Jennette McCurdy's book really opened my eyes to the unique challenges faced with child stardom.
Being a child star makes it very difficult to evolve and grow in your career - once you're a Disney Darling, that's all people see you as, and it's really difficult to find work after your breakout show is canceled.
And having a lot of fame and money before you're old enough to really embrace it responsibly is a recipe for disaster. It really is no wonder that so many child stars grow into stunted adults with substance abuse issues and poor behavior.
I've just finished her book as well and it was disturbing how fucked up a child star can get... It's really sad actually :(
Harry Potter...I mean Daniel did it and it took forever
I once saw an interview with the actors who played the kids in Home Improvement. They described their experiences with Disney, whenever they wanted to negotiate their contracts, to get better payment. Disney constantly threatened to replace them and even helt fake auditions for these replacements. One of the three also went totally off the rails.
I think ariana grande only made it cause her mom is rich as fuck.

Drugs psychosis is terrifying. There’d be times he’d be pacing the streets mumbling about the boys who r*ped him when he was a kid.
He found comfort in our childhood home because that was the only place he could lock himself up in safely. He always talked of our home, and one day us having a family again in our home. He was obsessed with that ideal future he had.
I see now it’s because his psyche is stunted and the last time he felt safe was before it happened when he was home and safe with our family. He got stuck there, mentally. Around 2018, a coked out Orlando Brown went to my friend’s home studio in the desert and recorded a bunch of doo wap shit n those recordings sit on his computer to this day. I wish y’all could hear it, it’s insane
I NEED!..to hear that shit. Lol

15:44 THERE'S NO FUCKING WAY HE JUST CALLED OUT DIDDY AND NOBODY NOTICED
I’m glad Raven never addressed any of this foolishness. It’s super ridiculous to hear interviewers ask her.
I remember Orlando Brown. He seemed like such a cool kid but the fame, poor decisions and the corrupt business that is Disney ruined him. I hope he manages to turn his life around
I really appreciate the note that you ended on: he's still a talented and good guy, and most importantly he's making an effort. So many people who struggle with addiction don't understand how much it matters when you really make a sincere effort, and that's all that their loved ones need from them is to not be perfect but to just try.
YOOO HE CALLED OUT DIDDY2024
This guy has always fascinated me, ever since That's So Raven. Great video. Your editing and narration is on point. Keep it up!
So happy he has found comfort in his faith. Also, a lot of people with certain mental illnesses will often look like those who are abusing drugs. I hope he gets the help and peace he deserves. It is so sad how once Disney dropped him, everything just stopped.
I was hoping you would talk about it cause you always treat situations like these with respect instead of going for low hanging fruit.
Ravens response to the interviewer at 11:54 is so chillingly professional and unmessy. She has her brand SO on lock. Hats off to you, Mrs. Symone 😭
This was a tasteful video honestly. You “went there” without actually demeaning anyone involved. That’s an impressive feat
Omg! So true… my exacts thoughts. I am impressed to say the least
We play the new Patrick uploads on the big screen at my house.

this was utterly depressing, thank you for going through the effort to share part of his story. the fact that I felt so heavy after this video means youre good at what you do, keep it up
HE WAS RIGHT ABOUT DIDDY THOUGH
08:36 “Orlando showed off his terrible hand tattoo of the cast, which Raven loved”
*Raven dying inside*
😂 the dead pan sarcasm is hilarious
I know the strength of my Cummm.
🤣🤣
Lol
Imagine if Orlando Brown never ran in with the law in 2007.
I think things would have caught up with him. His whole lifestyle is problematic. But I do think Raven did have some kind of inappropriate relationship.
What's sad is I think his story would be completely different. He lost his entire career over a weed charge. I'd spiral too if I lost all I worked for over something that stupid. In 2022 it's legal in many states and people now openly talk about using it. It's safer than alcohol (80,000 people a year die from alcohol related deaths)
He had weed, sure weed is not too bad as other drugs but it wouldnt be surprising little bit of this (or alot) can lead to harder shit. Plus his money was getting stolen. Like someone else said, his life sounded problematic. It could have gone both way with this incident or one later down the line.
I also think they dated. Mayhaps it wasnt as sexual exaggerated as Orlando claims but there was definitely something there.
@@zuglymonster yeah. If he didn’t lose his career he might’ve had some stability or options not being kept out by Disney but who knows
@@zuglymonster And the crazy thing is, weed is probably the least problematic thing you could do. So many things a person could have their lives ruined over and for him it had to be WEED of all things. WEED?
Sadly he started acting up again either yesterday or the day before you posted this😭 we all go through our ups and downs, I hope he's able to move up consistently soon.
2 years later he was right about Diddy
thank you for humanizing him. i was talking to a girl the other day that didnt even know what withdrawal was. alot of people dont understand what addiction is, so thank you
That grin while making the pizza took me out 🤣😂. He's a naturally funny, talented guy. Addiction is a beast that's hard to conquer - but not impossible. I pray he comes out on the other side. 🙏🙏💓
Just pointing out, he doesn’t deny being on drugs..he’s referring to a “recovery” program (AA Meetings and groups). Orlando clearly don’t go to meetings lol. Meetings are really beneficial to learn from. 5 years sober here. Either way love your videos man, you do great work I’ve been through almost all of them and I just subbed last week. Keep it up man!
Idk 🤷♀️
I’m in recovery but am not part of any 12 step program. I’ve never heard it was synonymous with each other like that but hey to each their own lol
i haven't watched the video but he's outwardly said he was on meth and recovering so i hope the video doesn't skip over that!
@@Jessica_Costantini as am I, but I only know that because I’m in recovery. I don’t do meetings either. I’m my opinion he just seems to not want to be associated with meetings. I could be wrong. Either way, Kudos on your recovery! 💪🏼 💪🏼
Yes. A lot of people just don't want to be labeled as "recovering addict" and would rather not give out their sobriety date too, especially if they're a chronic relapser. It leads to expectations being set and having to maintain those expectations/accountability.
Congrats on the sobriety 💯
It’s interesting how Anneliese Van Der Pol got arrested for DUI as well, but we never heard about that and Disney didn’t care.
The show ended the year she got sentenced, maybe try harder when you want to complain about race. You’re also trying to defend a clown dude that smokes rocks and disowned by his family but tell us how hard his past was. Not how he can change the future
@@rd9669 its crazy how literally none of what you're complaining about was mentioned or even implied in the comment.
@@Oliviaandtrina so why bring her up in comparison to this addict, you know what’s being implied because she has nothing to do with his life they both just have records one a little bit longer.
@@Oliviaandtrina it’s crazy y’all think we are all just as slow slow as y’all, just because you fall for the bs doesn’t mean we all do
@@rd9669 its still hypocritical regardeless of her race and gender that's the point. Youre projecting
He's not a bad guy. He was never a bad guy. Circumstances made him spiral this way. I hope he's ok.
As a recovering addict, the guy is just desperately sick. I wouldn’t be surprised if the methamphetamine binges causes periods of psychosis which is where the super crazy stuff came from. People who get clean from meth can still have unstable mental states if they stray from any medication they might now be on (in recovery). Also, it can cause mental conditions to surface that wouldn’t have otherwise until a far later age.
No, he's not a bad guy, but let's keep it real. Drugs are the reason he's in the position he is today.
He's not ok.
You don't get a free pass to act a fool because you're an addict.
Lack of accountability is a huge problem these days.
Let's compare Orlando to Macaulay Culkin, both were Child stars, both got into very unfortunate circumstances, both as child actors and in their ensuing lives as adults. The difference, beside racial, is that Mack eventually learned to come to terms with what happened, despite loosing most of the money he earned to his parents, he in turn emancipated himself from his parents who were atealing from him and he became his own parent gaurdian at age 16. I'm not sure what Orlando has done in terms of bettering himself, but in just these clips, I can see he's not taking accountability for his actions, and even if your wronged in the world, that doesn't justify wronging others or inflicting one's pain onto others. There are others that are lole him, and don't resort to a lifetime of addiction, Mack got sober, despite almost dying to drugs around the 2010's, he wss looking like a zombie, and skinny to the bone, now he's got a RUclips Channel, I think, and seems sober. At least, not on the hard stuff, which Orlando is definitely still on, and there's no excuse to use hard drugs to escape reality, because soberity is realiity.
Having a televised therapy for millions to see with a " Doctor" was the most horrible and cruel things they could have done to him. He needed a true professional on a private setting to help him out and get his life back and with the help of his family, he might be able to get his life back.
I agree! Once it got to that part, it was ...difficult to watch (I'm a recovering alcoholic 4 years sober) Broadcasting him at his lowest is Evil and disgusting. If there is a hell, I hope Phil Burns. I mean it!
Hollywood is disgusting for ALL OF A SUDDEN, deciding to put the cameras on him when he clearly was not mentally aware enough for any of what was going on that episode.
Any viewers that got entertained by this should be ashamed.
I've struggled with addiction and know other people who have too so seeing this really breaks my heart 😕 An ex best friend of mine struggled from the same type of addiction as him (meth) and I was front and center for a good chunk of it because we were roommates and I can promise you it's A LOT scarier in person that shit literally rots your brain and makes you a shell of your former self so it doesn't surprise me in the least that Orlando was acting like this because he was the same exact way.. Just so sad tbh.
I had an ex best friend (since childhood) who was also my roommate and he got into meth, I kept thinking about him while watching this video. It’s definitely scary. I felt like I could never let my guard down, and had some very fucked up experiences, especially when he’d enter psychosis. He’s already a kinda aggressive person to begin with. It also affected my family a lot. Took me awhile but had to cut him off due to what he became. Meth is especially vicious, because it makes them so unstable and manic and delusional, almost got stabbed and more by him. It feels like that old person is dead, and even after it they don’t seem fully the same. Meth is the only drug I’ve seen have longer term effects on people. Known people who used H and other stuff and it never makes them all erratic and that or have some aspects of psychotic delusions after. I feel you
Watching after diddy arrest... sheds whole new light
He's not as crazy as people think. He's just hurt. That man got good good sense.
I agree, a child actor often revive a lot of unwanted attention and I think child actor should be treated with care, it's easy to see how easily a miss step can be used to define a person. Poor guy, failing into the trap that ruined many other child actor.
Sorry but no, you have to be 100% crazy to drive under the influence or scream death/rape threats at people.
@@EighmyLupin I know it’s his own fault, but we got to understand what lead to start on that path in first place. There is some fault in people around him to influence him like that.
I’m starting to agree with that sentiment, I used to think he was crazy but with all the stuff that’s coming out about Disney and Nickelodeon being run by freaky assholes is started believing a lot of what he’s been saying, I think he may be slightly crazy but a lot of the things he is saying is true
💯💯👆 I could not imagine the same people who were suppose to protect me the people he helped get money are the same people who pushed him to the edge never trying to get him help 🧐🧐🧐🧐🧐🧐 where's his parents
Finally! A serious deep dive video about this dude. He’s been off the rails for years man, it was sad at first but now it’s too annoying to care about.
Actually troycetv has a 47 minute deep dive on him. It's very interesting and there are more, it's just usually covered by smaller channels. 😉
It's sad because as a kid, Orlando had a pure "light" to him that would brighten up any room. All kids have this to some extent, but we all know those one-of-a-kind kids that just have that ability to make an entire. Yet, he was forced into the Hollywood machine, turned into a product, and then spit out on the other side.
Even with all his drug use and mental health issues, you can still see how talented and funny he is. How he can just break into a character and make everyone laugh. It's just so messed up that society allows children to be used this way, and to be thrown to the wolves after the fact.
Kids are not meant to do adult jobs, and they are not meant to be exposed to fame and money at such a young age. There is a reason why 99% of the child actors that do end up sane, it's because their parents shielded them and forced them to live a "normal" life. Most of these actors didn't even realize they were famous or had money, because their parents made sure to separate their acting gigs as a "job" from their home/school life.
Sadly this doesn't happen very often, and most kids end up like Orlando. It just sucks because a lot of his behavior is his own fault, so most won't have any sympathy. But people forget that he had his entire childhood robbed from him, and he lived decades with abuse. A lot of his drug use is prob him trying to self-medicate and cope. LASTLY - DISNEY is evil for dropping him. That first arrest was sus and sounds like racial profiling.
It's funny how marijuana is now legal in many states, yet him just having a tiny traces of it on the passenger door, is enough for him to be arrested and to lose his career. Disney has actual predators hired as producers and will keep them. But will fire an actor for the most harmless thing? Screw them.
THAT LAST PART ABOUT THE PREDATORS WORKING FOR THEM! Like Brian Peck. He was a registered sex offender when they hired him for the suite life of zack and cody. 🤮
And this isn't the only time where Disney did the actors that worked for them dirty, there's plenty of histories from back then. The more I knew about Disney, the less I was interested in them in general. Not it's just disappointment and indifference for all the times Disney as a whole mistreating all who they bring into their company. Robin Williams was right to do what he did, so did Cole and Dyland Sprouse.
the most fucked up thing is how people defend Disney, blaming Orlando for being drugged up.
people had it so easy with their lives that they take their mental health for granted and act like it was all about them....
To be fair, Marijuana didn't start to become legalized by states until 2012. Orlando was arrested in 2007 for possessing it. Marijuana wasn't accepted by the general public in 2007, whereas now it is considered to be "normal" by a decent chunk of people.
You cannot have a normal life and star in a Disney show. The children are there, Mon-Fri, all day. By the time they go home, there is no time left to have a “normal life.” They are also on-call 24 hours a day.
Coming back to this video now after finding out about the Pdiddy allegation’s makes me feel like Orlando wasn’t lying about any of the things he was saying..
“the fact that he’s still trying is monumental” my heart 🥺
Absolutely nuts to think about what must have happened behind the scenes. In literally every show those creators and producers were involved in, there was at least one actor/actress that subsequently had a mental breakdown, and the ones that didn’t just quietly removed themselves from the public eye
💯💯💯
People feed off watching people spiral out of control. They don't want to help. They find it entertaining.
Great video BTW
Bro we have to apologies to this man
Thank you for not bashing him and talking bad about him because of his addiction but yet you were understanding and hopeing better for him!! That attitude gained you another subscriber!! Keep up the great content!! Stay Hydrated!!
Thank you for handling these tough topics with the respect that they deserve.
I dated a guy that was diagnosed schizophrenic and he acted a lot like this. Idk what kind of drugs he could be on that would make him say his child was 2 years old but still in the moms belly. I'm a recovering addict who has done every drug at some point in time other than crack and I've never been that messed up to say something that makes no sense at all. I think it could be a combination of drug abuse and a mental disorder. The guy that I dated that was schizophrenic had an obsession with claiming he was related to celebrities..one time he said Bob Marley was his grandpa. It just seems really familiar to Orlando saying that Michael Jackson was his father and then claiming other celebrities were his father. It's so sad. 💔
Meth can do it if you have a mental illness. Idk if my uncle is schizo as he's never been diagnosed but when he's high he definitely does the related to, dated, or could telepathically communicate with celebrities particularly Mariah Carey, Christina Aguilera, and Shakira. I've done meth in the past and it's never made me like that but than again I only used it to diet/starve so it was a strictly daytime thing I made sure I got my sleep. I think when people last days awake it could mess with them as I've witnessed friends claim someone was outside the window when there was no one weird things like that cause they weren't sleeping well.

Ngl I expected this to be disrespectful at best. Not because of anything you've ever said or done, you've always spoken about subjects like this with empathy. But because people usually see addiction as a moral fault, especially when it comes to heroin/fentanyl and/or meth. When I was in rehab, other addicts looked down on me and others for doing fentanyl, while they all did drugs, too. Thank you for being respectful and understanding. I can't imagine being thrown into the spotlight at such a young age and not being able to cope.
I've been an addict since I was 14 and my dad died from his addiction, so it pains me to see people crucified for their addictions. I hope he can heal and continue on the right path.

No they don't. Most people understand addiction. I was on Crack, heroin, pills, alcohol. 15 years clean
@@robogreek3157 I'm glad that's been your experience. It has not been mine. Strangers have told me that my family would be better off if I was dead. Even in treatment, my alcoholic roommate looked at me and said "if I knew they allowed junkies here, I would've gone somewhere else."

All that money and all those people around him and no one ever told him NEVER to say ANYTHING to the police or consent to search or sobriety tests. Why weren't there lawyers, agents, or PARENTS to protect him? So sad
