finally brings me around. I think they would be so handy if I found a brand that I like. Admittedly, all but one of my waterbrushes came free, so they probably aren’t the best. However, I don’t even like the one that I actually paid for.
Also… not a fan of the white gelly roll pens, I find they get clogged / don’t work well for me. Although some people have a lot of luck with them, I must use them differently. I like the Pitt white brush pen for some highlights and I also like the uni signo white pens.
I've never been a huge fan of waterbrushes, but it would be so convenient not to have to mess with water sometimes. I think I won't mind taking out a Caran D'Ache one along with a little sketch book, because then I'm not going to bring doing big washes anyway.
I've tried the Uni Signo pens a few times now, and they're lovely when they're working! Mine never seem very reliable though, and don't last long whether I've used them much or not.
@@helencryer the white pens are really hit or miss, I’ve mostly switched to having a bit of white gouache (dried in a pan) or a white pastel pencil.
Copic did a good opaque white paint, but it was expensive and dried up too fast. I have some Titanium white pigment, and am getting some Brush & Pencil Coloured Pencil Touch up Texture, to mix with it to make my own white paint.
Lovely pastels! I can't believe you put a Roman Szmal in with Rosa G! Haha! Most people would freak out if they saw the jumbled mess my paints are in right now. They won't stay that way, just working on a big project. -Just thought I'd be silly and give you a bit of a hard time. I may need to try those water brushes. Thanks for sharing! ♥
Hahaha! Love it!
Great haul! Thank you for sharing! I’m intrigued with the Sennelier oil pastels. I want to try oil pastels but don’t like the sticky or messy art supplies 😅.
They are definitely that, I'm afraid! (Well how I use them anyway!) How about with some surgical gloves?!
That's what I was thinking but worry that I wouldn't be completely aware of where the rest of my hand was, spoiling the art I was trying to make. 😮
I can't wait for the oil pastel video! They look so nice to work with. I love caran dache water brushes, I use them mostly with neocolors2 and such.
Glad to hear you like them!
I worked on the video today, but not sure I did justice to the oil pastels yet.
Hi there ! I find gelly roll no 10 works much better than the size 8, my number 8 always skipped but once I tried no 10 it always works 😊
Thank you for letting me know!!
I had the same experience re the greens. I am going to buy individual greens to supplement my sets.
I have ended up buying some more individual greens - not yet opened them though!
Sennelier has many transparent colors..... don't know if you're gonna enjoy them.. but their white is, handsdown, the best white for final hightlights! But talking about greens, get the Neopastels, all their greens work perfect. Smooth, opaque, no gumminess, blend and layer amazinly! Also, the textures are the same throught all the colors! Awesome oil pastels.
Someone else said how the transparent ones are really good for mixing, so I'll get playing around with them. Thanks for your recommendation! I actually have an olive green neopastel in my online shopping basket at the moment!
@@helencryer the Neopastels are amazing. You won't regret and keep in mind when you have it, that all pastels from that line feels and behave exactly the same!
That's great to know, thanks!
I shall now stop feeling guilty when a Jackson's box arrives and I can't recall what's going to be in it. 😇
I add things gradually to my basket, and then it's a nice surprise!
Wow - how the Ultramarine pushes away the yellows.... I always thought the yellows were the 'bullies'... I guess it depends on the binder and the pigment.
It's so much fun playing with paint, and learning their different personalities!!
I can recommend derwent inktense blocks because I have a tin of 24 , had them almost 1 year now . I don’t have the inktense pencils but I also have the derwent inktense paints (24 pan set) as well.
Nooo! There need to be some art products that I don't want to get!!
@@helencryer I follow Annie claxton ( arty farty Annie ) here on RUclips and she won the full set of those oil pastels you have just purchased. Annie gives some good suggestions on how to use them and what spray to use to fix them .
LOL 😆 I get it, I really do…but you really DO wanna draw that line under these sticks. You get a lotta bang for your buck with those sticks. My gateway was the 24 set, but Cult pens had a ridiculously silly by 2 get 3 sale a bit ago and I flushed out my collections of lightfast and inktense pencils & blocks. 😎
@@KerryAA7130 Thanks ever so much! I will definitely take a look!
@@templemoore3799 Soooo..... I'm blaming it all on you, but a certain bargain 36 set ended up being bought last night on eBay!!!
I have cheaper set of brush pens and they all allow me to squeeze water out by just applying pressure to the tube. Loved the fern green by Inktense, surprise eh? 😂 I have some of those fine Posca pens in my basket. 😊 I have a black one of that FC Pitt pen for calligraphy and it's lovely to write with. I'm looking forward to seeing your Sennelier oil pastel swatchathon. ❤
Yeah, I was being a bit slow with the waterbrushes 🤣
I was surprised how much I liked using the Inktense block!!
Haha - guess what I'll be swatching today?!
Sennelier makes Jackson’s watercolors, so you got the Sennelier lemon yellow.
Jackson's are made by Sennelier, but they aren't necessarily the same as Sennelier's paint. Kimberly Crick talks more about the differences here:
ruclips.net/video/tAxlr43EQpI/видео.html
25:50 nice sketch of your palette 😊
Thanks!
By the way, that Naples Yellowish Red I saw on your palette... what brand is it?
I have the Naples Yellow Red from Van Gogh, but I haven't been able to find it on a different brand.
It's Schmincke Horadam. It's called Naples Yellow Reddish though - I wrote it the wrong way round in my palette! I think Roman Szmal do one too.
@@helencryer thx a lot! 🥰
How cool. Just said that to... Still watching. 😅
It's a bit of a random one, I'm afraid!
I totally agree with @niafer9444 comment, your calm, sincere, unpretentious narration, is so refreshing. Love your art and your discoveries. Thank you so much for all the effort and work you put in it. lovely. SSH
That is ever so kind of you - thank you!!
