Yes, I think that in regard of the memory of Jim Hutton they prefered showing their first encounter at a party at Freddie's house instead of at a gay club. Nothing wrong with gay clubs, lol, but you have to think about the look of it and what the family could feel, etc. Plus a meeting at home where they can talk together alone shows the intimacy between them that could not be shown on screen if the scene was shot in a club, and they probably didn't have time to make ANOTHER scene where they'd meet again at a restaurant.... There are multiple parameters that can lead to changes in a movie.
But I thought Jim said in this interview he met Freddie twice before they met a third time at the club.. in the film quite a few things are compressed to fit about 20 years into 2 hours, and I thought the scene where Freddie meets Jim was brilliant. It doesn't matter if everything isn't completely as it was in real life, what matters is how well the film portrays the narrative and how accurately it conveys the spirit of things. My only problem with the movie was it was just too short - having to condense everything too much and parts were pretty rushed. However the cast have already said in interviews that a lot more was shot than could be fitted into the theatrical edit, so an extended cut will be released on DVD. I am definitely going to get that over the theatrical cut. Unfortunately it's a pretty impossible task to condense 20 years worth of epic and often meandering real life story into a 2 hour film. I did think that a kind of miniseries (HBO or something) of maybe 10 hour-long episodes would have suited the story much better.. but hey ho, I still really enjoyed the film and the spirit of Freddie was there in spades. I also actually appreciated the fact that it's introducing whole new generations of young people to a band as brilliant and creatively inspiring as Queen rather than it just being some 18 rated durge obsessed with Freddie's gay relationships, sex and death for crusty old men who already know all about him. Freddie's sexuality was very much secondary to his work, creativity, love and spirit.
@ Mike Girard In biopics It's difficult to be 100% accurate for various reasons (people not wanting to have their names used, places that do not exist anymore and/or not having the budget to recreate, not having enough time to tell everything, being respectful of the family of a deceased person, etc.) So usualy biopics focus on certain things and either don't talk about others or try to tell the same kind of things in another ways. I think documentaries and books have more freedom because it's easier to tell every sides of a "truth" than in a regular movie . Bohemian Rhapsody chose to show "the legend", not the truth, and in this case I think it is paradoxically pretty respectful about what Freddie was about. In a movie with the official "Queen" label on it The SHOW must go on.
When a person has that big of a personality, you don't think they are going to die. You think they are going to pull through. It is shocking when they don't.
I’m so glad he had his family and friends with him when he passed. That’s what love is all about......being there for our loved ones in their darkest or last hour. It had to be a great comfort to Freddie to be surrounded by those he loved and loved him in return. There’s nothing sadder than a dying person being completely alone at the end to suffer on their own.
I heard Mary called his parents when he died to tell them he had gone i cannot imagine Freddie wanted his family especially his mother and younger sister to watch him die
I just think it’s kinda funny that people who KNEW JIM PERSONALLY all think he was a really genuine and nice guy, and I am citing a quote from Aaron McCuster, who played Jim Hutton in BoRhap movie, “Anyone interviewed about him, anything I’ve read about the people who knew him personally, nobody had a bad thing to say about him. He really calmed Freddie down. He was a really good influence on him. He wasn’t with him for the fame and fortune. It was genuine love.” Whereas reading some comments here, all these people who are bad mouthing Jim as a person or questioning their relationship as if they knew him personally or were there witnessing this relationship. With regards to the discussion around whether publishing this book is appropriate, who inherited what and how much, etc., all I can imagine is Freddie groaning up there, “Oh dear, you guys are making me boring.”
Yes, especialy because there are still people who think they will get sick if they touch person with HIV or AIDS. That's what people told me when they heard that I was helping to a woman whose son has AIDS. They said I will get it from him. I said :"how? It's not like I m gonna jump on him naked and have sex! I m not in contact with his blood or anything! Learn a little bit about the decise!" People are still biggots. Even theese days.
@@mdaddy775 Well he didnt chose to get sick, right? My mom died of cancer. And the hard part was when she needed someone to be with her whilst I go to do things. With papper work, going to give her doctor pappers from the hospital and stuff. And she couldnt stay alone. She was in terminal fase. So I know what it's like. And he's not feeling Well. He needs help and his mom is an elderly woman who cant hold him when he needs help. I cant belive that people are such biggots and such ignorants. In 21.century.I m glad I can help. And I wouldnt be doing anything else rather then that. I dont care how he got it or from whome. He is a human being, he is someones son,I see a friend in him and that is what we all are here to make a diference. I may not be able to change the world but I sure can do my part in it.
dakruise1 Do your research Jim had HIV while Freddie had full blown AIDS. You have to have HIV for about 7 YEARS or more before it becomes AIDS. Do you know ANYTHING about HIV/AIDS doesn't sound like you do
Everyone needs to read Mercury and Me because it's the softest, the most heartbreaking book I have ever read. Jim really loved him with all his heart and didn't deserve to be treated like he wasn't part of Freddie's life. That man was the love of his life and stayed with him until the end.
It is generally acknowledged by those closest to Freddie that Mary Austin was the love of his life. Obviously Hutton and Mercury were partners for the last years of Freddie's life, but Hutton did seem to want to minimize the closeness of Freddie and Mary, and it seemed he was trying to promote himself a bit.
@@aleonaa Uh so if Freddie never dated Jim then why did Jim live in his house and why did Jim Hutton get the same disease Freddie had? That's only spread by unprotected sexual intercourse
@@aleonaa wot a load ov shit you are talking.he had a house built in Ireland for him and Jim.plus he left Jim just over a million in 1991.but be never went out wiv him😂😂
After reading Mercury and Me I must say that they really were soulmates. They really loved each other and it breaks my heart they couldn't get old together.
C Su Then why did Jim continue to work until Freddie died? Why did he work as a barber and then as Freddie’s gardener? He even refused to let Freddie pay for their house in Ireland and he got a bank loan. Stop talking out your ass
Gosh I wish this man would have met Fred in 1979. It might have saved his life. Freddie was always searching for a partner. The guys in Queen, the people who lived with Freddie and even Mary all liked Jim Hutton. They knew he loved Freddie for the right reasons. I mean, he had never even been to a rock concert before seeing Fred at Live Aid.
@@kazabushy ......yes, Jim said he denied Freddie several times, because he was unattractive. I agree. Yet, when the money was good it made it bearable.
@Tom Caine You accept this lifestyle? Not my place to judge but it is WRONG. Try to justify it all you want unfaithful toad. It ruins societies and history has proven it again and again. Jim was such a kind, sweet and very humble human being. I met jim a few months before his passing, i couldnt believe my eyes. I have mad respect for the man. Anyway, we sat down and talked about Freddie for 2 hours straight. He was so heartbroken he actually said that Freddie death took a toll on him. He was right next to him when freddie peacefully passed away jim was there with him, holding his hand. I dont know why so many people dislike Jim, we all should be thankful to him. He loved freddie very Much, He took care of him. And stood by his side till his very Last Day on this earth. Jim Made freddie so happy, he brought so much Happiness in Freddie Life, Jim didnt care about how Famous Freddie Was, or about how many money he had. So people get your facts straight. And let him rest in peace. Wherever he might Be, I hope he knows that we all thankful to him and that we miss him. Thank you jim, ill never forget you. You were a great chap. Hope youre at peace. Say hi to freddie from us. :)
Jim use to live down the road from me! He died almost 10 years. But i remember seeing him around town. Its nice he came back to live (and die) in his hometown in Ireland. He was a good man.
Nepamiršk už ką mes kovojome Lietuvi! search up paul prenter. he was a real person and a real person who manipulated freddie in the 70’s and 80’s. he want made up at all
RealClear Satire sighs. If god “hates” gays so much why would he make people gay huh tell me that. “They were sick” NO they were in love wouldn’t the Bible want you to not be so mean and love everyone the way they are???? STOP THE HATE ITS GETTING UPSETING
All this talk about Jim doing it for the money, or disrespecting Freddie makes me embarrassed as a Queen fan. Many of the commenters act like they knew Freddie as a good friend. Jim was Freddie's love for SIX YEARS. You honestly think you understand Freddie more than this man? I sympathize with Jim. If I were a former lover of the famous, adored Freddie Mercury, and rumors were going around, I certainly would publish a book in an attempt to clear things up. It's not like these things are secret.
Brodolo Exactly. Everybody knows better then the people who belonged to Freddie’s self chosen family. I’m sick of it. I stick to believe the people who really knew him. And EVERYBODY who was close to him (Phoebe, Thor, Lee, Brian, Terry....the list goes on. Even Jer (Freddie’s mother, thanked Jim in a letter for loving her son and taking so much care of him) says, those two were deeply in love.
Jim was loved by Freddie’s bandmates and Phoebe and Joe lived with him in Garden Lodge for years. And when Jim passed away who was the first person to show grief?................ Brian. Jim was well liked by Freddie’s nearest and dearest except one person I guess.
He was not his "lover". He was his husband in a world where gay marriage was illegal. They had rings. They had two homes together. Let's not trivialise their relationship.
Ricca Shaps Riiiight. So he "deserves to have a say" and blab to the whole world about the size of Freddies penis, how he preferred to have sex, how Freddie cheated on him, used the book to publically bitch about Mary? Disloyal bastard. Not giving a shit about Freddies family or friends? Imagine if you died and your partner wrote an international book like that about you after all you had given them?? Bitch about the one person you truly trusted? Type of guy who would sell his own Grandmothers ashes. Exploiting disloyal bastard.

DesolationAngel I mean Mary was Freddie’s best friend, and they truly loved each other, but he also loved Jim. The best thing we fans can do is respect both of them ✊
Hey buddy you in London ? The only reason was because Freddie new Jim was HIV positive. Mary has a family so he gave it to her. Also Mary was manipulative and disrespected Freddie a lot.
When I finished reading Mercury and Me, I cried for like an hour... NON STOP. Jim is such a good man. He stayed with Freddie until his last breath. F*ck y’all for saying Jim only wanted Freddie for money and fame. Destiny wanted them together so bad and I’m so happy that they’re now together somewhere in Heaven with their cats.
I feel so sad because Jim had to go through the pain of having someone you love leave you and not come back, forever. I feel he was a good man and would never hurt Freddie intentionally. Thank you and love you Freddie Mucury and Jim Hutton.
Back to1987. AIDS was unknown lethal infection. Their friends of about 100 people were already dead. But Jim did not board a lifeboat of the Titanic. He chose to continue to stay near Freddie as a lover (not a close friend). I think Freddie would have been very surprised and very glad. Even if Jim had a drawback , I want to thank that action to Jim.
I lost my baby brother to AIDS in 1986 , he was 29 years old ...it's incredible how ignorance & fear ran rampant & I lost my job, my home, my marriage because he was my brother however I have no regrets on how well I personally treated him ! I would never wish this disease on anyone, not even my worst enemies !
Yeah, he probably thought he was gonna inherit the house, that's why he stuck around. If he really loved Freddie, he wouldn't publish a book with so many personal and private details. Everyone knows how private Freddie was.
All those who believed Jim wrote this book for money can’t be a real Freddie fan ! Because I know and I’m sure everyone knows how much this book is precious to us to know about the sweetest romance 🥺🥺
I've read that all the profits from the book went to a hospital in Ireland, I think they did AIDS research. Jim was hiv+ and didn't know how long he would live.
The true fans are informed, not like those people. They don't know about hutton interview where himself recognized he lied. hutton Liar. You don't have any right to talk about Freddie. Why those shitts* are not taken down from RUclips. He already recognized in an interview ( he was forced to recognize by Queen staff) that he lied about his " relationship " with Freddie. He recognized that he wrote only lies to make himself important. And he said that in his book wrote what happened only in his head , not in real life. What he wanted to happen but never happened... He recognized that Freddie didn't have any relationship with him since the end of 1985. From that moment he was a simply Gardner, a simply Freddie's servant like anybody from Garden Lodge. Even hutton said if Freddie was alive and healthy he would have thrown hutton out from Garden Lodge. And hutton declared and recognized all.
Freddie you finally found someone to love you and to love them back. I’m so very happy that you had your time with Jim. We still miss you deeply Freddie. I know you must be the most flamboyant angel in heaven! 👊🏻✌🏻You are probably putting on shows and singing for the other angels!! 😇 ROCK ON FREDDIE!!!!
IT'S SAD he has gone. I was blown away at the news- a sad way to start 2010 for Freddie fans. I liked him and feel greatful he was an eye witess to tell us so much -no second hand info. He have his book, this interview, his memories. Moreover his honourable intentions for Freddie. I hope Jim passed away peacefully and Freddie was his last thoughts... Jim WAS a good person who did a lot for Freddie in sickness and in health...right till the end! Most Freddie fans will never forget Jim!
I have a dear friend who was diagnosed with HIV in 1986 and is still healhy. His wife is also positive (not from him). They now have a three year old daughter who is negative due to all the advancements made. I'm so so happy when I see their little family.😍
I love how his face lights up the gentle dimple that appears when talking about Freddie, it really is a beautiful thing to behold looking at the face of a person who truly, unequivocally loved another.. you cannot fake that... R.I.P Jim and Freddie no doubt kindred souls together again.
I read his book and I thought it was great. It wasn't so much about giving away Freddie's secrets, but more about himself and how his life changed from an average person. I wish he had put in the pictures of the tables he made Freddie as he seemed proud of making them. He helped to look after Freddie in the end and if you care about Freddie, then care about Jim, as Jim made him happy.
I know the song was written for Mary Austin but I think Jim Hutton was truly, the love of his live. Rest in Peace Jim, Freddie we found you somebody to love.
dakruise1 .... First, you don’t give someone AIDS, you give someone HIV, AIDS is a condition not something you give to others, HIV causes AIDS ... Second, people can have HIV and not know it for years, so I highly doubt it was intentional...
I just today finished reading Mercury and Me. It's a wonderful book, telling the story of the last few years of Freddie's life, and his life with Jim Hutton. Strongly recommended for any fan of Freddie Mercury.
@@lisa408t He still didn't know who Freddie was. Were you not paying attention to the book or are you just trying to twist it so Jim looks like a bad person?
@Yo1969Yo >> Also Mary has said in interviews that she felt lonely when she moved into Freddie's house as his staff, who she describes as being like her family, all left because Freddy was so generous to them. She makes no mention of the fact that they wanted to stay but she asked them to leave. Now it was her house, but it was a pretty unkind thing to evict the 3 guys who had cared for Freddy day and night. I just find the way she paints it amusing.
I still miss Freddy Mercury and David Bowie. I'm 65 years old and it's painful to lose some friends or great persons like Freddy , David and others, they all go down one by one. :-(
I always imagined Freddie waiting for Jim at the Pearly Gates, standing there hands on hips and saying "Well you took your time!" A lovely couple reunited once more ❤
I can't imagine his pain about losing the love of his life, it was amazing seeing Freddie happy especially in his last days with jim right by his side, now that's true love.
@Yo1969Yo He did indeed leave Mary the house and it was his choice and as his dearest friend she no doubt deserves it. I do however, do a little bit of an eye roll when I hear her in interviews re-writing history. Mary makes it sound like she nursed him day and night and makes no mention of the 3 men (including Jim) that were his non-stop carers in his last days - something which people like Brian May have referred to. >>
Exactly!🙄👍And later on after she inherited Everything from Freddie’s house, his priceless arts & running his business & cashing his royalties she didn’t care as much as his band best friends for his family or his three companions who 24/7 cared for him and on top of it complained about his friends abandoning her ??!! What a selfish self centred woman?! Freddie should have seen this side of her never surfaced when alive!!No sympathy for her what so ever even when people keep counting her as the love of his life🙄👎maybe in the beginning but she was Not after they broke up she was just a friend an employee and Freddie was way too generous to her!🙄🙄
It's so hard to imagine Freddie's private life. He was such a larger-than-life character on stage, and then so quiet-even shy-in private. One wonders what it was like when it was just him, Jim and the cats.
@@sandrinelengagne8899 SHE WAS PAID TO GIVE THE PUBLIC A NICE ENDING!!! ASK HER ABOUT IT TODAY....... IT WAS 'JUST AN INTERVIEW! Edit- and she obviously knew that you can't ccontract HIV from touching.
@kazabushy But many people back then (and even now) treat people with HIV like you can get it just from being in the same room as the person. There are many ways should could have given the public a "nice ending" without touching him. She is being kind here.
@@niko_x_zero Sorry. What are you talking about? I was a person "back then." I graduated High school in 1984. We were taught years earlier about safe sex at school and Aids was part of that safe sex education. We we're TAUGHT that AIDS was only transmitted through blood or sexual contact. That's when condoms were pushed for reasons other than pregnancy. Give us oldies a little credit. For some young RUclipsr to come along and write what a brave interviewer she was in 1994 for touching him is pretty naive to speak for us. If people exist in 2018 who think you can contract HIV from being in the same room as someone like you wrote then that is clearly their ignorance and prejudice. I feel sorry for them.
I believe we all have many parts to "the self," so it doesn't surprise me that Freddie was such a dynamic, outgoing PERFORMER but off stage a quiet, reserved person. I think many brilliant performers are quiet and somewhat introverted in every day life.
You can tell he was a private shy guy. I’m so glad he spent his years with jim and was happy. He gave so much happiness to others and he deserved that back ten fold ❤️
He is so sweet here. You can see the charm that would have attracted Freddie. I just finished reading his book. It is so sweet and sad. What is most devastating is not just his loss of Freddie, and how he suffered afterwards, but the regret that he felt that he did not get closer to Freddie about his health. It appears that Freddie really compartmentalised his life, right up to the end. If you do that, then no one person really knows you. He kept Jim at a little distance, even Jim. I feel sorry for them both for this. I wonder if Mary really did dislike Jim? I wonder if she blamed Freddie's gay lovers for his death? Was that a part of it? Can only speculate. From Jim's book it sounds like she tried to get rid of Jim a few months before Freddie passed. It sounds like Freddie's household could be a hotbed of intrigue. Maybe Freddie liked it that way. I'm glad for them both that Jim stayed. I'm sure Freddie would not have lasted so long without Jim's love and devotion.
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 No, Freddie wasn't attracted, Freddie use this man for making jealous other person but didn't function...and in 1996 hutton was forced by Queen staff to tell the truth. Read my comments and you will find hutton told and wrote only lies . He recognized he was NOTHING NOBODY for Freddie, just a simply Freddie's servant nothing more. Even hutton said he wrote those lies for making himself important....look for the interview, this book is a hugeshits
i know:(( they both really did deserve better. fred went through so much with relationships before jim & i just wish they had met sooner. i just know there was so much they wanted to do- their irish & swiss home, they maybe wanted kids sometime. gah, heartbreaking
@@leiabreen I think that would have kept Fred grounded, and his lifestyle would have been entirely different. He would probably still be making music today. Glad he found love in the end, but life really is cruel at times...
Knowing their story and their paths crossed throughout life multiple times before finally being together, i hope shows destiny really does pop up in life :) Like all of us, Freddie truly deserved someone that loved him for who he was, not for his name or his legacy, and I'm so happy he was able to find that in Jim.
I read Mercury and Me, I liked it. No doubt Jim and Freddie loved each other deeply, and Jim was the settling influence that Freddie needed at that time. However, this book, much like the movie, shone light on just one thread of a very complex human being. New fans who have come this way after seeing the movie see Freddie's male relationships as black and white....Paul Prenter or Jim Hutton...devil or angel. Freddie's first documented gay relationship was with David Mimms in the 70's, but comments have been written that he was sexually active during his school days in India. Much is made of who was the love of Freddie's life - Mary or Jim - when David caught Freddie cheating, Freddie was quoted as saying 'I have enough love for you all!'. I believe him. Driven probably by affection deprivation as a small child, his absolute need for love and adoration made him a very difficult person to have a committed relationship with, despite it being the thing Freddie craved the most. Freddie did cheat on Mary, and on Jim, and probably any person he had a relationship with, as he could not get what he needed from one person, but that didn't make him any less sincere or loveable. My point being we will never know who is telling the truth, this book, another book, the movie, because Freddie's relationship with love was so complex. There is a reason why there is no 'fact' department in a book store.....simply fiction and non-fiction....what we believe will never be confirmed.
How did you explain my thoughts? Wizardry! I've watched lots of documentaries, the film and done my own research on things. Considering reading his book although it's the first I've heard of it, I'm sure it's excellent! He was really such a complex person and I can't understand him at all, I wish I could but he was so complicated. He was like 300 different people and no one could ever know them all, maybe it's through press depiction but thats the impression I get from him. I think it would be impossible to write a book, a film or anything that fully showed what a wonderful human being he was
@@randomstranger6577 Magic!😁 If you are as obsessed with all things Queen/Freddie as I am, then I highly recommend this book. It's not written particularly well, but Jim was a hairdresser, not an author, but the sentiment is all there. You'll laugh, you'll cry, and you'll break your heart at the end. If the book is to be believed, Jim loved Freddie very much, and was the immovable object to Freddie's unstoppable force, their personalities complemented each other....to a point. Like you said there were '300' sides to Freddie that I doubt he understood, or considered much, but he fascinates me! I don't think he ever considered he could have love and sex in the same person, and probably didn't...entirely. His need to control the circumstances around him - probably due to shyness/insecurity - was a huge part of the book, totally opposite to the bold ready for anything stage character. 27 years after his death, fans still cannot get a handle on the enigma he was, I doubt any one media stream ever will
Considering how private Freddy Mercury was, it's disconcerting to me that the person who supposedly loved him would write a book about so many intimate moments in Freddy's life. You don't need to write a book to process the loss of a loved one, and if you do you still don't publish out of love and respect. I'm really happy Freddy left most of his money to Mary - who we haven't heard a peep from. Mary shines through as the person who loved Freddy and is most loyal. Bless you Mary.
It can take years for someone to realize they are HIV positive. Usually the virus is very latent so there is no way to find out the second you get it. It's much to Freddie's credit that he kept on working till the end. he was a great man and musician
I'm just finishing the book, with tears, It is such a beautiful love story. I'm glad Freddie found Jim. It seems from the book, they had a great love and to me Jim was the love of his life. The book inspired me in so many levels. How lucky were the people close to him
They took a lot of artistic liberties with that film. Freddie apparently didn't get diagnosed until two years after Live Aid. So that scene where he was speaking to the band about being diagnosed was made up.
Shane Corcoran ... everyone in the theater was talking about that. The band to allow such fake scenes to be included says something about them. Like why would you allow it to be released as is.
The message is the same: He wanted them to know he had aids and he told them. His idea was the same all he wanted to do was keep it private and keep making music. So i think it doesnt matter if they only stuck to 95% of the facts. Important thing is that they supported his wishes.
I hate how they change history and take liberties when it involves someone's life and legacy. Why change things when there are people who were there and have gone on record to verify the facts of what went down? It makes you question the entire movie.. his life was colorful and intriguing in its own right - there was no reason to change things up.
@@sahirygnobehi6448 It's a movie, not a documentary. There are dozens of documentaries and interviews that show the truth, so no, it doesn't say anything about the band. They recognise that not everything in a movie has to be, or should be, the truth. And they ended the film at Live Aid because it ends it on a high, but since people would freak out if they didn't acknowledge Freddie having AIDS, they brought the time of the diagnosis forward a bit so people wouldn't accuse them of ignoring something so huge.
I'm pretty sure they went over the questions prior to the actual interview. Also, I think it's pretty insensitive to publish a tell-all book about his relationship with a man who couldn't read the book or censor it. Freddie was protective of his private life. I don't care what Jim's reasons were. In my eyes, it was a pretty crummy thing to do. And I'm surprised that there are so many people who are okay with what he did.
@@Chocobear555 My guess is, he was mad that he didn't get the majority of assets like Mary did. Mary really was the love of his life, she never once betrayed Freddie. I can't say the same for Jim. This book was so disrespectful, and also that private bath video he sold to the press. What a bastard.

Jim was a very down to earth man ... I introduced myself to him in his hometown of Carlow/ Ireland and he was very modest... The Hutton family are very well respected in Carlow ❤️ ... Rip to Jim and the great Freddie 🌟❤️🌟❤️🌟
I understand that Freddie left Jim, Peter, and the others living at Garden Lodge with him, each 500,000.00 pounds. In Jim's book he wrote that he had wanted to buy a home in his homeland, near his relatives. He had made a fair amounts of payments, but when Freddie found out he completed paying it off the for Jim. Jim had also said when they would go together on shopping sprees, Freddie would buy things and give to Jim for what he would call "Our home". That thought pleased Jim.
I wish Freddie and Jim had found each other years earlier since they were soul mates. Jim seems to be just a really good, ordinary man who loved Freddie so much and Freddie was searching for so many years for that. I know that Freddie left this world truly loved by Jim, how wonderful..... May they both be in God's loving arms in heaven for eternity.......
Freddie said the time he was with Jim was his happiest years💕I wish Freddie had met Jim earlier, it could have helped him stop his reckless lifestyle and Freddie could still be alive

Remember when Freddie was interviewed and said he was "doing everything with everybody"? We know now that lifestyle is not safe. I'm sure Jim's influence settled Freddie so he stopped living that caotic lifestyle. It's possible due to Jim's settled and quiet influence, we had Freddie around longer than he might otherwise have been. So rather than crucify the poor guy for writing this book, we should be thanking him for unconditionally loving this rock star and giving us all more time to adore Freddie and his works.
To those who find inconsistencies or inaccuracies in the film- please note the film is NOT a documentary
Exactly. Somebody gets it!
@ Mike Girard
In biopics It's difficult to be 100% accurate for various reasons (people not wanting to have their names used, places that do not exist anymore and/or not having the budget to recreate, not having enough time to tell everything, being respectful of the family of a deceased person, etc.) So usualy biopics focus on certain things and either don't talk about others or try to tell the same kind of things in another ways.
Thank you for clarifying that. People dont understand that. You are right the film is NOT a documentary.

Two words - David Bowie. He was supposed to be immortal too, wasn't he?
Metamorphosis Rox 😢

I'm sure Freddie would not have lasted so long without Jim's love and devotion.
juliact 😍❤️love this comment
It's pretty obvious that Mary didn't like Jim. She was worried he would take her inheritance.
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
No, Freddie wasn't attracted, Freddie use this man for making jealous other person but didn't function...and in 1996 hutton was forced by Queen staff to tell the truth. Read my comments and you will find hutton told and wrote only lies . He recognized he was NOTHING NOBODY for Freddie, just a simply Freddie's servant nothing more. Even hutton said he wrote those lies for making himself important....look for the interview, this book is a hugeshits
Respect. He made freddy happy and was always there for him til the end of his life.
Its funny that Freddie would find someone so down to earth. Too bad they didn't find each other a few years earlier.....
i know:(( they both really did deserve better. fred went through so much with relationships before jim & i just wish they had met sooner. i just know there was so much they wanted to do- their irish & swiss home, they maybe wanted kids sometime. gah, heartbreaking
@@leiabreen I think that would have kept Fred grounded, and his lifestyle would have been entirely different.
He would probably still be making music today. Glad he found love in the end, but life really is cruel at times...
They did Jim refused Freddie. He had some growing up to do first
The book is astonishing and I think each of you should read it!
That book made me feel like I knew Freedie. He was amazing! Freddie forever!
Jim is a Beautiful Man! Freddie is a beautiful Man! You are just but 2 beautiful people! And it's heartbreaking!
How did we lose so many beautiful people from a stupid virus that can now be treated! I lost too many and I'm pissed off! Sorry.
RIP Jim and Freddie has the Love of His Life with Him again .
R.I.P Jim And Freddie!!
Did Jim die of aids as well? 😞
@@racharina No, lung cancer in 2010. He was well into his 60's
@@racharina ....yes

C Su Why would it be a front? It was well known he had the disease. Why lie?
It’s ok to be Gay Because even though Freddy was Gay His fans Loved Him
How did you explain my thoughts?
27 years after his death, fans still cannot get a handle on the enigma he was, I doubt any one media stream ever will
Jim is such a gentleman..,RIP
How lucky were the people close to him
Už pred dvoma rokmi bola preložená do češtiny? Alebo ste ju čítala po Anglicky?
So good to see someone talking about love on TV , no matter what, there's too much violence in this world today.
I watched Bohemian Rhapsody Movie Last Night, Freddie met Jim at Club but on movie they met at Freddie's Party and Jim was one of his waiters....
I"m so happy that Freddie found a sweet guy to love. Makes me happy RIP sweetheart.
I read his book years and when it got to the part when Freddie died I was in tears, Jim and Freddie were so good together,
Wow a few questions were so insensitive ...
@@annalinestark1273 I think that he expected more money than other employees. It was not about the amount of the money, BUT system like the same amount for everybody:partner Jim and also Freddieś assistant , chef etc.

No. She was polite and respectful and asked questions that were interesting and questions that needed to be asked.
The one with Freddie's final hours was heartbreaking
@Dantè Spardason - I didn't like how she asked about his final hours, though. Tacky.
You can see his face is so full of light. I'm glad Freddie was with a good person in the end.
Hello Tracey, How are you doing?
Sometimes I think I'm a bigger Jim Hutton fan than a Freddie Mercury fan! The man was so precious

How disrespectful
Just introduce him as his partner
Don’t cheapen it by “lover “
Shut up.
what's the difference even ?

Man go the extra mile and just fuckin say "boyfriend"
They are asked before the interview, how would you like me to introduce you"
I understand that Freddie left Jim, Peter, and the others living at Garden Lodge with him, each 500,000.00 pounds.
I love this interview. It’s just reminiscing on good times. It’s amazing, and Jim was such a nice man.
I wish Freddie and Jim had found each other years earlier since they were soul mates. Jim seems to be just a really good, ordinary man who loved Freddie so much and Freddie was searching for so many years for that. I know that Freddie left this world truly loved by Jim, how wonderful..... May they both be in God's loving arms in heaven for eternity.......
great casting job for the film immediately recognisable! : )
Nobody liked Paul Prenter, but everyone liked Jim! Such a great and kind man :) glad Freddie found a good lover
Freddie said the time he was with Jim was his happiest years💕I wish Freddie had met Jim earlier, it could have helped him stop his reckless lifestyle and Freddie could still be alive
Gaby Roslin calling it ''Great Lodge'' instead of Garden Lodge sounds ridiculous, she should be more informed than that
Christopher Howe, I agree with you.
I find it sad that we don’t have much more on Jim. I mean he was part of Freddie’s life.
He is really man of pure soul..... It reflects

Mary Austin and Jim Hutton really were the love of Freddie's life
Remember when Freddie was interviewed and said he was "doing everything with everybody"?
We know now that lifestyle is not safe.
I'm sure Jim's influence settled Freddie so he stopped living that caotic lifestyle.
It's possible due to Jim's settled and quiet influence, we had Freddie around longer than he might otherwise have been.
So rather than crucify the poor guy for writing this book, we should be thanking him for unconditionally loving this rock star and giving us all more time to adore Freddie and his works.
No he settled because his exes started dropping like flies (dying) and he was scared
