Hi Jordan & Breck, another lovely sunny day. WOW!! I never knew that about his wife having a premonition about the accident, how tragic though that she lost the baby. What a nice little house he grew up in and a lovely gravestone to a legend. Great vlog Jordan.
Was just in Lubbock this past weekend. Amazing experience. The people who own his childhood home now were having a yardsale so I got to go in the yard and talk to them.
Very well done Jordan. You always cover vlogs with class. Instead of ranting on and on about the lack of ability to take photos in the museum, you painted a picture with your words. You always manage to create a vlog that captivates and inspires. I have never seen "The Buddy Holly Story" but have been a fan of the music for years. My wife and I will now have to check it out. AWESOME VLOG!! I saw Dion and the belmonts last year and he spoke about Buddy Holly. How he knew him and worked with him. He was amazed how Buddy's mind worked. For a guy his age. He was always thinking and Dion felt back then that he was way ahead of his time. I felt very sad when he spoke about Buddy Holly. We will never know how far he would of gone. RIP BUDDY HOLLY
I went to Buddy Holly’s middle school and high school. At Lubbock High, I had a class in the same classroom that Buddy Holly was in during his school years. I also set foot on the school’s auditorium stage many times, which Buddy’s band performed during talent shows. Lubbock will always love and remember Buddy Holly!
Buddy was actually a pretty good looking dude, with straight teeth, not goofy looking as Busey portrayed him, with big teeth... Buddy also played lead guitar, which was overlooked.
That was such a lovely story about how Buddy fell in love but had to ask her aunt out for a date, really loved listening about Buddy's life, sadly a short one but deffinatly one which his music will always keep his memory alive, Thankyou Jordan x
The only thing I can say about Buddy besides being great is this. My father who is now 93 years of age, had the pleasure meeting Buddy in Calgary Alberta . My father happened to be at a house party that Buddy came to and I have been jealous ever since of my dads great fortune!
Jordan: Your Lubbock video was excellent, and kudos on the camera work; you do very well with the camera. So many people pan the camera too fast and one cannot see anything. I am glad to learn about Jerry Allison's house being saved. That museum was not there in 1996 when I went around the Buddy Holly sights. I am going to tell you some history, as I have studied Buddy Holly for years and live in Clovis NM - we are in Lubbock frequently because our medical care is there and it was a day in 1996 that I dropped my wife at the Southwest Plains Shopping Mall and went around the Buddy Holly sites - I want to point out a few things that you missed, and if you ever return, I will point out the places you missed and might want to add to your video. I would be happy to show you around, should you desire. Here is the information. 1. The house: Yes the house in your video is the final house Buddy lived in Lubbock and got married to Maria Elena there. It is not the house where Buddy spent his childhood or was born at. The site for that house was on 4th Street, which is now an empty lot with a sign by the City of Lubbock verifying that the house Buddy lived in was on the site. Due to an accidental overlooking at records, the City Of Lubbock sold the house to someone, not being aware of the historical significance of the house (or they would not have sold it) and the house was moved somewhere outside the Lubbock City Limits. To this day, no one knows where the house is located. They Jerry Allison house, now at the museum, was on 6th street when I saw it. I read it was demolished - that is why I was so glad that I saw the house in your video and can affirm that is the same house I saw in its original location. Thank God, it was saved. 2. Tabernacle Baptist Church (on 34th Street)...this is the church Buddy and his family were members of and attended. His funeral was held there with over 1500 people inside. I looked at the outside, looking in and thought "NO WAY that place could hold that many people - not even half. I went inside and the receptionist showed me around. She said the front looks exactly as it did when the funeral was held. The church was much larger in 1959 and was remodeled to take 3/4 of the pews out and build Sunday School classes. And yes, Paul McCartney visited the church as well. It is worth it to stop there and talk to the people who will tell you what they told me. 3. The Lindsey Theater: It was in the older downtown Lubbock area - when I saw it, it was in very poor condition, having been looted by vandals. Buddy Holly attended this theater often. In the 2000's, the theater because a nuisance and the city had it demolished. 4. The Funeral Home: It still has the look, armored shield and name as it did when Buddy Holly was brought here. It is near the Lindsey Theater. 5. The Roller Rink: The building that housed the Roller Rink, which is a red brick building is still there. It was going to be torn down, but the City of Lubbock saved it. Buddy and the (future) Crickets played there, and introduced their songs to the young crowds skating around. It is in the old downtown section. A few yards to the left was the local diner, called Hi-Dee-Ho, where Buddy and his group climbed on the roof and played to the crowd. it is no longer there. 6. The High School (19th Street). Yes, this is the high school Buddy attended. In the summertime when school is not in session (May through August), one can go inside the high school - see one of the actual classrooms Buddy attended and the desk he sat in. Also on display are some other Buddy memorophelia - his jackets, a wallet and other things. It is worth a stop to go inside. 7. Radio Station KDAV: Although there is a radio station with those call letters in Lubbock, the ORIGINAL KDAV station (which goes by other call letters) was the place where Buddy and Hi-Pockets Duncan formed their group "Buddy Holley and Hi-Pockets Duncan - Country and Bop. The production room looks exactly the same as it did when Buddy was there. The staff for the current station in that building has friendly people who would be happy to show you around and answer any questions about Buddy. I always wondered what part of Lubbock was the original KDAV in? To my surprise, I learned years later that it is only two blocks from the motel that I stayed in. The highway in front of the station will take you to the Lubbock Cemetery - which you have already seen. I have to see the Buddy Holly Museum, but I will see it when it re-opens after the COVID-19. I hope some of this information has helped you - as you know Kenneth Broad owns the Norman Petty Studios - the mixing console in there (called a "board" in radio terms, is NOT the original - a few years ago the City Of Clovis built the Norman Petty Studio, which I understand has some Buddy Holly things inside and I believe it contains the very small board that was in the Petty Studios on 7th Street when Buddy was there. Keep up the good work. If you are on Facebook, let me know and I will contact you. I think you live in Los Angeles area - I lived in California for over 50 years! abner
Ive seen this video before but its been a long while ago. Today we ended up driving through Lubbock in an unplanned stop while on a road trip. I couldnt pass it up so we took a quick cruise by the Buddy Holly Center without going inside. I did however go out and paid my respects at his gravesite in the city cemetery. Seeing those two places was a huge bucket list item for me! I had to watch this vid again not only bc Jordan is the best but I also wanted a refresher of what was on display at the BHC that i had missed. Seeing J.I. Allison's old house was exciting in itself!! Love to you Jordan and thanks for all you do! Pet Jah for me 😊 -❤Traci Johnson Francisco
My mother was a huge Buddy Holly fan. Thanks to her, I also became a fan. Your vlogs are always a pleasure to watch. Thank you for all of your great work.

I found out who Buddy was through watching La Bamba💙 gosh he was talented. So sad and such a tragedy losing him and the others who were taken from that plane crash💔 great vlog Jordan! I'll be sharing this
The day that Rock and Roll began and not the day the music died. Without Holly we wouldnt have so many great groups today like the beatles and the stones etc. Music lives because of Buddy Holly.
Jordan, you did a fantastic tribute. Thanks for sharing one of your dream goals. Watch that Texas sun, it kicking Brecks butt and you're starting to look a little medium rare.
Jordan, you picked the perfect vlog for me. I love Buddy Holly and that era of music! Very special to me and thrilled to see how special it was for you. Added bonus, I have family in Lubbock! 😎😎😎😘😘😘🤩🤩🤩
Very enjoyable look at Buddy's life of in Lubbock, Texas! You're doing exactly what I wish I could do! I retired last year from Disneyland and, and for 30 years prior, I got to know the history of Hollywood Forever, Westwood Memorial Park, etc. I appreciate what you're doing, young Jordan...!
Coming from a family of musicians, we always appreciated to impact Buddy Holly’s music had. Every Feb 3rd, “the day the music died”, we always put on Buddy Holly music and watch the Gary Busey movie of Buddy Holly. Here in NY you can head down to the Village (Greenwich Village) not far from the entrance to Washington Square and stand outside the building with the apartment he had lived in for a short time with Maria Elena (like the one represented in the movie). Keith Richards also has an apartment a few buildings down. Great video.
Hey Jordan, you should stop by Kansas City as you pass through the Midwest. Birthplace of Charlie Parker. Harry Truman House in Independence. Lots of Jazz and baseball history.
I have been a life long Buddy Holly fan. I wrote to the family and said my favorite Buddy song was Maybe Baby. They sent me a nice Christmas card which I still have.
LOVED this vlog!!! Ty for taking us along, I cannot wait for the interview. I love all the personalizations and uniqueness you put into all your vlogs, so interesting, I didn't know anything about him, and taking us by the house where they recorded is so awesome!! ty!
I grew up in Lubbock Texas from the 70's-the 90's I miss living in Lubbock, I remember one time my parents took me and my siblings to the civic center and they had the crickets playing it was a sock hop. I'm a huge buddy Holley fan I've seen his grave also. Can you imagine how many people pass by his former house and the house where him and the crickets practiced in the garage and not knowing that is where it all began.
My Dad said he cried his eyes out that day... and let's just say I've never seen the guy cry over anything. Also, the day Elvis died there were some tears. My Pops had Elvis sideburns throughout the 1980's. Like alot of our Dads I'm sure. Thanks, fellas!
I saw Buddy Holly right before he pasted ......in Green Bay Wisconsin with the big bopper I was in high school and it was something to see ....for the 60's
I was there like a month after you!! I couldn’t stop singing “That’ll Be the Day” and “Everyday it’s a getting Closer”. I lived in Houston and Katy, TX for many, many years and I’m surprised I never visited Lubbock until June-July 2019! Better late than never, I guess!
Dang I love looking over your shoulder on these trips with you. Looking forward to more to come! I think you should be carrying the “Road to...” moniker like Bob Hope and Bing Crosby did!
I am a really big fan of Buddy Holly, first time I ever heard my name, besides it being my name, when I heard the song, Rave On. He will always have a place in my heart. One time, came close to the crash sight, but unfortunately never actually made it to the sight.
Jordan the Lion, ''Welcome to Texas'''!! My Father was actually born in Lubbock Texas and later moved to Amarillo Texas while graduating from Palo Duro High School in 1958 in Amarillo and now lives with me in Corpus Christi Texas at age 80-years Old and still Drives while helping me drive him to his High School Class Reunion of 60-years last August 16,2018😉🤠
I remember what my family was doing when we heard on the stereo that he just crashed in the plane with other great entertainers. Rock and Roll. My family all cried.
I never knew she lost the baby..That's really sad. She probably didn't go to his service for that reason. Good vlog Jordan 😎🌻🕊 If there's a rock and roll heaven ..
Very cool tribute, Jordan. I was born and raised in Lubbock and my stepdad grew up with Buddy and went to school with him and knew him fairly well. You're right, too. His music still sounds great. He was amazing. I hope you got to go to the Norman Petty Studio in Clovis. It's worth checking out and really brings the music to life.
I thoroughly enjoyed this video of Buddy. I learned a lot. The statue and museum was very nice and educational. The statue was awesome, wonderful likenesses. Thank u
Thanks for bringing back some memories for me. I visited the same places you were in back in the late 80s. Me and my grandfather went there on a trip to see my uncle and his family in Colorado. It was very much like you pictures it. Somewhere there is a picture of me standing in front of the statue of Buddy. I didnt go to his gravesite because back then I just wasnt into the whole gravesite thing. But I do remember going to the statue. Of course that was long before the death of Waylon. Hell that was even before Johnny had died. I remember going to see the Buddy Holly Story in the theater way back when my mom used to take me to the mall and drop me off and pick me up several hours later...that was a summer trip hehe.
Just the greatest music and so much fun to play on guitar! Can hardly wait for the next vlog with Buddy's backup singer!👍🏻Just the best road trip, Jordan!

If you get the chance, head down to Beaumont, TX, and visit the grave of The Big Bopper. And if you're anywhere near DeKalb County in Texas, then go and see the tail of the plane Ricky Nelson died in.
a few years ago when i lived in ft.myers florida i had a chance to go see a musical called the buddy holly story for free. the night before the show started at the broadway palm theater i met the four that played buddy and the the three crickets and the best thing about the show they all played the instruments and sang the songs live and on top of it i have my ex-wife and our son Cody lives in Lubbock texas.

Buddy Holly was just a great singer. His music lives on.
Awesome vlog loved Buddy's music and Gary Busey should of gotten the Academy Award.
Joshua Waltz When Gary met the Holly family they all said it was uncanny how much he reminded them of Buddy.
My grandma graduated from high school with Gary Busey.
Thank you for visiting the hometown's of 2 of my rock 'n roll heros!🎸🎸 Love Buddy, Roy and of course Elvis!

Awesome vlog. Thanks for highlighting our fantastic Texas musicians.
There is a lot in Texas!
Loved this one! I listen to Buddy Holly radio on Pandora all the time. The museum is now on my bucket list. Thanks for this one. 😎🎵🎶🎵🎶
This was more than a vlog. It was a tribute - thanks Jordon, well done!❤️
😎😎 I remember the news bulletin when It came over our little B&W TV
I loved this Vlog. You did an amazing job covering his whole life. Also wonderful that Lubbock had so many tributes to Buddy, and the museum.
My Uncle and my Aunty got me into Buddy Holly! He’s still timeless in his music.
My mother was a huge Buddy Holly fan. Thanks to her, I also became a fan. Your vlogs are always a pleasure to watch. Thank you for all of your great work.
Rave On and Not Fade Away are two of my favorite songs. Great vlog, thanks and take care, Jordan!
I found out who Buddy was through watching La Bamba💙 gosh he was talented. So sad and such a tragedy losing him and the others who were taken from that plane crash💔 great vlog Jordan! I'll be sharing this
@wayne pitty 👼🙏
I absolutely adored his music. THANK YOU
Loved this video I was only one year old when he died but heard his music the whole time growing up.
Yessir...I’ll agree with a previous poster, absolutely killing it on these road vlogs
Great video! I grew up listening to Buddy...still do! his music is timeless!
Loved it!
❤
I used to live in Lubbock! It’s a great town! My friends own Woodrow House B&B across the street from Texas Tech!
Love the vlog, and Jordan and JAH. And I love the great state of Texas. ❤️🌹🕊🐕
I love all the personalizations and uniqueness you put into all your vlogs, so interesting, I didn't know anything about him, and taking us by the house where they recorded is so awesome!! ty!
A great video and tribute to a super talented musician. Buddy Holly was the favourite band of my still living cousin Sandy in England.
I was born in Lubbock texas. Lubbock is very close to my heart
This was my Dad's favorite musical singer thanks for sharing my Dad died in February he would have like this video. Thank You
Awesome vlog, now that’s a Rock N Roll🎸🎶🎶🎶🎶
This is in my top 10 favorite vlogs you've done!!!!😍😍😍
Love Buddy Holly! His music is eternal. Thank you again for an awesome vlog!
He is a legend ! lovely vlog Jordan thank you so much . :-)
I have always loved Buddy Holly. Thank so much for this vlog💙
Jordan the Lion,
''Welcome to Texas'''!!
I was at Lubbock Texas in 1983 and enjoyed all about. Him and his grave and the song the day the music died
I never knew she lost the baby..That's really sad. She probably didn't go to his service for that reason. Good vlog Jordan 😎🌻🕊 If there's a rock and roll heaven ..
Buddy Holly, my hero my favorite song maybe baby rest in peace.❤️
So much lost......so much left behind. Thanks for the tour. No other words...😭
My first time driving for driver's Ed I was directed to drive to Buddy Holly's grave. Spent my teenage years is good ole Lubbock. Miss the wide roads there.
This was a truly touching blog, brought tears to my eyes at least a few times.
Buddy just wanted his music to be heard and loved and it is and always will be
Jordan you are the best my friend, thank you for doing this piece on buddy ( my hero),you haven’t done a bad vlog I have enjoyed everything you do,keep up the good work ,if possible when I’m in Hollywood maybe you can show me round ,take care J
Thank you so much. I'm a big Buddy Holly fan. I enjoyed this alot. GOD BLESS YOU 😇
I was 10 yrs old when he died. Will never forget that day.
One of the places I've wanted to go to for a long time now. Great vlog. Love the big black glasses. I loved this. Thank you for taking us here. Another wonderful performer. Waylon always felt guilty about what happened. Safe travels you two and take care.
Hi Guys! This Was Fantastic!! I Learned A Lot More Information From You Than What I Had Read....Thank You..Loved It!!!! Be Safe!
That was a very nice tribute . Tastefully , and well done ..thanks for sharing this legend with us .
