There was a lot of stuff wrong with Live Aid.
It was supposed to help the starving refugees in Ethiopia. Ethiopia has a communist government that was actively massacring tribal groups in the mountains and the Wilderness of Ethiopia. Therefore, the people needed food so that they could survive.
Geldof took everything that was provided, and instead of going through an organization that would come in as a neutral actor to give food to these people who were refugees, he handed it directly to the Ethiopian government. That communist government use their position to enforce what they wanted. The food was given to their supporters, to their soldiers, and to those who came in and surrendered to the communist government.
In other words, it resulted in more death, and made things worse.

    • @stackhat8624

It came up in the news not too long after.
All of those facts stuck in my mind for my reading the original reports.
But as to the actual source?
I suppose we could find it if we look around a bit on the internet today...
The fact remains, however, that people tried to warn him not to dispense with the age and the way he did, but he insisted that he was going to do what he was doing with it. He basically handed directly to the Marxist government leaders. All that wind up doing with exacerbating the situation and giving them more control over the victim's than they had before.
Yeah, anything to do with what Karl Marx came up with is a bad deal for everybody.

they were doing well except for the US because they banned the video for brake free Freddie refused to go
previous to that Hot Space hadnt been well received in the US
Freddie finished his solo between the works album and tour which was released during the tour
Roger had already released two albums
Freddie didn't know he had AIDS until 87
the whole story about him and Jim is completely wrong as well
I have no idea why Brian talked about the event the way he did in recent interviews he is also claiming they hadn't worked together for a long time despite the interviewer saying they had just done a tour!
      he's getting very muddled
they were doing very well everywhere except the US
Freddie refused to go there on their works tour
and the previous album Hot Space wasn't well received US but was no 4 UK
obviously Live Aid did give them a boost but they were doing well as a band
moral had been low after the Hot Space album
the only concern of doing Live Aid was what reception would they get after doing Sun City during their tour they had a lot of criticism especially from America which may have been another factor of Freddie not wanting to do it

they were doing well the only issue was concern how they would be recieved because of sun city during their tour
Freddie had refused to tour the US but other than that they were still doing well
