Man o man! I’ve been wanting/needing to do this! I agree, I dislike the clear look of these. How many counts of red paint did you apply? Looks great 👍🏼 thanks!

Glad you like the video! I put 2 coats of paint, the more you put the darker it will get after that.

Looks great, only thing I'd suggest is that you put some clear coat on top so they don't fade again. I previously had black nightshades on my dark grey 2nd gen sedan and it looked great with the other black accents I have. Sadly I had to remove it as I got a fine and a defect notice for it, since tinted tail lights are apparently illegal in Australia, so I'm debating whether I should make them red. Mine being the LED tail lights are almost entirely clear, and look super ugly with the colour scheme I'm going for.

Last time I painted them I put clear coat on them thinking the same thing, but it still faded I don't know if it made them last longer I guess we'll see this time lol. Tinted tail lights are illegal in my neighbor province QC and people get puller over with the black VHT nightshade. If you do it red like I did, with the gap for the back up lights, the tail light looks OEM, I feel like the officer would have a hard time realizing the tail lights have been tinted and are not just factory red. 👍

You should do a before and after of the lights on and see if it affects visibility of the turn signals! Personally I think the red turn signals are very dim already I am afraid it might be even harder for others to see now!

@@tt-nm4yj I’d have to leave a clear window for them, as rear turn signals legally have to be amber in Australia, so light output would be no different. I have LEDs in them, so they’re already super bright anyway.

This is the problem w the english language. People take ‘should’ve’ and think it says ‘should of’
