Well done video!! Been running Fass 150 for 17yrs & ALWAYS worked until totally drained tank & now not priming.... So your video was worth watching & well spoken! P.S. Love the perfect weather conditions! LOL
Why would you install it in the pickup bed? They recommend installing on the frame rail as close to the the tank as you can. The way it is installed requires the pump to suck fuel straight up into the bed which may be the issue.
Should the pump always be running with the key on? I have a duramax lml engine rebuild that was running great for 2 days and now 3 and 8 fuel injectors are coding out
pumps mounted backwards, first part of the video wrong filter was off, when you crack the foward filter mounted correctly it would of been your rear on your setup the suction to air you were putting your finger over should of been going through the filter to the pickup. filter off that motor was never connected to the pickup line. filter closest to the 2 output lines should be the only filter cracked or off during priming
These are gravity fed fuel pumps. You have overworked the by putting it above the tank. All pumps have a head rating which states the maximum height a pump can be above the source.
Pump was brand new out of the box, I temp mounted it under the truck, same result. When I spoke to Fass they didn’t care that it was in the box of the truck
I'm in the same situation man. Got a brand new pump motor new gear brand new o rings. Installed a sump. And still can't get a prime. Even after pressurizing tank.
I have a new 100 and I can get diesel to flow out of the front filter when cracked and I can hear it circulating back to the filler neck but no output pressure at all. Very frustrating. I’ll probably try this. Take a look at the check ball and orings. Fingers crossed.
Same problem with my brand new fass 165 peice of shit they are nowadays just a money grab for them to go buy big boats to crash while drunk. Shit quality to spend $1,000 and it don’t work
This FASS pump and other similar are ridiculously expensive absurdly. I stick with the OEM one actually i just replaced the in tank one with NOT even an OEM one. It works fine for years and years. I did the job myself dropping the tank out. The hardest part was to remove the electrical and fuel hoses actually.l I have the 2003 Ram 2500 diesel with the canister mounted pump. l used the 2002 pump type from 2002 model when the canister pump failed. It works fine. Then I have the fuel sender sensor went bad. I then replaced with the intank pump which has the new sensor included. Now i have the old pump as a back up and i don't have to worry about fuel pump for a long time or probably never until i get my Tesla Cybertruck. I installed the fuel pressure gauge years ago and the pressure with the NON OEM in tank pump is over 15psi. Yep it max. out my gauge of 0-15psi probably because of brand new pump and filter. I only paid about $50 on ebay for it. If the main pump requires under 10psi of fuel pressure why would you want to spend that big dollars for the FASS or whatever other they are selling. Is it the extra filter? Save your money. stick with the aftermarket one the Ebay one works for me for year from other purchase that i did for my truck. Heck I am going to install a prefilter so i can prolong the main filter even more. With the fuel pressure installed I know instantly when the filter is clogging or some other thing is wrong. It does not have to be pricey IF you know what you are doing. Monkeys see monkeys do will cost you big time.
1 duramaxs don’t have factory lift pumps 2 separating water form the snotty fuel we have today is critical 3 165gallons per hour of constant filtration is awesome 4 it supports more power and is easier on your main pump helps it last longer extremely important if you have a cp4 pump i could go on and on u do u tho
I've had my Fass 150HD for 12yrs, 270,000 plus miles. Runs great, had to shim relief spring & replace wiring harness due to corrosion. Pumps great & feeds a Scheid Stage 1 Lightning VP44 plenty of fuel.
pinch off the return.......... you buy a fass its just how they work you tore yours apart for no reason. and it should beable to self prime and not need the return line plugged off...... Air dog works outta the box. and its smaller so you can actually mount it to the frame without clerance issues. oh and the "foamy ness" from the fuel is not all from the little bit of wd40 you sprayed in it..... and thats a pitiful stream to feed a 5.9L engine or larger. fuel..... probably pumping a whole 2 gallons per hour. and 3 gallons of air with it. i would've called for a full refund after a brand new pump out of the box refused to work. even after cracking the filters to prime it. I almost bet your pump. was assembled without the Fuel return Pressure regulator. without it. it will have a weak stream and pump about as much fuel as you showed. its can only make 10-30 PSI of fuel pressure without the pressure regulator installed. granted it looks like its on a duramax thats a million times better than stock. since no pump to a shitty pump.

What is the third fitting other than the E and R fittings?
Fuel in, fuel out (engine) fuel return (tank)

I have always wired it like Fass directs so my trucks turn the pump on when the key is on
@@Cruff16 should the motor be loud as fucking hell?
I’ve always noticed it running but not overly noticeable, even my old ones that had 3 years on them

pickup line to tank goes directly to that second hole you were touching at 3:24 should put in vid or description so no one burns out their pump
3:28 hole that suction would suck the fuel from first hole to motor then second filter, second filter off, no restriction faster prime
correct at 8:08. WD 40 is a definite especially new, so the pump doesn't have a dry unlubricated start. Hope this info helps!
Where did you get the o rings
My Fass pump came with a extra set or O rings
How old is that pump? How many gal do you think has run thru that pump? It looks new
Pump is brand new
The system is normally installed lower than top of tank! Why is it installed in the box ?
I wanted it out of site and out of the elements, no need to worry about salt and mud or rocks
@harmonsheavydutytruckrepai6590 Is this true for both models using the sump, or draw straw?
Pump should be level with or lower than the tank.
Is this for all brand lift pump systems or just for Fass systems only?
I'm new for this lift pump thing
u want neg head preasure, go level or below@@george8943
How old was that pump, it look new
Brand new, they are hand assembled and I guess the ring was pinched during the initial assembly

So if he is pumping AIR, that means AIR is entering the system, Leak
after I saw your video I will buy airdog pump.

I wish I had gone with a Air Dog! The Fass pump toasted my VP-44 worst system on the market. Don't listen to the hype it's all BULLSHIT!
You should probably give the experience of how it “toasted “ the vp44

My fass 150 works great. Been on the truck 5 years (2002 lb7 Duramax )
