  • Whats up everyone!
    In this video i show you how to install both Front and Rear Hydraulic bumpstops into your Jeep Wrangler JK.
    Front Bumpstops: lockedoffroad.com/2-0-x-2-0-bu...
    Rear Bumpstops: lockedoffroad.com/bump-stops-2...
    10% Off Discount Code: JKbumps
    TMR Customs Rear Bracket: www.tmrcustoms.com/jk-rear-hy...
    Adding a set of hydraulic bumpstops is a great way to upgrade your suspension. Alot of people say hydraulic bumpstops are only needed for people who want to go fast off road.. However i am a big fan of them for rockcrawling, trailriding, beach driving, high speed offroading, and even for overlanders who have a heavy Jeep that tends to bottom out easily.
    As you can tell, the front install is very straight forward! The rear does require cutting and welding, but in the end its a simple process that is worth it!
    Now, i know alot of people will ask me why i didnt choose the teraflex speed bumps for the rear since they do not require welding. I do not recommend those bumpstops, they are filled with foam (simply put). Over time, their performance will degrade, they do not operate as well as hydraulic bumps, and they offer no tuning capability. Speaking of tuning, hydraulic bumpstops can be adjusted by nitrogen pressure to fine tune the stiffness. The great thing about Locked Offroad is that they prefill their bumps, whereas other companies require you to find a shop that can fill with nitrogen (which can be tricky depending on where you live).
    I hope you enjoyed the video, and if you are planning to upgrade to some hydraulic bumpstops then i hope the discount code can help you out a bit!
    Stay tuned for some offroad shots of these bad boys in action!
    Like always, if you have any questions feel free to ask in the comments and ill do my best to help!

    Your timing is impeccable because I just recently did rear hydraulic bumpstops with Synergy mounts and my attitude towards DV8 has soured as well. They were like the new Smittybilt w/o the Shittybilt stigma. Customer Service was good & Cole was really active in the community but ever since the Drake Offroad acquisition everything just went downhill from there. I've been wanting to phase out the handful of DV8 products that I have on my Rig which includes their bumpstops. I was just online looking at other hydro bumpstops at the exact moment I got the notification for this video. I'll be sure to give locked offroad a look.

    by hving 4 of your bumbers on corners of roof rack combined wt loading limiting & bal the load until that is it maxed out limit is a good thing & when not loaded up & u roll it the four of them soften the hit & limit the crash of rack to four hard mont spots u beef up for the job. Cheaper & lighter than beefing up the whole roof.

    The bottom ends of the TMR's b4 the plastic round cone he should add gel pads like in shoes. U very the gel pads thickness on the margin to dial them in & add the cone cap on top of the gel pads. There is some crazy tech in foams & pads NOW. This is your wear prt, so his TMR prt lasts longer. U want the gel pads to take & deaden the hit & custom conform to your set up. U can see the conform denting & fine tune the gel pad thickness count. OK On this jeep current configuration w/these shocks we need 2" of gel pad but I may try 2.5" & see how it does. Again w/TMR's hving 4or 5 more " of travel thru stop pnt & the rubber type working 1st bulk of the time on the cheap.

    • @JKGearandGadgets
      @JKGearandGadgets  5 лет назад +1

      I’m not bagging on them, I just don’t like to support the brand. The bumpstops themselfs are nice, but as a fairly large youtuber I do not like recommending company’s that steal people designs

    • @jeepn0811
      @jeepn0811 5 лет назад

      Assuming he proved to you that they “stole “ his design? Kinda like everyone copied designs from companies like King? Not hart, love the videos just hope there was a little more than he said he said behind it that’s all.

    • @JKGearandGadgets
      @JKGearandGadgets  5 лет назад +1

      I talked to him for a good while, they replicated his design completely, just added their logos and a different travel length. DV8 is known to do that, they have all their products made in China and then sell them here. The only reason I stumbled upon locked was because I was looking for rear bumpstops, started talking with him and then figured might as well run his fronts.
      I’m not saying the DV8 bumpstops are bad, they have worked great. I’m just not a big fan of DV8 as a company. Over the past few months I’ve been talking to a lot of people who have been having big issues with DV8, so I would rather help support companies that I know will stand behind their products.

    If u r going to cut a key member short sides, or just 1 side but if long & top & bottom side of box u hve jack shit left. So normally like u said bracket replacement or put back at least what u took out. Hopefully thicker batch then cut out metal error-ing safe side. As for welds If pro then simple math,add up the lebgth out all the cuts & the welds if pro need to b 3 times as long as all the cuts again safe side can't break your arm wear it healed up correctly deal. 5" of cuts will need welds of 15" on a patch steel atleast as thick or better than what was taken out. U can't ask a prt to do something it was not engineered to do & cut & patch there too. Say non support pnt load cut patched & NOW carrying new load, nope not a chance. Your case same spot as b4 heavy hit spot of box frame not new spot on frame.

    four of those thing on mount pnts of roof rack would b worth it. U roll it or u load up the rack it will help carry that load floating it rather than denting roof & when u max out u can see it OK too much wt. As for ride it has to compete w/the cool tow rubber deflection bump stops that really do work, not just towing but to lessen impacts also. Tough ask for a slow hydraulic bump stock to compete w/ rubber stops, I mean u would hve to b a brain smarty to get it right sized normal travel vs extreme off roading. Not poss in ten pairs to beat those rubber bumpers not a chance & I want the safety tow load. Nope not poss not a remotely fair fight tech vs idiot proof tech. Even more so when rubber bumpers come in diff sizes.

    • @jamesmerkel9442
      @jamesmerkel9442 4 года назад

      Make your case but I am already sold on other tech. Only way for your way to win this fight is if my bumper was stone cold diff deflection drunk or broken/torn & u didn't notice it bc no fluid to see problem

    • @jamesmerkel9442
      @jamesmerkel9442 4 года назад

      If u could marry the both of them so rubber baby bumper worked balk of the time, under loads & then u basically limit the max hit or bottomed out ht w/ your hydraulic deal.

    • @jamesmerkel9442
      @jamesmerkel9442 4 года назад

      The trick would b to hve your hydraulic end pass down THRU the stop pnt of the rubber baby bumper stop pnt. That way u get the full effect of the star of the show which flat works, video sells it. Then your shock bumper kicks in 4 or 5" extra travel softening the hit & setting the hard ceiling for this flight op engagement. We get to gether or we work apart but your guy lost b4 the bell rang.

    • @jamesmerkel9442
      @jamesmerkel9442 4 года назад

      U could truss over the spot in the frame u notched so the box is NOW taller & stronger right where u cut it out. No diff than adding a header for window opening for sliding door & transferring that load on the sides. Your box frame needs a header NOW for sure.
