- Generally, replacing screen will not affect the normal use of face ID. However, we have got some feedback from our customers and fans that iPhone X face ID failed after screen replacement. Therefore we guess the problem is caused by improper operations during the repair, which results in the damage of flex cables or other components. Do you clean flux off flood illuminator after or too risky?
I have had an issue with my iphone x after replacing my screen, i was struggling for months no fault no where. I put my iphone into DFU mode a deeper process than a actual factory reset and it worked. it will restore your phone and download the current ios again. Not sure if it will work for everyone but it definitely worked for me.

When i try to remove the flood illuminator from the flex cable the plastic begins to melt before I can unsolder it. If I lower the temperature I can't unsolder it. I don't understand.

i have an issue with my Face id on iPhone X
the problem is it keeps saying (move your head a little higher/ position your face inside the square) but nothing happens after
i checked the 2 dots and they are there and working, i checked the flood illuminator by calling and the screen went black which means it's also working, i checked the portrait for the front camera and it also worked, everything in the phone works perfectly, but i should mention that the Display is Damaged and contains a green lines from the left side, could that be a reason for why the face id isn't working, or just my face id died and that's it?

for me face ID sometimes stops working when there is an IOS update that i need to do. or for some reason i need to reboot. Then it starts working again.. but during the or after the december 2022 updates.. as of now, it is still not working.

Just helping to answer your question. No, you can't because the flex cable has a specific code to the motherboard. This one is similar like when you demage your touch ID flex cable in iphone 5s, you can not repalce it with another flex cable. But you need to fix the demage one.

1. We applied 240℃ Celsius with our heat gun.
2. The temperature of Soldering Iron is about 330℃~350℃ Celsius.
3. The Flood Illuminator Module we used is a new one, so we do not need to tin the pads.

Hernan Narcisi You have to use the same Flood Illuminator to get the FaceID working properly. What he broke was the flex, so basically he took the original flood illuminator and put it in a new flex. Only people that I know that use different flood illuminators are Apple guys, their screens come with the whole front thing, they program it for the iPhone that it’ll use and let it go 👌🏻

The flood illuminator on the earpiece speaker flex cable is part of the Face ID security feature and therefore it also should be the original one.

at 7:02 the flex was bit burned by the soldering machine, wouldn't that affect connectivity?
You can do damage to the plastic casing as long as the traces are intact. It's not enough to affect the copper inside.

The flood illuminator on the earpiece speaker flex cable is part of the Face ID security feature and therefore should be the original one.
If the Face ID failure is caused by the earpiece speaker flex cable, you can replace the earpiece speaker flex cable and transplant the original flood illuminator module to the new flex cable.
