Good stuff...I have a LOT of money dumped into Eurorack, and typically record live to BlueBox. I do not use a DAW or software at all, only hardware, but the Maschine+ looks to not only be a way to sequence Eurorack after the fact (again, as opposed to live recording), but also a way for me to, in a sense, use a DAW-like workflow without actually working on a Pee Cee. Thanks for the video!!
@@mr.irrelevant3588 Nobody said they are bad. I have been making music on hardware since the mid-90s, and only purchased my first Pee Cee (laptop) sometime in the 2010s. I'm an old school musician so I'll stick to keyboard controllers thanks, played on 88 fully-weighted keys. Bliss. But each to their own and fair play fella ... You certainly know your way around that tappy thing and those mini racks. Rock on dude!
Great video! What are you tuning the three modules to? Would love a quick talk through of how to get all 3 modules pitched correctly to match what notes you’re playing in Maschine
Given that the Komplete 6 is being used rather than using the Maschine+ audio interface would this all be possible to do using a laptop + Maschine/Mikro as well? I'm trying to pull the trigger on getting in to eurorack and if so then this is the thing that will likely give me the impetus
Sure is! You can connect the Maschine+ to Hermod via the USB Device port on the Hermod (or MIDI din ports), then you can trigger the CV (pitch) and gates (note on/off signals) of the eight different tracks on Hermod using the pads of Machine+. The notes and gates signals can then be sent out from Hermod to the Moog DFAM and SubH VCO in (note cv) and trigger in (gate cv) ports. Works really well! It’s cool sending different notes from the M+ in keyboard mode, out to DFAM and hitting different pitches on what ever is tuned up there, sounds excellent :) the key is the midi to cv conversion of something like Hermod, to get Maschine + talking in eurorack land
@@dokertimusic7934 Yes, unfortunately the Maschine+ doesn't have built in CV in/out (some day I really hope they jump in the modular world!) so we need an intermediary like the Hermod to translate to the eurorack CV format from the MIDI capabilities of the M+. You could connect the Grandmother to Maschine+ via MIDI, which would work great, however, you wouldn't be able to do much in terms of controlling SubH and DFAM, aside from the connectivity they already have with the Grandmother. There are other options for MIDI to CV conversion you could look into, I'm just familiar with the setup used in this video.
BenEmotion Thank you for your informative responses. I am particularly keen to have the polyphonic functionality with Subharmonicon & Maschine; as the pad sounds achievable with long attack/decay times on Subharmonicon are otherworldly.
Red Means Dopeness... because this is a dope video... but I see how you went with NI instead of Akai (red in Japanese). Jokes aside, well done Jeremy. A very inspiring few minutes!!!
Any problem with plugin delay compensation being absent on maschine? Does maschine plus handles this better or should I expect groups to be out of sync coming out of the maschine plus?
Anyone else feels the internal soundcard samples at pretty low volume? For example with my phone on max i never can get at 0 or more, with my mpc one line in at half i get sufficient volume. Low quality preamps in the standard m+ soundcard? With another soundcard attached to it (scarlett, behringer18 20) it´s no problem. Side note the behringer has 10 outputs excellent for use with a small mixer, maybe one of rhe tascam models is the best because you can record everything on their own track on a sd card, then transfer everything over to your daw and you get every channel to edit afterwards, plus s1y wh1t you want putting it through an analogue monster gives it "that" sound.
I recently bought an Akai MPC ONE and I'm starting to regret that decision because of one thing: it cant gracefully loop over an arbitrary section of an audio track while I record drums onto a separate audio track. Can Maschine+ do this? I've watched like 10 videos and can't find any demo. I'm not about to drop $1200 unless I know it can do this: I'm working with the gnarliest blues guitar/singer you've ever heard and his timing is all over the place and its glorious. So when I'm trying to lay down drums over lets say section 00:32:05 to 00:45:15 of his track, man its so difficult! Because when I hit the record button IT STOPS RECORDING AT THE END OF THE LOOP! So frustrating. Now I've seen that the machine has a 'take' mode which is awesome, but does that take mode work if I'm looping over any section of another track? If so then TAKE MY MONEY! Because another thing I absolutely hate about the MPC is that when I'm done laying down drums on a loop section and I want to advance to the next section, it zooms the view all the way out! why does it do that? Cause now I got to zoom all the way back in and find the place where I was. What a pain. and don't even get me started on its horrible midi editor. Does the Maschine+ have a better midi editor?
considering this is not addressed in the setup part - what about latency? can it monitor through maschine in real time, using its effects, without latency?

@@basgoossen Ah ok thanks for the answer! does this improve the maschine performance if you outsource the audio management or is it just for more connectivity/inputs?
