100% agree. i hate it when people are overly precious about their hobbies, the fountain pen community especially can get so elitist sometimes. Value comes from the act, its comes from USE, not hoarding physical objects.
I’m sorry for the loss of your dog. A dog is a powerful love and a connection. As someone who once offered content where others could comment, I found negative comments were meaningless and not helpful but still painful. While I’m not one who uses lots of different ink your reviews are entertaining, beautiful and I see them as video art.
I'm so sorry about your loss. I've lost a few furry friends also and I know how it feels. I realized that the pain I felt from their passing was the price I paid for all the love they had given me.
I'm sorry someone commented in a way that starts to squeeze the fun out of this hobby. You're putting the fun in it for the rest of us and I look forward to and enjoy your videos! Most importantly, my sincere condolences on the loss of your sweet pup, pets truly are one of the family.
I rarely comment, but this was inspiring and lovely. I’ve enjoyed your videos for several months now, and though I can’t help but gasp when I see your ink splashing everywhere, I admire your philosophy. Enjoy what you have, life is fleeting. Sincere sympathies for the loss of your sweet pup.
I've been a subscriber for a while now. And this video was interesting. While I still gasp over the inks being used like this, I see the beauty of the swirls in water or the shapes they take on paper. As for "wasting" ink, you're spending your own money, so it's not my place to criticize you in any way, shape or form. And personally I probably have more inks than I can use up while still wanting to buy more. Whether I do, is my choice. As long as you get joy from the way you use your inks, all's good. Thank you for taking the time to make your videos. They do add value to my life. And, finally, although it's almost exactly one year after you originally posted this, losing a pet hurts.
I rejoice in your ink philosophy. It inspires me to see and enjoy more from my fountain pen and ink hobby. I admire your ability to respond rather than react and your calm voice to me neutralizes the negative vibes from angry comments. Keep tossing the ink bottles and making the dynamic ink shots. They always remind me to appreciate and celebrate the now and what we have.
I love that you step out of the comfort zone and show the properties of the ink in a brand new way. I agree with you about using what you have. The rare occasions where I've run into other fountain pen people when I'm out and about, writing, they're shocked that my high end pens leave the house and that I'm using them 'out in the wild'. If I don't use them at every opportunity that I've got, they would go to waste. No one complains about using their, much more expensive, cars 'out in the wild', so why should we follow the rules about only using our fountain pens and inks in certain places and in certain ways?! It's time to break the mould and be free!
This was a lovely video! I only just recently subscribed to your channel and am now enjoying all these gorgeous videos. So sorry for the loss of your furbaby, I can only imagine how painful that must have been. I have a channel as well and sometimes I get really nasty comments that I have to delete straight away or my confidence will get shaken up. I admire your ink philosophy and I must say that I agree 100%. I collect tarot decks and I can't help but thinking that they need to be used to be enjoyed. Thank you for everything!
Thanks so much for checking out my backlog! My mother has saved “good china” for so long now and is selling it having never used it. She is getting a fraction of the price she paid for it and is pretty wistful about it. I don’t want to do that with my hobby. I subscribed 💖
I am a Deacon in my church with hopes of becoming a Chaplain in time. Your words touched me deeply when you said "Anger is a result of not understanding". That is such a sage and embracing understanding you shared. I would like to add it to my toolbox of comforting words.
Alesa, that commenter was flat wrong. Your videos are a delight of form and function (and fun!!) I may be just an online stranger, but I am sorry for your loss and hope that time has been kinder in the intervening months.
Thank you so much Marie. I find myself thinking a lot more about her lately and they say that is the way of grief--there is a lot of delayed sorrow. She was a good life teacher.
I’m so sorry for your loss. It’s never easy to lose a fur baby. Thanks for the links to the websites. I was extremely happy when I saw the inkswatch website yesterday, and the fountain pen companion i hadn’t heard of so thanks for the insight! Take care
I'm sorry about your puppy. I love your videos and wouldn't want you to change anything. I'm in America with many stressing incidents going on and I have come to the fountain pen world for a place of solace. Your videos, in particular, are soothing. I love watching the ink being poured out into a glass or water. So pretty.
Alesa, my condolences to you on your sweet little Pom......Really appreciate your uniqueness and thanks for the head's up on inkswatch.com. Take care ...🐾🐾
So sorry to hear the loss of your dog. The connection we have with pets is amazing. And random people’s anger says more about them than you. I love your videos! Please keep them coming!
Your videos bring a lot of joy. Thanks so much for all that you do. Also, I feel sure that your dog knew she was loved which is comforting. I slept on the floor with one of my bunnies when he was dying too. It is hard that our pets don’t live as long as we do. Sending you hugs!
I’ve only recently discovered your channel, I absolutely love it. You seem to focus on exactly the parts of the hobby I most enjoy / relate to. The person who left that comment no doubt was experiencing anger before ever watching your video. Not that you deserve to be the focus/ outlet for that anger, you obviously do not. I am not good at shrugging off negativity I encounter online, but I try to bear in mind that in some way the people spewing venom are themselves in pain. Keep doing what you are doing, I get a lot of enjoyment from it.
Inky.Rocks my goodness, yes I do! I just got a bottle of HaHa and 162 in the mail today, and I’m browsing Shigure Ink for my first bottles of Tono and Lims. Is this a rabbit hole I see before me? Also, I wonder if you know a friend of mine, Martin Seidel. He lives outside of Albuquerque, but I’m certain he attends the Tucson show as a vendor. He has a lot of really unusual turquoise , he’s on Instagram as “lyrichord” if you’re interested. It’s funny, I’ve been trying to get him into fountain pens and inks for a while, you’re proof that interests in minerals and pens are convergent.
Sorry for the late reply. I didn't get a notification for this. I'll have to check him out. I actually just bought an ink that has ground up turquoise in it! Shigure Ink is dangerous--enjoy your rabbit hole!!
@@billcrabtree8700 aghh! This must be the black hole of notifications. Sorry for the late reply again! None of them are really feed killers. The combined pigment and shimmer just seemed like it would be---two challenges in one ink. Of course, any non pigment and non shimmer is the easiest on your pens. But what makes a lot of the Tono and Lims fun are their shimmer inks!
I am so sorry for the loss of your sweet pup. And I am sorry people need to be cruel on the internet. But I want you to know I love your videos and look forward to them being posted every week. Keep doing what you’re doing. There’s a lot of people out here who appreciate it.
Sorry to hear of your loss. But this reflective video really hit home and I’m also of the thinking of using and sharing rather than hoarding. Thanks for pushing and expanding our way of thinking...
Stumbled across your channel New Years Eve 2020 and subscribed....... Thank You for your love for the fountain pen hobby. Thank you for your efforts in sharing your passion with others. Can’t wait for more in 2021.
I know the loss you are feeling! Sending love and hugs across the way. It is a great philosophy to enjoy and use our inks! Keep enjoying yours! I know I am enjoying mine too!
I enjoy your videos. There will always be those that destroy because they are incapable of constructing. It's sad. I scrolled through the comment section to find that a lot of people enjoy your videos. Try to think about that the next time a sour person pipes up. Also, you have a calming way about you. That is especially appreciated after living through 2020!
Thank you for your lovely feedback. I really do keep it firmly in my mind that so many people are kind and very supportive. To tell you the truth, I tend to get sour grapes kind of stuff when my channel is doing well, so it's basically a marker that I'm connecting with more people. Thanks for adding to the positivity we all need now. Have a great 2021!
This is another vote of confidence for your philosophy of ink and sympathy for the loss of your companion in life. One of the challenges of posting on line is discovering that there are people who post negative comments, sometimes out of anger you can't see or understand. But the other thing about posting in such a mishmash place as this is that you also find video of great joy and compassion and understanding and a familial feeling of finding a person who thinks like you do but from a different place and space in the world. Thank you for posting your incredible video and for spreading the ink around and out. Thank you for your posts. Rock on.
Thank you for your kind words. Sharing my videos brings me such a positive experience that it far outweighs a few angry comments. I find it interesting that they are not condescending but angry--there is a lot of hurt out there. Thanks for your understanding--it's this "ink connection" that I'm always searching for and very happy when I find it!
Alesa, I'm so sorry for your loss. I can't imagine the wave of emotions you're going through. I'm sorry that you've received unpleasant and negative comments. It's energy draining. I've enjoyed your videos as someone who has done video work, I understand million and one things that complicate a 10 sec video... Sending you positive energy, love and compassion! Hang in there!
Thank you so much Lynnette! Actually the fountain pen community is really pretty great. Thanks for the positive energy, love and compassion--I endeavor to spread it!
I discovered your channel about a month ago, and I now set up my day by fixing a cup of tea and watching one of your videos. Sometimes I even rewind and watch them twice...or more. They are beautifully constructed, wildly imaginative, and your striking voice adds to the immense pleasure I get from viewing your carefully orchestrated artistry. Having lived in Japan for ten years, I find a special pleasure in revisiting old haunts and discovering new ones that we will try to visit on our next trip, whenever that may be. I am sorry that there are so many unhappy people out there who seem to derive some sort of vicious pleasure by being cruel. Please ignore tham and carry on.
Thank you very much for your kind comment and support. I am so happy you enjoy my videos and that is really what I need to focus on--making videos that please me and the people that like them haha! That is so cool that you have lived here and I'm sure there are a lot of things you would like to go back and experience. I've lived in Japan off and on and when I'm not here, I miss it!
A beautifully reflective post and I think I speak for most when I say that your ability to reflect on venrmous comments is to be applauded. Rip your lovely dog 🙏
I am sorry for the loss of your furry family member. I am grateful for your videos. They are beautiful, serene, thoughtful, intelligent, informative, and humane. Be well. And thank you.
Fountain pen and fountain pen ink hugs and high-fives: Thank you for all of your time, your videos... I really enjoy these RUclips snapshots; I am glad for your perspective.✌🏼🎁🎶🖋🖤
1. Yours is the one RUclips fountain pen channel that is reliably entertaining, and beautiful, every time. 2. I made a swatch card of Noodler's Lexington Gray. Comparing it to inkswatch.com, you wouldn't suspect it was the same ink if you didn't know. So everybody, remember not to assume the colors are accurate. They aren't. 3. Now I have to open my new bottle of Noodler's Tiananmen and check it out.
Thank you. You are so right about accurate colors. Besides the differences of computer screens, I think also the differences of how someone makes the swatches can affect the look.
Sorry to hear of your loss. Your channel brings me so much joy. I go back and even watch some videos on silence just to see the ink or writing samples. Your channel is essential for some of us especially those who hoard and cry over spilt ink. Even though we think it’s beautiful. Keep it coming. I look forward to the uploads!
Thank you. Hoarding ink is perfectly fine. You can just vicariously enjoy ink splashing on my videos! I'm not against hoarding--I'm only against it if it makes you unhappy. Thank you so much!
This was so beautiful. My only regret is that I didn't find you sooner. Like you, I tend to over do good things to the point of killing them off. I'm trying to free myself and surrender to the play. Thank you for your jotful reminders. And sending a virtual hug on the loss of your sweet friend. I know all too well what that's like ❤️
I love your honesty and your artsy channel. I love rewatching your videos over and over, they are that good. I am sorry you are in pain and it is admirable that you are refocusing on reflection instead of retaliation. Take care of yourself and please continue to enjoy your inks any way you like. 😊
Our capacity to give and receive love from another species is one of the bright and hopeful characteristics of humanity. We seek out the other and are ready to share love and understanding. This bodes well for us if we ever encounter another sentient species in our travels throughout "The Final Frontier" . In the movie "Close Encounters of the Third kind", a great upwelling and rapid movement of clouds presaged the appearance of a huge UFO mother-ship; Spielberg achieved this effect by dropping ink into a water-filled aquarium tank: the end result speaks for itself - much like the wonderful effects you achieve by letting ink flow into the air, into water etc. Your kindness and thoughtfulness and artistry shine throughout your videos and I always look forward to seeing them. I wish you well in this time of grief.
Thank you so much for your kind words. I love your thoughts on our capacity for love and how that is a hopeful characteristic. I absolutely did not know about the Spielberg aquarium tank! Wow. I feel a little justified hahaha! Thanks for always being so supportive.
Condolences on your loss. I think it is often harder to mourn a pet than a human. We're given space and understanding for a human but not often for a pet. I rarely comment on youtube but felt I must in support. I'm so glad you did not let the negative comment that triggered this video get to you. I'm new to the fountain pen and ink hobby (just since June this year). I have been watching a lot of youtube learning about fountain pens and inks. It was only the past few days that the algorithm started suggesting your videos to me, and I've been binge-watching you ever since. I hope you will continue to produce your wonderful content. Also, once the pandemic is over, I'm going to Tokyo timed to coincide with a pen or stationary show. All your videos on Japan's pen and stationary scene have inspired me. I will have to start saving for all the pens and ink and stationary.
Thank you so much for your kind words. Welcome to the fountain pen world--I find it to be rich with interesting and kind people. Definitely when you come to Tokyo, really try to time it with one of the shows--it will be so much more fun. Drop me a line on my email (in the "about" tab) or IG if you are interested in meeting up with some pen people here!
@@InkyRocks Thanks for the kind offer! I would love to meet up with pen people in Tokyo. I will definitely reach out. I'm keeping an eye on the schedule of shows. Hopefully next year. Am dreaming of all the sights and pens already.
Thank you for this and for all your videos. Although I was glad to finally see your face in your "top three pens" video for Appelboom, I appreciate that it is not the focus of your videos as it seems to be for so many in this venue. Calm, playful, informative, unique -- your videos are all these and more. I hope making them helps to buoy you up through life's difficult moments, as watching them does for me. Thanks also for introducing us to those two websites. I don't buy many inks these days, being one of those who has way more ink than I will ever use, but I love to look at them, so these sites (along with your channel) will make that easier.
I am glad your dog was loved so much. They become family. I’m not sure what that viewer was thinking. When I started watching your videos, I had one lone metropolitan and only ink cartridges. Your video started my love of inks and their bottles and now I’m up to 5 different pens. If I hadn’t run across your videos, I wouldn’t have this amazing new hobby. I appreciate that!
Thank you so much for your kind words. This community is a really "big tent" one and there seems to be a lot more acceptance of all kinds of "users" so I am happy you are getting into this hobby!
I love your ink philosophy and your videos and your sweet dog heart. Thank you for putting this wonderful material out here, even when it exposes you to the pathetic hurtful savagery of the nasty little Neanderthals who troll comment boards. I appreciate the humor, the quirkiness, and, above all, the beauty. I need and so appreciate the exhortation to fun! But the real value add here is the fact of the gesture - the humor and the pure sensory delight of these inky videos.
Thank you so much for your kind words. There truly are so many more supportive people that I can't feel bad, but I sincerely wanted to explain. You are proof positive that there are a lot of kind souls out there!
I am sorry about your loss. The fact someone takes the time to criticise your is interesting. You clearly challenged the individual to initiating a response. I love your videos. They are informative and aesthetically pleasing. Please keep sharing. Thank you for posting
Thank you for your kind words. You are right, I always wonder, with all the controversies in the world, how people get so wrapped around the axle about my videos. But supportive and kind people like yourself, far far outnumber the others, that I've made my peace with it.
My condolences on the loss of your sweet little one. My own big gold girl is 14 and fading a little bit, but still happy. I am trying to prepare myself for her departure. On your videos, I find them to be very meditative and beautiful. I have other sources for information, so I watch yours for experience. Thank you for making them.
I'm sorry for the loss of your dog. A dog is a companion in life. Losing a loved companion leaves a void in your heart :( And i really love watching your pen and ink reviews, its very informative, thanks! I really love the slow mo vids of sloshing inks and tumbling ink bottles, its very beautiful.
Thank you for your lovely video and your messages full of meaning which resonate so much - I have full bottles of ink and many fountain pens - I'll use them more :)
Thank you for your kind words. If full bottles and knowing you have your pens nice and tucked away brings you joy--then that's what you should do. But if using them more brings you joy--bust them out!💕
I’m so sorry for your loss. Your input was beautiful. I hope you’re doing well. The mass majority of us absolutely enjoy your incredible filmography and knowledge on fountain pens!
I know it was some time ago but I’m sorry for the loss of your little friend. Ignore the idiots, they are to be found everywhere. I found your channel some time ago and enjoy your style greatly. Great work so keep it up and keep on smiling.
Thank you. There are so many people like you that far outweigh any negative people that I've made my peace with them. I'm thankful for subscribers like you.
Thank you for your insights and thanks for the introduction to Fountain Pen Companion. I'm currently trying to catch up on Kelli's Mountain of Ink posts before summer's end, so seeing the placements made me chuckle.
Hi Alesa!!! I just love this video so much for so many reasons. I am so sorry for your loss of your beloved dog ... but I'm glad you could share with us and now I can energetically and with words send you my love and condolences. Four legged family members are full fledged beloved beings in our house too. It is so hard when we have to say goodbye but I would not forgo the pain and miss the experience of loving them. There is so much value and joy in your videos - I could do a whole video on how much I enjoy this hobby thru the eyes of other You Tubers and bloggers like yourself. How it just helps me so much to be less serious and more individual and joyful with my inks and pens. Negative comments or even just comments that criticize non-constructively can really hurt and no one is immune ... not even the people with the largest followings and longest time doing videos/blogs. SBRE Brown has addressed this subject and been very upfront about how he feels about it. It's so interesting because I too have gotten a few comments along the lines that the only thing that matters is how the ink looks coming out of a nib .... and I too find great joy and value in how the inks look splattered, painted, water treated and blobbed .... so as in other things in life I believe deeply that if I love these things ... and if I love comparing colors and studying water resistance ... there are others who also do and will enjoy it ... although I recognize that we're all unique and different. That's why I just love what I leave this video with .... the seed of "oh hey ... I can (and do) have my own ink philosophy ... and actually bring that to my awareness, cultivate it and understand where I'm coming from and share with a better understanding of what makes me tick!!!!" Thank you for shouting out our website! It is a passion project and I just love that we're getting the participation of other inky friends and it will grow and evolve!!!!
Thank you so much for your kind words and all your support Chris. This was an unexpected benefit of starting a RUclips channel--connecting with another group of friends. It has deepened my appreciation and enjoyment of fountain pens. I gravitated toward your channel exactly because you don't limit yourself to "how the ink looks coming out of a nib". I got the materials and am actually going to make a few swatches for your website (and I never make swatches hahaha!) Best of luck with it and I'm looking forward to how it will grow and evolve!
My condolences Inky.Rocks; my wife and i are sending you a virtual hug. Don't know what else to say other than thank you for sharing glimpses of life and cool FP stuff. Be well and be safe.
I absolutely love your videos. This one may be my favorite. Having recently discovered your channel, I'm slowly working my way through all of them by watching a few every night. I do not allow comments on my channel for the very reason that there are people who think nothing of posting cruel or extremely ignorant and angry comments, which I have zero tolerance for. As an artist, the last thing I desire is to have my work become a public repository for toxicity. Thank you so much for sharing your videos with us. And, as a fellow pet owner and animal lover, I send my heartfelt condolences for the loss of your animal companion.
Thank you so much for your very lovely comment and watching all my older videos! I really try to focus on all the positives that comments bring me instead of the few strange and angry ones. This whole channel is a work in progress on trying stuff that I'm a bit afraid to hahaha!
I've stumbled upon your video 3 years after you've posted it, but I wanted to encourage you to continue the video making just the way you did so far. You have great shots, the slow motion ink drops into water, ink drops on paper... I learn a lot from your videos! Plus, I don't have to clean after the big splashes 😆
So sorry about the loss of your dog. I lost a beloved cat when I was in my mid twenties … he’d lived for 19 years. That’s almost like my younger sister. Your reviews are, not just simply utilitarian, are wonderful art. I’m sorry about the comment that upset you … that’s why I don’t put my head above the parapet … I take everything to heart. You’re very brave to make these videos and they are absolutely wonderful. I and may others are every grateful that you do.
Thank you so much for your kind words. You are right--your cat was like a sibling, known for most of your childhood. I've received more than I've put into making my videos--the fountain pen community is a really great one.
Thank you for your stunning videos and the rocks are a great combination , they are very different from other reviews and very entertaining. I am so sorry about your dog, it is one of the harderst things after having her for so long. I am going through the same at the moment with my almost 14yr old lovely dog.
I too slept on the floor with my beloved doggie...until the time came that I knew it was time to take him to the vet which is very painful to think about...so I will just go on and say, "Alesa that it is quite brilliant of you to capture peoples attention with the awe-inspiring videos of ink and then teach them something about the Truth of Life...well done and well said...yes, may we all dance and jump around the house because of the simple pleasures we can appreciate and experience."
So well said Linda. “When we go to heaven, all the pets we ever had will rush up to welcome us.” I love that quote because it implies all pets go to heaven.
Deepest sympathies for losing your beloved dog. I definitely relate - they are (or certainly should be) deeply cherished members of the family. I know this video is about 17 months old at this point, but the memory of our past pets lingers far longer. May your 2022 year be an incredible improvement over the last two years! (Currently: 12/31/2021.) Came for the inks, would like to see some of your rocks and minerals (and perhaps I'll yet find those videos), but I appreciated hearing about your dog.
Thank you so much for your kind words. We still miss her but I'm so glad she was a part of our lives. I have a video on the Tucson Gem Show you may want to watch. I went every year for about 10 years and then the pandemic happened. I missed last year and will miss the one that starts in a few weeks. Have a great 2022!
@@InkyRocks I dabbled as a *_very_* amateurish rockhound as a young Boy Scout back in the mid 60's but not much since. The rules for picking up interesting, albeit stray, rocks that happen to be careless enough to get caught seem to have changed. It seems most of them are supposed to stay where they were. Still, I did find some good ones. In fact, one nice piece of rose quartz followed me home without my knowing it (found him later in the back seat of my car) and was soon named "Fred." He followed us to cafes, heckled the waitresses in a friendly manner (generally acceptable since he always left a good tip) and pretended to drink his water - then he usually quietly rolled over and went to sleep. Yeah, I've had some weird times myself (referring to the other video I watched yesterday). Tuscon is a fun area. I visited a friend for a few days miles from anywhere but it was reasonably close to Tombstone. Great hiking/exploring! Ah, well. Fond memories invite too many words for a RUclips comment, but it seems fond memories often become sweeter when shared! Awfully nice to meet you and keep throwing those ink bottles! May 2022 be a wonderful year!
Your intentions are coming through your videos that´s one reason why they are so fun and enjoyable to watch.. I ´m a photgrapher and understand how much work it is behind. Sadly there is a lot of angry people out there who likes to spread discomfort. We need less of that and more of your videos.:)
Thank you. I enjoy the ink blooms in water and also greatly appreciated not being forced to watch more hands jesturing theatrically👍 I have just recently allowed myself to indulge in my interest of fountain pens and I do not have an income that allows me to try out all the delightful options but I can enjoy them very much through your work. I like rocks too!
You and your family have my sympathies for the loss of your beloved furry companion. May the memory of the love given and received sustain you during this time. Thank you for the ink philosophy; it's potent and powerful and I'm in full support. Along with what some might call messes, you also show us beauty in ways we wouldn't normally experience it. This video makes me want to swirl my inks in water now. Joyous beauty.
I'm so sorry about the loss of your pup. It is so hard to see our best friends decline. My lab is 13.5 yo, an old girl with hind legs that aren't working like they used to. I love your videos. Your joy paying with ink reminds me of stories about Barbara McClintock, a Nobel prize-winning geneticist, who could hardly wait to get up in the morning and go into the lab to find the next discovery. I'm also a scientist but not in the lab anymore. Fountain pens give me the opportunity to be an experimental scientist again and play ;-) I look forward to the next video.
Your video was amazing as always. I'm sorry you received a hateful comment that hit at just the wrong time. You're right in that the person who left it was probably driven by anger, although after having "grown up" in internet comment boards, I've concluded that sometimes there is no motivation or making sense of peoples' vitriol. Some people are just plain old mean. I hope it's clear to you that for every hater there are a thousand of us who love your videos, love your approach to showing off inks and fountain pens, and your "rocks." It's original and visually appealing. I appreciate your efforts greatly. I always look forward to Fridays to see your videos. Take care and thank you for everything you do for the fountain pen/ink community.
Yes, my daughter always tells me that trying to figure out people on the internet is fruitless. Thank you for your kind words and I hope I can make videos you enjoy.
Oh my dear pen friend, your puppy was a cherished member of your family. ❤️ I have always had a cat, and sometimes dogs too. About three years ago I had to say good bye to my best friend - the sweetest and most loving kitty ever. It was so hard, harder than any other. Love you and your big heart Alesa. There is no video of yours, no adventure into a fountain pen/ink situation I would not enjoy. The ink falling through water is one of the most beautiful things ever. I am contemplating the list/letter I have to write to my son to list (with pictures) the pens and inks he really must keep for my granddaughter AND who/where he can donate the rest. I am pretty sure he is going to have a few dumpsters brought to the house and dump everything I own! 😂🤣😂
And I'm so sorry about your kitty. My favorite saying is that "when you go to the gates of heaven, all the animals you have ever had will rush up to welcome you."
Found this video really thoughtful and beautiful. Don't get put down by negative comments (hard to do). But definitely, I find these videos so calming to watch and really scratches a fountain-pen / ink need especially in COVID lockdown.
I truly enjoyed your video, your reflections and the way to approach your content feels so authentic. I would love to see more videos like this, talking about the things and thoughts around the fountain pens and inks. I'm sorry for your loss. Keep uploading content! Please!
Thank you so much for your kind words. I enjoy talking about the "technical" aspects of pens as well as, like you say, the "things and thoughts" around them. I appreciate your thoughtfulness.
I love your videos, I love the clips with ink being sloshed around and the ink drops diffusing in water are dreamlike. Don’t be disheartened by someone else’s negativity. It is only one opinion.
You are such a beautiful person. I loved this video. Thanks for the great words of wisdom. You are such a fun discovery. I love stones and fountain pens too!
Oh awesome! At first I thought it was a weird combination but SO many people have said they have the same interests--so yaay us! Thank you so much for your connection and kind words💕
I firmly believe the only person anyone needs to impress is me, and you have managed to impress and entertain me. I don’t know about that other commenters beef. Honestly, the world doesn’t revolve around them (see first sentence for proof).
So sorry you lost your lovely companion. Adding beauty and art (which your videos are) adds great value to the world! Thank you for the work and thought that clearly goes into this for our enjoyment. And I do enjoy them...
What a sweet pup...always hard to say goodbye to our trusted companions. Wait! Unicorns don't exist?! :) That ink looks outstanding in the water, love the sparkle. Keep it fun, keep it "weird", your videos show the joy you find in your hobbies, and that is fun to watch.
I really love these videos. They are beautiful AND they have helped me to have a lot more fun with my inks and pens. I use them every day at work and I look at it this way: every day, even though it's a corporate job, I get to do art. Thank you for inspiring me, Alesa!
Sorry to hear about your dog, they are special friends and their presence is noticed even when they are gone. Keep up the good work, I love your slow motion ink splatters. It has motivated me to do some spillage of my own to make my journals unique! I also enjoy the cultural aspects you include into your videos. It's nice to see a culture that still has stores you can go to to look at fountain pens!
I was very sad to hear about your puppy. I enjoy your videos very much.❤ And you give a lot of information more than many others. You are kind heart God bless you ❤
I'm so sorry for your loss. I have had pets that I still grieve after half a century. They are missed every bit as much as my fur kids that have passed away more recently. I've made a deliberate decision not to have any more pets as I spend my time looking after elderly relatives now.. I don't know why people are mean spirited on social media. It was a bad time to have to deal with that when you should only have had love and support and kindness sent your way..
Thank you for your lovely words. Actually, it didn't affect me as much, as I was worried about my dog--I think that's why I was philosophical about it. But it would be a better place if we were required to think a bit before posting. Caring for elderly relatives is tough. I wish you all the best.
I'm new to your Channel and videos but LOVE all of what I've seen!!😁😁 As to your Ink Pours I live for them , the reckless abandon, shear Beauty, and brilliant colors are a real "feeling" and expression of Love for what you do. Any way that's how it makes me feel. And isn't that why anything as artistic and creative as what you do is done? My best to you and yours on the loss you have suffered I understand that this might have been sometime ago but we always find old memories are sometimes the hardest to be rid of, especially when it's a loved one. My heart goes out but I somehow feel I benefited because It motivated you to make this great video I could share in.
There are some days when I’m struggling to get a video out and wonder why I put myself thru this extra work instead of just messing with my pens and ink. This is why. Connecting with wonderful people in the community just makes my hobby a so much richer experience. Thank you for your very kind comment and reminding me why I enjoy the connection with “pen people” so much!
I'm so sorry about your sweet puppy, I know you will miss her. She had the best life with you and it was so good that she got to spend her last moments being loved. I like your philosophy and I get a lot from your videos. My pen and ink wish list certainly gets longer :-) You do you and nevermind the critics. I don't understand watching a video if you don't like it, just move on. Thanks for the links, I am going to check out Matt and Chris right now.
100% agree. i hate it when people are overly precious about their hobbies, the fountain pen community especially can get so elitist sometimes. Value comes from the act, its comes from USE, not hoarding physical objects.
That is a great quote: "Value comes from the act"!
Thank you so much Mark. It really means something to me that you enjoy my videos.
Alesa-altogether, your philosophy, your videos, and you are a delightment.
Thank you so much. I have the best subscribers.
I'm so sorry about your loss. I've lost a few furry friends also and I know how it feels. I realized that the pain I felt from their passing was the price I paid for all the love they had given me.
Absolutely. Thank you so much for your kind words.
Pets do become members of families, so losing one after so many years is difficult. My deepest sympathy to you, and yours.
They do. Thank you so much.
I'm sorry someone commented in a way that starts to squeeze the fun out of this hobby. You're putting the fun in it for the rest of us and I look forward to and enjoy your videos! Most importantly, my sincere condolences on the loss of your sweet pup, pets truly are one of the family.
Yes, they are. Thank you so much. And it means a lot that you look forward to my videos.
Thank you so much. I'm so glad you enjoy the videos.
@@yuklimka7251 I just saw this (I don't get notifications for a lot of replies). Thanks so much for your kind heart and words.
@@InkyRocks Don't worry about it. I had to say goodbye to one of my Chihuahua girls and my little void princess late last year.
Thank you so much. And it gives me great pleasure that you enjoy our hobby more!
I’m totally with you there. I use the “good china” and don’t keep anything for just “special occasions”. Glad you enjoy your pens!
Lately I find that your videos are the most enjoyable in this pen community, so please keep doing them.
Thank you so much for your kind words. This community is pretty great.
Very inspiring..... Thank you. You just reminded me to live a little.....
Thank you! Glad you got something out of this.
I am a Deacon in my church with hopes of becoming a Chaplain in time. Your words touched me deeply when you said "Anger is a result of not understanding". That is such a sage and embracing understanding you shared. I would like to add it to my toolbox of comforting words.
Thank you for taking the time to watch this! Best of luck and blessings on your journey to be a chaplain-a wonderful and worthy undertaking💕
Alesa, that commenter was flat wrong. Your videos are a delight of form and function (and fun!!) I may be just an online stranger, but I am sorry for your loss and hope that time has been kinder in the intervening months.
Thank you so much! I'm very fortunate to have the viewers that I do--like you!
I love your videos! I’m so sorry to hear about your dogs passing. Dogs are definitely family members, so it’s very hard to lose them. My condolences
Take care
Thank you so much Cynthia. I hope you enjoy the websites!
I'm sorry about your puppy. I love your videos and wouldn't want you to change anything. I'm in America with many stressing incidents going on and I have come to the fountain pen world for a place of solace. Your videos, in particular, are soothing. I love watching the ink being poured out into a glass or water. So pretty.
Thank you so much--we still miss her. Yes, there is so much going on now. I'm glad you can come here and just concentrate on the fun stuff. Thanks.
Sorry for your loss. I always enjoy your fun videos.
Thank you so much. And thanks for being a great supporter.
Alesa, my condolences to you on your sweet little Pom......Really appreciate your uniqueness and thanks for the head's up on inkswatch.com. Take care ...🐾🐾
Thank you so much. I hope you enjoy the website!
I agree wholeheartedly! Pens & Inks should be fun. Using them has brought the joy of writing to my life. I never had it previously. Now I do!
That is so wonderful! I'm glad you are enjoying our hobby!
You are right on the money. Sorry to hear of your loss. Please keep up the great videos!
Thank you very much for both your concern and your support!
So sorry to hear the loss of your dog. The connection we have with pets is amazing. And random people’s anger says more about them than you. I love your videos! Please keep them coming!
Thank you so much. It really is a pleasure that you want to want to watch my videos!
Love your feed...makes me happy. Keep going. Sorry about your dog...they’re the finest of beings.
They really are! Thank you so much for. your encouragement!
Your videos bring a lot of joy. Thanks so much for all that you do. Also, I feel sure that your dog knew she was loved which is comforting. I slept on the floor with one of my bunnies when he was dying too. It is hard that our pets don’t live as long as we do. Sending you hugs!
Thank you so much. I'm glad you enjoy my videos--the best part is the connections I've made with people. 💕
Thank you so much. You are absolutely right and it makes me very happy you get enjoyment from my work!
Inky.Rocks any recommendations for Tono and Lims that aren’t feed killers?
@@billcrabtree8700 aghh! This must be the black hole of notifications. Sorry for the late reply again! None of them are really feed killers. The combined pigment and shimmer just seemed like it would be---two challenges in one ink. Of course, any non pigment and non shimmer is the easiest on your pens. But what makes a lot of the Tono and Lims fun are their shimmer inks!
Your videos ring aloud with you philosophy and their quality is excellent.
Thanks for always being so supportive Jeff!
I am so sorry for the loss of your sweet pup. And I am sorry people need to be cruel on the internet. But I want you to know I love your videos and look forward to them being posted every week. Keep doing what you’re doing. There’s a lot of people out here who appreciate it.
Thank you so much. I hope I can continue making videos you enjoy!
Sorry to hear of your loss. But this reflective video really hit home and I’m also of the thinking of using and sharing rather than hoarding. Thanks for pushing and expanding our way of thinking...
Thank you. Wow. "Pushing and expanding our way of thinking" What a wonderful complement. Thanks!
Stumbled across your channel New Years Eve 2020 and subscribed....... Thank You for your love for the fountain pen hobby. Thank you for your efforts in sharing your passion with others. Can’t wait for more in 2021.
Thank you so much! Glad you found me!
I know the loss you are feeling! Sending love and hugs across the way.
It is a great philosophy to enjoy and use our inks! Keep enjoying yours! I know I am enjoying mine too!
Thank you so much for your kind words. I'm so glad you are enjoying your inks--it makes the whole hobby so much fun for me!
Excellent video! For the record, I am a firm believer of unicorns and will fight for that right to believe. Keep up the GREAT work!!
hahaha! I BELIEVE! So good to see an old friend.
Thank you very much 💞
Second comment having finished your video. Wonderful approach and I couldn’t agree more. Life is to short so enjoy every second and do it your way!
Seriously! It has freed me up to enjoy so much more! Thanks!
I am sorry for the loss of your furry family member. I am grateful for your videos. They are beautiful, serene, thoughtful, intelligent, informative, and humane. Be well. And thank you.
Thank you so much for your kind thoughts and your support.
Fountain pen and fountain pen ink hugs and high-fives: Thank you for all of your time, your videos... I really enjoy these RUclips snapshots; I am glad for your perspective.✌🏼🎁🎶🖋🖤
Thank you so much. And "ink high five" is now in my lexicon! I love that!
Followed a link from the Well Appointed Desk . So glad I did. Thanks for the philosophy. I'm off to splash some ink.
hahaha! Thank you so much! I'll have to check the article out!
You speak my language and confirm the voices in my head telling me to go play with my inks. 😘
Awesome! Those are good voices!
This was so beautiful. My only regret is that I didn't find you sooner.
Like you, I tend to over do good things to the point of killing them off. I'm trying to free myself and surrender to the play. Thank you for your jotful reminders.
And sending a virtual hug on the loss of your sweet friend. I know all too well what that's like ❤️
Thank you so much for your kind words. I certainly can overdo things and I have to be on guard against it!
I love your honesty and your artsy channel. I love rewatching your videos over and over, they are that good. I am sorry you are in pain and it is admirable that you are refocusing on reflection instead of retaliation. Take care of yourself and please continue to enjoy your inks any way you like. 😊
Thank you very much for your kind words. I like that: "enjoy your inks any way you like!"
Thanks for the shout out! Also, I do love your videos, they're just so different and much more fun than the others. Keep it up!
Thanks Urban!
Am dreaming of all the sights and pens already.
fantastic vid, A. Rock on. You do you, all the way to the gate, and beyond.
Thank you. And thanks for always being so supportive!
I come back to this video of yours whenever my soul needs to be soothed with peace and joy, Thanks a lot!
Thank you so much for your lovely comment. I needed it today 💕
Thank you so much for your kind words. They really are great websites. And thanks for always being so supportive!
Ps. I love your message to 'use ink' 🙂👍
Thank you so much. Please give your "big gold girl" a couple of big hugs for me.
20 years of being cute, oh well, it’s lived a good life and brought a lot of memories 😊
She did. Glad I had her in my life 😊
I'm sorry for the loss of your dog. A dog is a companion in life. Losing a loved companion leaves a void in your heart :( And i really love watching your pen and ink reviews, its very informative, thanks! I really love the slow mo vids of sloshing inks and tumbling ink bottles, its very beautiful.
Thank you so much. I miss my buddy. I'm glad you enjoy the inks--they make me happy!
I am so sorry for your loss. Losing a pet is hard. Thank you for sharing.
Thank you so much for your kind words. It's been about a year now and I still miss her.
Thank you so much for your kind words. Take care.
Inky.Rocks of course. You too!
Thank you. You are so right--catching up will be a lot!
I can (and do) have my own ink philosophy ... and actually bring that to my awareness, cultivate it and understand where I'm coming from and share with a better understanding of what makes me tick!!!!"
Thank you for shouting out our website!
Very insightful, the habit of taking the fun away from the things you enjoy is very real, and we sometimes do these without realizing
Absolutely. I have to regularly remind myself of that.
My condolences Inky.Rocks; my wife and i are sending you a virtual hug. Don't know what else to say other than thank you for sharing glimpses of life and cool FP stuff. Be well and be safe.
Thank you so much. I appreciate your kind words. Take care.
Hahaha! Absolutely-I’ll do the cleanup! Thanks so much for your very kind words.
Thank you for your very kind words. Please give your dog some extra hugs for me. And please take care of yourself.
(Currently: 12/31/2021.)
Came for the inks, would like to see some of your rocks and minerals (and perhaps I'll yet find those videos), but I appreciated hearing about your dog.
We need less of that and more of your videos.:)
hahaha! Thank you so much. As a photographer, I'm sure you can see my mistakes and I appreciate your support.
Awesome! I hope to making more videos starting this week. We had a death in the family and I took a couple of months off. Thanks!
@@InkyRocks so sorry for your loss❤️ I know I'll enjoy the new videos when you are ready.
Thank you for your kind words. I'm truly thankful that I get to share my pens and ink with some really great people.
I like the way you think. And much love to you on the loss of your dog. It's so hard to lose them...
Thank you! It really is--she was my daughter's dog and I, of course, "inherited" her. My first dog, and she certainly widened my world.
Thank you so much. Please continue to experiment and play. And give your "old girl" a giant hug for me!
Thank you for sharing with us your reflections on your hobby and your ink collection in interesting ways!
Thank you so much! I'm lucky to have a great community to share with!
Pretty sure I wasn’t expecting a video about fountain pen ink to make me cry but here we are
Using fountain pen ink is a multipurpose analogy for a lot of things in my life. Thanks for watching 😊
I'm sorry to hear about your dog Alesa. Those little guys sure become special parts of our families. And thanks for the reminder to have fun.
Thank you--they sure do.
Thank you for kind words. That is such a good idea on the list!
And I'm so sorry about your kitty. My favorite saying is that "when you go to the gates of heaven, all the animals you have ever had will rush up to welcome you."
Inky.Rocks You know thoughts of her always bring tears. I will look forward to seeing her at the gates of heaven. 😊🥰
Found this video really thoughtful and beautiful. Don't get put down by negative comments (hard to do). But definitely, I find these videos so calming to watch and really scratches a fountain-pen / ink need especially in COVID lockdown.
Thank you so much! I'm trying to do more videos where people don't feel the need to buy, buy, buy!
Thank you. Yes, I shouldn't focus on the few but uplifted by the many kind people in this community.
Yours is one of my favorite RUclips channels. Keep doing what you do!
Thank you so much! 💖
Honestly, the world doesn’t revolve around them (see first sentence for proof).
hahaha! I've impressed Justin, so everyone else can just buzz off. Thanks!
So sorry you lost your lovely companion. Adding beauty and art (which your videos are) adds great value to the world! Thank you for the work and thought that clearly goes into this for our enjoyment. And I do enjoy them...
Thank you. It really gives me great pleasure at the idea of you enjoying my videos!
Thank you. I know! How can there not be unicorns and yet there is unicorn blood?
I really love these videos. They are beautiful AND they have helped me to have a lot more fun with my inks and pens. I use them every day at work and I look at it this way: every day, even though it's a corporate job, I get to do art. Thank you for inspiring me, Alesa!
Oh, what a wonderful attitude! I've not thought of it that way--as a way of inserting art into your job. Thanks so much Michael!
@@InkyRocks You helped me make that connection! Keep on creating beauty through your outstanding and super-informative videos!
I love your philosophy and also your beautiful videos. Thank you for all your creative work.
Thank you so much! I appreciate your kind words.
Thank you so much. "Ink Spillage" may have to be a concept/word I need to incorporate in my videos!
I was very sad to hear about your puppy. I enjoy your videos very much.❤
And you give a lot of information more than many others.
You are kind heart
God bless you ❤
Thank you so much for your very kind words. I'm glad you enjoy the videos. God bless you too!
The dog moved on its natural life course. It still HURTS. I'm sorry for your loss. Thank you for sharing your intimate story's with us.
Yes, she did. Thank you for your understanding words.
This is something I really neeed to learn to do and I admire you for it.
Thank you! Just thinking about it puts you halfway there. Take care.
Thank you Jackie! Always great to hear from you. I hope you enjoy the website!
I think I've found my next greens using their inkswatch site.

It IS a handy site!
I always enjoy your RUclips channel. Thank you.
Thank you so much!
