    You are so smart to have a tutorial for your designs for newer knitters. It allows us to have courage to knit something beyond our skill level!

    Oh my God, thank you for this! Crocheting lace is easy but knitting it is so hard since there are so very few good tutorials on it. Just what I needed, God bless you 💖.

    • @chica7144
      @chica7144 Год назад +11

      I can say from experience: it's not as hard as it looks! The hardest thing about knitting lace is that you need to concentrate a bit more when knitting this. All the special stitches are very feasible and if you don't understand one or the terms confuse you: there are so many resources online! I learned everything from youtube and I actually made this Love Letter Top (I got to test it) and it looks so nice ☺

      Das Top gefällt mir gut, aber wie das Stricken im tutorial gezeigt wird, finde ich furchtbar und sieht auch sehr umständlich aus. Muster zu stricken erfordert einfach Konzentration, mehr nicht!

    I thought that The Love Letter was pretty when I first laid my eyes on it, but I thought that this would take too long to make. Well, I decided to make it anyway, and I have no regrets. I did underestimate the length and had to add on to it after completing Chart D of the pattern. Needless to say, my Love Letter top looks slightly different, but I actually LOVE it!!! I wore it so proudly today 😊❤

    @Kutovakika I think there is an error in the gauge explanation around minute 6:39. You mentioned your gauge is 20 st for 4 in. You then mentioned if someone got 22 st instead of 20, that means they knit looser. And you also mentioned if they got 18 that means they knit tighter than you. I think it is the other way around. If they got 22 st instead of 20, that means they knit tighter than you. Vice versa with the 18 st. Just want to make sure newer knitters are not confused from the explanation in the video about gauge. Gauge is important.

    I am a new knitter and made one of your tops after purchasing the pattern. I practiced with an inexpensive yarn and larger needles in order to practice the techniques. I love this top, so I bought the pattern and I will practice, practice, practice, before using the yarn for the real thing.

    This is so beautiful. Would you consider a variation for us ladies who need a bit more coverage for the arms. Maybe a cap sleeve?

    • @terryhuffaker3615
      @terryhuffaker3615 4 месяца назад

      Make the original pattern for a daughter or niece and then you can make a larger size with your own personally designed cap sleeves.
      Asking a designer to create a pattern for your own specific needs will not pay the designer for the hours she will need to put into into your personal request.

    After being blown away by your wedding dress video I just had to make this. What a great summer top! So, I counted the rows and figured out that 2 rows a day(I have other knitting to "get done") would bring me to summer. And how fun to knit this "with" Kika?! I turned on the video yesterday and now my plan is ruined. I can't put it down! Oh well, I could have bigger problems. 🤣

    I think the gauge goes the other way around... if my sample has more stitches per 10cm I should use a bigger needle. Sorry to be pointing that out... Your work is the BEST and I love everything you knit! I bought some of your patterns and they are perfect. Congrats! Keep it up! You are creating a better world with your art!

    • @sarahjanewheatley5472
      @sarahjanewheatley5472 Год назад +2

      Yes, I agree with you. If you have more stitches in your gauge sample it means that you knit tighter than the recommended gauge and should therefore go up a needle size.

    You are now my #1 designer! I just started knitting to patterns in 2022. I'm obsessed with your designs. I literally am just finishing you Sailor Swift Top, I started the StripeHype dress but it's too big (I joined in the round, tried it on, and it's too big - but I haven't frogged it yet), I started the StripeHype Sweater instead, and now I want to knit THIS. Just gorgeous. Buying it now, but will TRY to be patient and finish the other 2 first. I've never used a chart to knit, but this tutorial gave me the confidence to give it a try. Huge thanks to all the time, effort and work you put into making the tutorial for all of us newbies ;-)

    I'm confused - when explaining gauge, you say 'when you have 22 stitches instead of 20, it means you're knitting looser and you'll have to choose a smaller needle'. But when you have more stitches within the 10 cm, it means you're knitting tighter, right? Which means you need a bigger needle, not a smaller one. So exactly the other way around. Or am I mistaken here?

    Hey there. What a beautiful top you have created. I am wondering however if I - as you say - am knitting looser if I squeeze 22 stitches into the gauge instead of 20? Isn't my gauge actually tighter if I have more stitches? 😕 I do actually get confused with gauge so please don't mind. I love your videos and your patterns anyway. ❤I have actually knitted my very first sweater based on your Sunday Brunch Sweater and it turned out great even though I turned it into a top down raglan.... 🙂 Have a great day!

      yes, in that case you're actually knitting tighter than the gauge requires. I think she mixed it up in the video. I tend to knit tighter (get more stitches in my gauge swatch) than Kika in her projects and patterns, so I always go 0.5mm up in needle size for needles sized 2.5mm-4mm and 1mm up for needles sized 4.5mm or higher. So for this pattern, you need to be working with 3.5mm needles and 3mm for the hem and i-cord edges. Hope that helps!

      Oh gosh I’m so sorry if I got it mixed up in the video 🙀😅 Yes iff you’ve got 22 sts then you are knitting tighter and should go up a needle size 😀👍🏼

    Can’t wait to do it! Pattern bough, yarn in place :) now the boring gauge swatch and I’m starting. I wander if it would look good with i-cord at the hem as well. Will probably test this option because I love I-cord

    Love this! The only thing I got a little confused on was your guidance on gauge (gauge always challenges my slow math mind) if I have too many stitches doesn’t that mean I’m knitting tighter and then wouldn’t I switch to a larger needle (or try to relax a bit)? I’m usually on the tighter side and I think I solved it in the past with bigger needles. I always get this part mixed up and have to do a little trial and error.

      Yes you’re logic is correct I got it mixed up in the video I’m so sorry 😅🙀 Sometimes when filming and after talking for a long time the words het mixed up and I can’t believe I didn’t spot my mistake in the editing, I’m so sorry for the confusion 😬
