I have a 2018 VMax and have been doing a lot of reading on the VMax versus the R3. VERY few videos on which is faster, but I am seeing the VMax still beats it. I also had my ECU flash, so my bike puts out about 20 hp more...

The Vmax is a incredible bike, and when tuned are scary. I own the R3 in this video and my son owns the Vmax. Comparing both Tuned bikes. The have very similar acceleration. Alot depends on who gets the jump. Roll racing, the R3 gets the jump on the Vmax, but the Vmax catches up quickly. Top speed, the R3 wins by about 10 mph top speed. The 6th gear on the R3 gives it the edge. Both bikes are Monsters. I'm really hoping a 3rd Gen Vmax is in the works. I owned several Vmax's and Love them.

@@6343bryan Dude, thanks for the reply! VERY few people have info on both bikes and a R3 salesman kept telling me how superior the R3 is to the VMax (yawn). At the end of the day, I truly believe it comes down to the rider. As I said, I had my ECU flashed and all the restrictions were removed. The bike will put out about 20 more HP and torque, but Id love to see it raced against an R3. Both are AWESOME bikes!!!

@glickmpb yea, when i bought the R3, the salesman said the R3 would destroy a Vmax. I found out later that day he was lying when i Raced my son on his Vmax. Haha. Thats what made me get my R3 tuned at Texas Superbikes which then gave me the edge over the stock Vmax. Unfortunately my son then got his Vmax tuned at the same location. The R3 acceleration is less violent than the Vmax. Its Smooth and consistent. The Vmax is just a scary Beast. Both bikes leave you smiling and when you return home from a ride your arms and shoulders are sore from hanging on.

@@6343bryan There are things I like about my VMax and things I don’t. I’m one of these guys that has never found a perfect bike. There are always things I don’t like. Don’t get me wrong, I love my VMax and will never get rid of it but 80 miles per tank?? The scoops are pretty fuggly too, but the power is what makes everything ok 😀 I also hate the fact that the rear tire is too small! It should have been a 220, but it is what it is. The R3 looks badass from the mid back, but the front wheel makes it look like a bobber. The dual headlight is iconic but I never cared for it. I sat in one and found it wide between my legs.
I had a 2006 Hayabusa I bought new years ago and I think my VMax is faster. I have done a bunch of little things to it that I really love… Hardwired radar detector, LEDs, Denali Soundbomb horn, Corbin seat, Vantrue F1 cameras. It’s awesome!! 😀

Is the Rocket a bigger, more comfortable bike? Have you ridden a 1000 CC rocket like a Suzuki GSX-R1000? If you have, how do they compare? I'm debating getting a bike again, but I can't ride a crotch rocket like my old Gixxer anymore due to a wrist surgery. I had a Victory Magnum, and while it's by far the most comfortable bike I've ever ridden (and I've ridden a LOT), it was just way too damn slow for me. I've never ridden a Rocket, and I think my buddy had a VMax that I rode ~30 years ago, but it's been so long I don't recall what it was like and I wouldn't be getting one that old anyway! lol

The Rocket 3 is definitely comfortable. Mine is the Gt but I have the mid foot controls. I hate the forward foot controls. The 2nd Gen Vmax is not as comfortable as the Rocket 3, but both are far more comfortable than a 1000 cc sportbike. As far as power goes, the Vmax and the Rocket will out run most sportbikes up to about 140 mph, from my experience. And they will dominate any Harley, even built Harley's. My friends have spent thousands on their Harley's engines only to be destroyed by the Vmax and Rocket 3.
The sportbikes will pull past at 140 plus as they have much higher top speeds. I have a video roll racing a Yamaha R1 m on my Vmax and completely dominating the R1 up to 160. Get a Triumph Rocket 3 and have it tuned. You will have a smile on your face every time you ride.

@@6343bryan thanks for the response. This is exactly the type of info I came looking for! When I bought my Gixxer brand new in '04, it was the faster quarter mile production bike in the world, and I topped it out at 186 mph more than once lol. So going from that to a Victory Magnum was a rude awakening. I'd like something in between, and I think the Rocket 3 might be the ticket. Thanks again!
