Good ending to the movie.
Wow, never thought about the lyrics. About suicidal thoughts, and how people dismiss or even ridicule those people when they try to talk about it. It should also apply to those in horrible chronic pain, like me, when we try to get people to understand how horrible our quality of life is, just barely surviving, not living. Many times I've told my relatives how bad it is and how I'm slowly being forced into suicide, and every time they give me the "oh, you're being melodramatic." It's pure cognitive dissonance to see this reaction over and over by the people who are supposed to care from me. As the pain increases and my ability to function decreases every day, yet others refuse to accept that, It feels like going mad, really.
For years now, literally every time I call my Mom she seems totally surprised all my health problems aren't better, as if, despite me constantly telling her things always get worse day to day to month to year, she still assumes that last call was just some phase. Incredible.
mmh.. people have a tendency to.. selectively forget things that are uncomfortable. people will often tell you if youre depressed or suicidal.. that itll be better if you talk about it.. but.. over time, youll realize that noone really wants to listen. were all in this alone really.. but that makes us stronger i hear? chronic pain.. is a super bitch btw. have it aswell in the brain department and 80% of your daily energy goes to just put of the image that youre alright.. stick in there man :)

I grew up with the Tears for Fears version, but I love both for different reasons. They each have a different vibe. But to hear this song in this style when I first watched Donnie Darko was quite the shock. Tears for Fears was easily one of my favorite pop groups of the 80's. Even back then I was more of a metal head, but most other metal heads I know still respected groups like Tears for Fears, Depeche Mode, and The Cars.

I Can Relate Too This Song Because It Brings Tears Too My Eyes And I Can Really Sing The Song Really Good
There are many teachers who just don't care enough and do look right through some students. The song is Perfection of his experience.
I love Tears For Fears but I do think this version is better than the original.

I can't listen to this song anymore ever since it was used in a video about the dairy industry. Now all I can think of when I hear it is an enslaved mother cow, being forcibly impregnated and having her baby stolen from her, year after year. It's really heartbreaking. It is a mad world indeed that we live in when we can do that to innocent beings for nothing more than our taste pleasure. :(

I don't the original too fast and disjointed feeling. Too chaotic.
I'm a dissenting voice, I can't stand this version, it's like they think slowing it down adds gravitas whereas I think it's the play on the happy/sad theme of the original that makes you think.
I disagree. The slowed down version fits perfectly with the tone of the movie and the original version is way to fast to have been used for the movie.
