This is probably the best video so far on YT about FASS. Too many install vids to weed through and other idiots who don't show anything and call it a repair video. the same stuff you said you didn't know about it, I didn't know either. Did the bad O ring cause it to leak at all? Mine won't prime the new filters like it used to. This might just be the issue.
Yes they did help but the o ring behind the gear in the motor housing was also bad. Fass offered to repair and replace everything. But my blocks and hoses were in bad shape, so I just ordered an entire new unit and the truck is running better than ever, well at least it starts now lol. But it's worth a shot give them a call and they can send you the o rings you need. I tried sourcing o rings threw my collection and the napas collection down the road but could find anything that was a perfect fit
Thanks man! I appreciate that! I always try to find what exactly isn't working. I had someone bring me a car because the garage told them they would have to pull her motor to replace the water pump. Told her number 1 you don't have to pull the motor to replace it and number 2 your timing belt run the pump. Your car wouldn't be running right now. They wanted to charge her 2 grand. I fixes it for her for 10$ !! Thermostat stuck shut. 5 minute fix
Dude. Thanks a ton for posting this up. I have a brand new fass 165 titanium pump that is hard priming and it picks up air from somewhere. I have narrowed it down to the seals that you point out. I will call fass to confirm. Thanks again
Thanks for the heads up on those o-rings! If you reseal the old pump use Molykote 55 o-ring grease!! just a light coat and you'll be amazed how much longer o-rings last! I've not had a o-ring fail/leak in years since I started using it. (probably just jinxed myself)
Some of those techs really know their stuff. I called a few 'techs' and some just provide part numbers to buy a new part. The o-rings appear to be sunken into the groove more rather than showing cracks and fraying. Cool you hooked it up to a battery like your Frankenstein project or something.
It was very nice to actually talk to someone who knows what they are talking about. But yeah that's what I was thinking because when the two plates touch you can feel the o ring touch at all. Most people would scrap the entire pump instead of just replacing a o ring
Been having the same issue everything in change the filters!! Its like playing Russian roulette to get it to prime or not. Now its sitting broke down in the garage because it won't prime at all. Guess I'll b checking this next
I tried changing all the o rings in mine and sealing it up real good and nothing! I put a new lift pump on and it's been working amazing... sucks to pay 700$ but beats a new truck payment 🤷♂️
thanks for the video I feel like my pump might be doing the same thing .. going to change filters going to look into this... how long did you have pump before replacing ?
It was on there when I got the truck so it had to be on there for a very long time. I was able to find one on sale for around 600$ to keep the ole girl running for many more miles
Sounds like you have it wired in the wrong location. Like its wired to the starter. You can look up online 4 whatever vehicle you have to see what fuse only has power when the key is on the " on" position. Then just tap into that fuse
I have that issue on and off but now I’m not priming my truck starts and runs but my fuel pressure drops down but at idle it’s fine what did u do to get back to priming
You have to have a power wire from a switch as well to tell the relay to turn on. I have mine wired to the fuse box so when the key is on the on position it has power. Did this help or do you already have it wired that way
All it takes is just a little air loss and they stop working, I thought the same thing. The guys at fass are the best people I ever talk to, he stayed on the phone with me for over a half hour. But if you call them they can send you o rings or you can send your unit there and they can rebuild it for you. Cant remember how much it cost for a rebuild, want to say 200 or 400$
I ended getting a new one. Just couldnt get it to seal right and I found one on sale. It's been working great since. I recommend a fuel pressure gauge, that way if something happens you will know right away
@@GearsAndGuns Just got done taking it apart, bearing on pump side of motor went out, rotor rubbed on housing blowing that 30A fuse, it sucks that Fass doesn’t sell just the motor. 🤷♂️

Hope it helps!!. Till this day, they have been the most helpful company. I talked to a pure blooded American for over a half hour.
Where have you been getting air, because I’ve been getting the same issue

Lol hopefully not. Yeah man thanks for the info! I'll definitely try that next time I get into something like this 👍❤🇺🇸

Do you know the size of the O-ring?

Mine is making the lines like a vacume it’s weird. Stalls after. I prime it then. It’s good then does the same thing. New filters new lines
I just filled the filter with diesel, screwed it back on, no issues.
@@robertchaney7766 true. I think my sending unit is fucked
Did you end up figuring the issue out?

great fix Gears!!!!
The problem I’m having is that when I put my key to the on position my fass isn’t priming but when I crank the truck the fass turns on

I just installed a new pump and I have power everywhere except the 85 terminal on the relay. The pump has yet to come on and im not sure why

Thankyou I think this is my problem. Dont know why this oring would go bad but I think that's my issue .

Mine ended up being the whole motor itself, only getting about 6 volts out the Pigtail connector has 12V Im 99% sure its the motor. Just bought one.

@@Chickenhunter22 they can rebuild it for you but I think it was like 400$ tho. Made more sense to just buy a new one
Put wd40 in the pump
