Jennette McCurdy's book really opened my eyes to the unique challenges faced with child stardom.
Being a child star makes it very difficult to evolve and grow in your career - once you're a Disney Darling, that's all people see you as, and it's really difficult to find work after your breakout show is canceled.
And having a lot of fame and money before you're old enough to really embrace it responsibly is a recipe for disaster. It really is no wonder that so many child stars grow into stunted adults with substance abuse issues and poor behavior.

My brother is an addict, he never wanted to become an addict. He was just a kid who got seriously abused by our older cousins and neglected by our parents and grew up wanting the bad memories to go away.
Drugs psychosis is terrifying. There’d be times he’d be pacing the streets mumbling about the boys who r*ped him when he was a kid.
He found comfort in our childhood home because that was the only place he could lock himself up in safely. He always talked of our home, and one day us having a family again in our home. He was obsessed with that ideal future he had.
I see now it’s because his psyche is stunted and the last time he felt safe was before it happened when he was home and safe with our family. He got stuck there, mentally. I could see how Orlando got fixated on Raven. Raven was his safety back then, even over his own parents and it’s obvious. He’s depressed. He’s lost. Surrounded by enablers and abusers. His experience filming That’s So Raven was his his most comforting experience, his heights. It was also his ONLY experience. It makes sense.

Let's compare Orlando to Macaulay Culkin, both were Child stars, both got into very unfortunate circumstances, both as child actors and in their ensuing lives as adults. The difference, beside racial, is that Mack eventually learned to come to terms with what happened, despite loosing most of the money he earned to his parents, he in turn emancipated himself from his parents who were atealing from him and he became his own parent gaurdian at age 16. I'm not sure what Orlando has done in terms of bettering himself, but in just these clips, I can see he's not taking accountability for his actions, and even if your wronged in the world, that doesn't justify wronging others or inflicting one's pain onto others. There are others that are lole him, and don't resort to a lifetime of addiction, Mack got sober, despite almost dying to drugs around the 2010's, he wss looking like a zombie, and skinny to the bone, now he's got a RUclips Channel, I think, and seems sober. At least, not on the hard stuff, which Orlando is definitely still on, and there's no excuse to use hard drugs to escape reality, because soberity is realiity.

It's sad because as a kid, Orlando had a pure "light" to him that would brighten up any room. All kids have this to some extent, but we all know those one-of-a-kind kids that just have that ability to make an entire. Yet, he was forced into the Hollywood machine, turned into a product, and then spit out on the other side.
Even with all his drug use and mental health issues, you can still see how talented and funny he is. How he can just break into a character and make everyone laugh. It's just so messed up that society allows children to be used this way, and to be thrown to the wolves after the fact.
Kids are not meant to do adult jobs, and they are not meant to be exposed to fame and money at such a young age. There is a reason why 99% of the child actors that do end up sane, it's because their parents shielded them and forced them to live a "normal" life. Most of these actors didn't even realize they were famous or had money, because their parents made sure to separate their acting gigs as a "job" from their home/school life.
Sadly this doesn't happen very often, and most kids end up like Orlando. It just sucks because a lot of his behavior is his own fault, so most won't have any sympathy. But people forget that he had his entire childhood robbed from him, and he lived decades with abuse. A lot of his drug use is prob him trying to self-medicate and cope. LASTLY - DISNEY is evil for dropping him. That first arrest was sus and sounds like racial profiling.
It's funny how marijuana is now legal in many states, yet him just having a tiny traces of it on the passenger door, is enough for him to be arrested and to lose his career. Disney has actual predators hired as producers and will keep them. But will fire an actor for the most harmless thing? Screw them.

Meth can do it if you have a mental illness. Idk if my uncle is schizo as he's never been diagnosed but when he's high he definitely does the related to, dated, or could telepathically communicate with celebrities particularly Mariah Carey, Christina Aguilera, and Shakira. I've done meth in the past and it's never made me like that but than again I only used it to diet/starve so it was a strictly daytime thing I made sure I got my sleep. I think when people last days awake it could mess with them as I've witnessed friends claim someone was outside the window when there was no one weird things like that cause they weren't sleeping well.

Ngl I expected this to be disrespectful at best. Not because of anything you've ever said or done, you've always spoken about subjects like this with empathy. But because people usually see addiction as a moral fault, especially when it comes to heroin/fentanyl and/or meth. When I was in rehab, other addicts looked down on me and others for doing fentanyl, while they all did drugs, too. Thank you for being respectful and understanding. I can't imagine being thrown into the spotlight at such a young age and not being able to cope.
I've been an addict since I was 14 and my dad died from his addiction, so it pains me to see people crucified for their addictions. I hope he can heal and continue on the right path.

No they don't. Most people understand addiction. I was on Crack, heroin, pills, alcohol. 15 years clean

@@robogreek3157 I'm glad that's been your experience. It has not been mine. Strangers have told me that my family would be better off if I was dead. Even in treatment, my alcoholic roommate looked at me and said "if I knew they allowed junkies here, I would've gone somewhere else."
Be on twitter for 15 minutes and I think you might change your mind that most people understand. A lot of people ages 20-35 are very nasty and angry about it.

All that money and all those people around him and no one ever told him NEVER to say ANYTHING to the police or consent to search or sobriety tests. Why weren't there lawyers, agents, or PARENTS to protect him? So sad
