I always enjoy your art hauls😊 The Rosa Gallery Jade Green, Azure Green, Maroon Brown and Violet Black are lovely😍 I also treated myself to Mary Feddens book after after watching Sandi Hesters review. The Fairfield Porter book has been on my wishlist since then too, so it's great to see another artists review confirming that I do need it in my life🙏🏼
Getting new supplies is such a nice feeling.. Also I love the idea of getting books at the same time! It could be super inspiring to try out the new supplies while using techniques or references from the books.. I've been trying to get better at landscapes and studies, but so far I've been doing mostly digital work, but I'm considering doing more traditional again, so maybe I'll try :) love all the colors you chose!
I think books are lovely to browse when you're feeling a bit lacking in inspiration! I don't know how to do digital art - I might be tempted one day, but just love art materials too much at the moment!
Ahhh Helen, your videos never disappoint! Such gorgeous, yummy supplies! I actually took down notes for the Rosa Gallery granulating watercolors and mixed them on my own. I can't get them just yet so I appreciate you sharing the pigment info as you swatched them out. My version didn't get as much granulation, but I knew that would happen. You really are a treasure to watch! Best regards... Laura!
Finally got around to watching this! Lovely video. I didn't realise you could buy sample of the pencils and inktense blocks too! I bought a few of the Rosa Gallery granulating paints and I have to say the golden brown and cobalt grey have been fantastic - I'm not sure what I even did before I had them!!!!!
Loving the Rosa Gallery paints, and not expensive for a newbie to try out,it’s going to be a long Christmas list this year!😂.Thanks for another relaxing swatching vid, love them x
Just ordered them , so glad you shared them , when mine arrives they are being put away for my birthday at the end of next month . Really looking forward to them , I’m adding them to one of my older Rosa gallery paint sets I got for my wedding anniversary back in July . Rosa gallery paints are amazing for the price. Thankyou again Helen for sharing, very much appreciated.
I bought them from your website that you used to purchase yours , they have an enormous choice of art goodies at good prices, I was pretty impressed. Those Rosa gallery new paints after I purchased my lot they are almost sold out now with some of the colours. I now have another online art shop to purchase from , far too much choice 😊.
Hi Helen, How did you get the pencil samples? Nice Haul. Here in the US at Blick the Derwent Charcoal old set and other sets are on sale for 50% off. I bought the Charcoal old, new Graphitint and the Derwent Intense blocks(6 set only). I am very pleased with my purchases the graphitint granulates beautifully but the Derwent intense blocks are so hard to dissolve! Maria
I could just order the samples online from Ken Bromley Art Supplies in the UK. That's a great deal! I'm surprised to hear that about the Inktense blocks though, as the one I tried re-wet really readily.
Thanks for your encouragement! All I really know is that I felt a strong pull especially to the Fairfield Porter book. I'd love some of the Maimeri Blu tubes now, but can't justify them!!
Thankyou for introducing me to Fairfield Porter Helen - may have to invest in the book - and probably some of those gorgeous granulating watercolours!😊
I bought all the Rosa granulating colours as soon as I could find them. I find that four of them only have gentle granulation, but the other four are amazing. They’re all beautiful though so I’m happy I have them. I’m looking forward to the Derwent XL blocks. I have the old set of the Graphitint ones and I’m trying to decide if I need the two new ones 😂
Loved your haul..I love Derwent Graphitint. I use the pans and pencils. Inktense pencils are my favorite. I can’t get the new colors in the US:(. I look forwsrd to your thoughts on ith oil pastel fixative. Thank you for a fun unpacking Paul Clark recommended Faber Castell soft pastel pencils and I love them. I also use Stabilo pastel pencils. They are easy to sharpen.
Really enjoy watching your videos when you test new art supplies. What is the second art store you mentioned? I didn't quite catch the name of it I love hose soft pastel pencils from Carand'ache , they're lovely to work with
I knew you’d like the greens in the neopastels and Holbein for the oil pastels. (Though I doubt I was the only one to suggest them). The color and texture for the greens are the best ones I’ve found so far, not as soft a sennelier but softer isn’t always what’s needed. I may also have to pick up that granulating green from rosa gallery now! It’s gorgeous! And thanks for sharing your art books and thoughts on them. Hope you have a great day! 😊
These XL blocks from Derwent are great. Didn't know they have these new colors 😍 Where did you buy those single Rosa Gallery watercolor pans? These granulating colors are so stunning beautiful 🤩
While I was on my vacation in September I visited an art store and wanted to buy some art supplies that I don’t have but am curious about and I endet up buying some Caran d‘ache Neocolor II‘s from the free stock. The colours I chose are in the same range as the Neopastels that you showed in this haul. 😂 As always a very nice haul video! Thanks!
Hahaha, sure you weren’t planning on ordering new fun supplies, they just hopped in your cart, didn’t they? 😂 Love seeing the variety of items you include in your orders, so often, there’s a little bit of everything! I like Masters brush cleaner, but I also really like the bar of Escoda brush cleaner. I find I need to clean my brushes a lot more after a big gouache painting session. Watercolour seems to be so much cleaner/easier on your brushes. I love MaimerBlu watercolour tubes. My local art store carries them, so they were one of my first brands and I have quite a good collection at this point. I do prefer the tubes over their half pans, I find some of the half pans that came in my set were quite hard to rewet at first, but they did improve as I used them. I’m not a fan of Maimeri gouache though, I have found major separation issues in almost every tube I’ve opened. Once you stir it up, it seems okay-ish, but I’ve come to prefer other brands. My local shop also carries Rosa Gallery, so I hope they get the new colours!! Gorgeous books… enjoy!!
Other than a perpetual book wish list, I honestly wasn't!! I'd quite like some of the Maimeri Blu tubes now, because they were a joy to swatch! And the Rosa Gallery ones are brill! I've not been tempted by more gouache. I love it when I use it, but am happy sticking with my W&N.
@@helencryer I’d probably use W&N gouache and not look further if that brand was easily accessible (and reasonably priced) here, I have some and really like it. That’s pretty good if you’ve gotten your wish list reduced to only books!
I just had a look on the website again, and it's saying some of the samples are free if you order other paid for items. Just look under Samples and Dot in their search bar.
Great art haul video!! Sadly, Rosa Gallery paints on Amazon Canada are expensive, and only come in sets. 😢 Those books are wonderful, & I've put them on my wishlist. Are you familiar with the painter Milton Avery? I think you'd love his work.
Oh my gosh, that question's sent me into a spin!! Just one?! How can I pick - I need lots! Watercolour, coloured pencils, oil pastels, gouache, perhaps in that order...
What a lovely lot of unwrapping! Such a pleasure to watch too. ☺️ I have a few caran d’ache pastel pencils but I think I prefer the Pitt pastels - that said I don’t use either all that much, at the moment being all consumed with water colour. Having bought a few more Roman Szmal paints recently I had decided that I was not buying anything else until my next pay comes in. Then, I went into town for a concert yesterday and was literally passing an independent art shop that’s been there for years. I felt it was only right to shop local and popped in - and they do Rosa Gallery! And in tubes too…so, once again I broke my own rules😖😳😀. Your books look lovely too, perfect for the darker nights that are approaching - enjoy and that’s for sharing.
Always fun to watch. The books & pamphlets aren’t my cup of tea. Jane Askey at a push but the others lean too much towards I don’t know how to phrase what I saw! Colour blobs isn’t correct. Such a range I guess they push my boundaries. But, on unpacking your goodies I thought : Is art now what our play was earlier? Adult play=arts & crafts? You sound a lot brighter which is good. Thanks
It's funny how we can't really choose what we like, though I guess our tastes can change over time. Art is definitely play for me, but I think I know what you mean. Though if we had to come up with their work, it's definitely harder than it looks! I'm starting to feel better, thank you! Had a very stressful couple of months.
@@helencryer I realise that I couldn’t replicate any of the works I’ve been introduced to by your videos, but, I enjoy the variety of art works. Yes - pretty amazing watercolours, especially for the price!
I'm afraid the Fairfield Porter really is a wonderful book, if you like that style!
Love your art haul videos, love seeing all the little things you get and how you show how they work. Keep it up!
Thank you! The problem is, I love them too!
All the colors are so deep & gorgeous ❗️. Those painters books were beautiful too. Thank you❣️

Ken Bromley is the only online place I know of that does them.
The paints are totally gorgeous!
I've never heard of Rosa Gallery before, but those granulating paints are lovely!
Yes, I'm really really pleased with them!
Wow…lots of fun stuff-those maimeri watercolors were just beautiful-really nice granulating ones too!

That blue neocolor was so lovely you had to swatch it twice 😊❤ Thanks for a great video!!

David Mankin’s paintings are very artistic and inspiring.
I think they're so interesting!

Love seeing the oil pastel paper - so cool they do the wax paper between

Really enjoy watching your videos. I was wondering if you have tried using foam pipe installation for blending pastels?
SusanJenkins at Monet Cafe said those packing peanuts are great.
Thanks! I haven't, but I'm super happy now with the rigid foam I found in my Stampin' Up stamping blocks case!
