- Soulja Boy, the first rapper to do everything. The king of the internet. While he stayed relevant for all these years, the biggest thing he ever did was the FIRST thing he ever did, will he ever be able to top that?

Rick
Yo Soulja boy (Big drako) In your song "Crank that" You metioned you wanted to tell us something but couldn't, Big drako what were you trying to tell us?
soulja.... the only nigga to comment on videos about him 😂
the legend
Sup Souljah boy itsallgoodbaby muchlove
A lot of people who weren't around back then don't realize the amount of hate Soulja boy got especially from the old heads. Rap was a lot more serious back then and Soulja Boy stood out like a sore thumb.
I recall Ice T saying Soulja Boy ruined hip hop
@@chadhenry961 I remember that. They had the videos going back and forth when you could still video reply on RUclips 😂
@@elnyoutube123 i rewatched those
theyre even funnier than I remember. The Boondocks parodied it too
And now Ice T is embarrassed of it, admitting it was an old man rant and he was out of touch with newer hip hop lyrics, which is also what Soulja said in his response to ice Ts diss in between roasting him
in a nutshell, he did started everything that's associated with modern hip hop, good and bad, which includes the issues with lyricism as something irrelevant in mainstream hip hop (save exceptions), soulja's music was and will still being bad, but his genius as a producer is just insane.
"He made 7 million dollars. Enough to live off of for 7 years..."
Wtf that'd last me a lifetime.
He blew it on crack and crack headed whores 🤣

@@BADVlBES Compared to me you earn a lot more. With $7M, I would be sorted for life. I'd invest in real estate and open up businesses man I wish😂
When Soulja dies he’s gonna have “first rapper to die” on his tombstone
Lmao
Forreal tho 😂🤣
Frfr
Matter fact it would be " the first rapper to do it "
As funny as that would be it would also be just as legendary on his ppls part to go thru with it. Lol
As soon as you think Soulja boy is on his last couple clout points he always finds a way to become Hot again fucking legend
goated
Exactly
Yo! Do me a favor if you have the time and check out my new music video !
Pac is a legend. This dude ain't.
He’s a phoenix
I have a new respect for him musically now. Thanks for history behind this young man.
Same here
I don’t like him musically but I absolutely have a newfound respect for his grind, dedication & creativity
soulja boy off in dis hoeeeee watch me crank it watsh me roll
I give him props because I had to hear THAT song at every school dance and every party for about 10 years, and I STILL hear it to this day at weddings for my peers
*Soulja Boy basically drove on a bumpy road but kept his hands on the wheel....never giving up on yourself isn't just a mentality it's the way of life...*
Soulja Boy gives himself the flowers the world is late on delivering & I'm here for it.
you know what. imma start giving myself the flowers I deserve too.
Soulja boy tellem
@@babe7138 Matter in fact, Imma give myself one as well.
People tend forget easily, that's why you gotta remind them lol
Because his music is bad. In the grand scheme of things growing through social media was going to be a thing with or without Soulja boy youtube was going to be the next big thing with or without Soulja boy. So artists were going to be on it with or without Soulja boy. And MySpace was originally supposed to be for musical artists and bands to post their music so obviously that would have been done with or without Soulja boy too. As someone who actually lived through it as a teenager and not a child I can tell you Soulja boy didn't have as big of an influence as everybody thinks. Yea crank that blew up for a summer and people made different versions but that's where his influence in music truly starts and ends and it was a horrible 1. All those songs were awful
I did not realize how much of a genius he actually is.
He has the right work ethic even if he runs out of song ideas his networking and hustle is crazy
facts
Yea sadly he was just ahead of his time u see apps like tiktok make new artists everyday and other forms of social media imagine crank that or Superman in today’s time that alone could propel him into mainstream and would be way more famous and successful
Not to mention he be making his own beats n shit too and has been
yea i mean he just paid thid guy to talk about him
I kinda feel bad for him. He got famous so fast when he was young and didn’t realise that fame and music career don’t always last forever
Bruh he is still grinding what are u literally talkin about lmao he’s still more relevant than plenty of rappers nd puts out music simply because he feels like it…doesn’t need any bullshit promotion either…feel bad for what 😂 he doin fine
@@lordsmorgasbord Keep telling yourself that lol
He also went huge in kind of a bad way for himself. Crank That was such a bubblegum pop rap type of song outside of a few lines that his primary audience was white suburbia and pop radio, which made it damn near impossible for him to be taken seriously later. The kid was dancing to it on Ellen FFS. If he'd never released Crank That he wouldn't have gotten as big but he likely could have enjoyed a slow climb and be given more respect now.
@@ZachGatesHere most ppl at live rap shows are white lol doesn’t mean other ethnicities don’t listen to his music….nd his net worth has only increased since the start of his career nd like I said he still releases music consistently…u can’t say the same for like any other artists who were poppin back then…most ppl that make a million as a child go broke or their parents fuck it up
@@lordsmorgasbordDelusional
Yooo, Soulja is relatable as hell for real. Many child stars go way crazier. Plus, I know most dudes can relate to spazzin out and sayin some things they regret, even on the internet at this point. He’s a character, the more he embraces that side of himself and doesn’t take trolls seriously, he’s golden.
I give props to soulja because he literally was the first rapper to hit the internet. He paved the way for a lot of rappers
Not really bec if he didn't then someone eles would of so that's doesn't make him a legend
@@skullnbones2157 is Neil Armstrong a legend? Just because someone else would have done it doesn't mean that you're not a legend for doing it first.
You think it wouldn’t have happened if he didn’t do it first? The way was paved for anyone to use that road. Being first on that road is the equivalent as commenting “first” on a video
@@lawjef
You should become a multimillionaire then. There must be a paved road somewhere for you to be the first to go for a drive...

He's smart
I respect him, not only great at making catchy songs, but also dancing and has an extremely keen eye on ways to get his platform out there.
Very inspiring.
He was kind of ahead of his time with his marketing strategies. The internet back then isn’t the internet we have now. He made it work
I still hear him say "DRAAAAAKKEEEE?!" randomly in my head. Also I remember the ringtone era. What a time to be alive

It is a good name.
Ive never listened to the album but there is absolutely no way that it can be the dopest album ever, or even of that month from that year.
I give him props on making big money and fooling the world. But his music is leaves me in awe...not a good way.
Sorry, i just wanted to be a hater for a sec.
I have nothing but respect for Soulja. His music isn't that great but he's such a unique character. His rise to fame is documented very well. I love him.
Everything you said was spot on ! I’m literally a huge Soulja boy fan. Thanks for this video
I've always said this. Soulja boy was the first influencer.
You refuse signning him up...phebs he refused to sell his soul 🤣lmfao
The first influencer is Paris Hilton
What year were you born in? Nah! Lol
put some respek on Paris Hilton's name my guy
First rapper to copy every hot rapper at the time.
Jokes aside he really is a pioneer. It’s impressive to see all he’s done in his life with entrepreneurship, I realize why he’s so prideful about his achievements!
Lol I always kinda thought he was underrated, my opinion he had a few hits: Kiss Me Thru The Phone, Swag On.....and maybe that's it lol but I bet just those 3 songs could probably fed him for years
real
I got to say on “Speakers going Hammer” Soulja was spitting some bars
And that's amazing ❤❤❤
I agree
One thing about Soulja, he is consistent as H E L L. No matter if he has a billion streams or 1 stream, he gets up everyday and keeps grinding. Wow
Crank That is still one of the most devastatingly simple and hard-hitting rap beat in history.
I think it’s hard to disagree that Soulja was a genius in how he marketed himself in the beginning. I wonder if that was all him or if his father played a role in his social media decisions

His promotion game is off the charts
He knows how to make hits

Insane work ethic
Ik Soulja might be dragging the whole “give me my credit” thing but honestly after seeing this he really does deserve a lot more praise, it’s not ez being the first to do something n it actually works, sad to say but they won’t realize his true impact till he’s gone, a literal living legend.

I think he’s someone who greatly succeeded but also suffered from the term “Ahead of it’s time” he came into the game in a mixed void and took advantage of early social media before it’s peak and made a success out of it after the whole gang rap era that dominated the 90s and early 2000s but most pioneers rarely get the credit for what they started and it’s the person after that reaps their benefits but due to the game changing and drake Chris Brown Wayne and kayne started their dominant grip on mainstream media he fell off and his music wasn’t on that level I believe today he could have been way more successful with tiktok Instagram And RUclips and make way more money and more well known he’s a product of the mid 2000s as the forgotten
No, he literally just happened to do it at the perfect time. Soulja boy would get 0 plays today because he's seriously lacking in talent. You think he would have been able to compete?? No way you actually believe that he's literally the least talented in the industry. Kanyes lift yourself is better than Soulja's whole discography and that song was a troll for drake
@@CAVEMANsean there’s multiple artists today that lack talent but with music labels heavily pushing plants and so many platforms to be marketed and pushed on not to mention way more social media nowadays where’s it easy to blow up off of one vid and grind off that
