It doesnt get any better than this first band to ever upload studio footage of them recording a new album. you guys are plain awesome no one can touch sevendust
What probably impressed me the most, is he actually performs the WHOLE song completely without failure. Most drummers record's bits and pieces here and there and put it all together and make it a song. But if you play all of it like this, you'll get your personal feeling in it. Love it! Morgan Rose is beast!
Fu*king incredibly cool!!! Being able to watch the recording process with 7D for the new disc is just amazing. Love the drum tracks and listening to this just further cements in my mind that Morgan Rose is one of the very best in the business.
Really nice groove all throughout- I really like the cymbal work at 3:08 , Its been really awesome to watch morgan throughout his career. He was one of my earliest and first Influences On the drums for me, Theres nobody like him and I can tell when hes playing. I think its cool that technology has allowed us to be this close to the band and interactive. Much love Sevendust from the 518 NY!
All I can say is that this is what being a professional is all about.Anyone who thinks that they know what drumming is should watch this and learn from this.Morgan knows what drumming is supposed to be about; not overwhelming double bass and blast beats(God save us from whoever invented the blast beats.)This is tasteful. Drumming is first and foremost about keeping time, but secondly,it's about style and this man is oozing with it. You can have your Joey Jordison garbage.I'll take Morgan Rose.
got to meet them both. warped tour '99. looks like they're both doing fanphukntastic! black eyed peas, eminem, ice t... best year of the tour. all these guys are still kickin ass.
The fill leading into :24 Is awesome Morgan! I really like the Hi Hat groove in the verses! Im a Big Gadd fan and this really reminds me of his style, Your a oneofa kind alien freak Morgan!! Peace!
Small timing error at about 1:20, but easily pro tools fixable. You can see him grimace a bit here as he notices the mistake, but he did an amazing job on this take. Anyone that's ever tracked in a studio can tell you that it's virtually impossible to get an entire song perfect in a single take. Morgan epitomizes the consummate professional drummer!!! So amazing.
i enjoy videos like that. thanks to the "camera-man". it's so annoying if the view changes every 5 seconds and you can't really see what's going on. this is perfect:)
@MrJoeyDark My thoughts exactly! Look how many shows the Dust have played since the beginning, Even still Travis can rock too but these guys have been through it all! Peace
Lol, I got a little carried away for my man Morgan. You're right. I shouldn't have called out Joey. He's a very respectable drummer. I actually like several Slipknot songs too.
@lismore21 Oh man I definitely think he is awesome too. I'm just not well versed with all of Tool's music. I know the drumming in Vicarious and the Pot is great though. Very good stuff. Prison Sex was an awesome song too, lol.
I'm not familiar with this beat so I'm thinkin they got a new one already since I've been gone for a while...I kinda lost track on 'em. which song did this got laid out?
morgan rose is one of my favorite drummers for sure but you can dis joey jordinson hes excellent at what he does and is not all blast beats you should here his own music besides slipknot and murder dolls its excellent and is not heavy drumming
Not to argue your point. But there is actually a video here on youtube, where morgan admits he took advantage of modern day recording, but punching in certain places where he messed up. I work in a recording studio myself, and I rarely keep single take of any instrument playing all the way through. Although, certain bits and pieces of those takes do stand out as better pieces.
@lismore21 Yes he is. Except for the blast beats. :) It's just my opinion, but I hate em. Neil Peart is probably the most tasteful rock drummer ever. I just can't do much Rush. Portnoy is also a genius, but Dream Theater kills my ears. I like him with A7X on Nightmare though. Very good stuff. Gotta say I miss the Rev Sullivan though.
I hear what youre saying, but that fast speed drumming is a whole other style, look at tim yeung who is now in divine heresy, sure he does blast beats, it might sound like joey jordison but I assure you, he SHITS on jordison. and yes I know your comment is 2 years old lol
@slashofdeath Yeah, I didn't really mean to call Jordison's drumming garbage. He has talent. I just CANNOT STAND BLAST BEATS! Lol, personal opinion. Music is totally subjective.
This is one of the most grooviest thing I've ever heard! Morgan is the groove itself!
It doesnt get any better than this first band to ever upload studio footage of them recording a new album. you guys are plain awesome no one can touch sevendust

Morgan Rose is beast!
I just like watching Morgan play. He has a style and a.......something........ that no one else in the world has.
Agreed. Morgan is one of a king with his grooves and beats. I just wish him and the rest of the guys got more love. They truly are top notch.
Yes I concur
Awesome! It's weird how good drums can sound by themselves. It's gonna be even better with the vocals and guitars!
the back beat is so powerful. i love his style
That quiet groove at 0:24 & 1:25 is so damn nice...
...and the massive breakdown at 2:32 is a beast...
...can't wait for this record!
That room sounds absolutely fucking gorgeous.
Powerhouse playing as always! Deep pocket!
Fu*king incredibly cool!!!

My idol!!
Solid; heavy; EPIC drummer! Morgan crushes!

yes it is amazing
the product of which has now turned into the song, "Unraveling" for their new album, which is up now also on youtube.
Plays with pure passion
They seem to use it as a bedroom, but since it is a kinda huge place (just listen) it doesn't really matter.
Drums sound kickass!
This sounds goooooooood...
got to meet them both. warped tour '99.
looks like they're both doing fanphukntastic!
black eyed peas, eminem, ice t...
best year of the tour.

@ragzy02 i agree with all that, but i noticed u didnt mention anything about Danny Carey? lol
@ragzy02 lol definitely, im a huge Carey fan, u should really study him more, its really helped my drumming as far as dynamics and stuff go

Who the fuck is Travis Barker!?!
I hear what youre saying, but that fast speed drumming is a whole other style, look at tim yeung who is now in divine heresy, sure he does blast beats, it might sound like joey jordison but I assure you, he SHITS on jordison. and yes I know your comment is 2 years old lol

this is the shit
3:09 - 3:14 .. what the fuck....
bet you couldnt do 1/4 of what barker could do.
there are more better drummers than him. he likes hard bashing
