It’s fine to go into the woods at night. Just make sure you’re the reason others shouldn’t go into the woods at night and you’ll be perfectly safe.

I used to walk home at night from a friends house. It was faster for me to walk through the woods. It would scare me at first but once I pretended I was a night stalker the fear evaporated and I enjoyed it.

I used to primitive camp in National forests by myself years ago. It's not for the faint of heart. Being alone in the deep wood, nothing but moonlight or complete blackness. The forest makes strange sounds at night and you'll see glowing eyes randomly staring at you from all directions. Thats perfectly normal and fine.
The part that freaked me out is when you're listening to the sounds of nature and suddenly the animal eyes disappear and it becomes so calm and silent like all the animals, bugs and even trees knows something isn't right. Silence, black and calm for miles.
You just stay as still and silent as you can trying to gain composure looking at what little you can see. This happened to me once in Glacier around the North Fork Valley and I don't get spooked easily and know nature relatively well.
There was something sinister in that wood that night. I can't explain it but it almost didn't feel natural. I ended up falling asleep in the hollow of a tree truck after just laying silent for hours. I do not recommend.

A true story happened to me, I was about 14 years old, my family used to travel a lot. One day, they told me that as their usual, they are going for a near city for like 2 days, and I was trying to prepare myself for an exam that day so I wanted to stay at home. My family bought me a bird, so I won’t feel lonely. I also called my friend, and he stayed with me until around 9 pm and then left me. That day, around 1 am, I was studying, we have a long hall way that take me to the living room, where I was studying late there. The lights was so dark in the hall way, when I head a clear sound telling me: “Say Your Prayers” in a weird voice. There was no one at home. I swear I almost couln’t move one inch, my chest was so tight at that moment. But then I tried to convince myself its my imagination. I tryed to be calm and waited. When I heared the sound again, “ Say Your Prayers”. I almost blacked out, I was having difficulty to breath for like 3 minutes. Then I tried to search for that person who’s making the sound. When I heard again “Pray” the sound was behind me. I turned slowly, and it was the fucking bird we have. I didn’t know that he can talk. He is a Myna.

When I was a teen my sister and I were visiting family up in the bush. Remote community. No cities or anything nearby. We would walk all the dogs through the woods every morning and we'd get back in time for breakfast. It was our little routine.
So we had like 4 or 5 dogs with us on the trails one morning, and we were just coming to the end, around a bend towards the road again, when the dogs ahead of us stopped and sniffed and waited for us. As we got up to them, I saw on the right side of the path, about 5 feet into the bush, among the tall grass, was a man.
This man was sat in a low squat, he was in his 20s or 30s, dressed head-to-toe in black, wearing sunglasses. Just.. Sitting there. Not moving. Not reading or doing anything at all. I was creeped right out but as we were passing him (my sister made me walk on the closer side lol yeah I'm the brave one!) and for some reason, I asked, "What are you doing?"
He lifted his head to look at us and muttered, "Waiting for it to get dark."
That was it. He just resumed sitting in silence. Creepiest person EVER. We hadn't even had breakfast yet, this was early, the sun had been up for maybe 3 hours. He was going to squat motionless in the bush for 9 hours? I can still see him in my head. I can hear his voice.
This stuff isn't stuck in my head for no reason. The end of the story will explain it. Awhile later we were talking to the family member who lives up there, and they said someone had broken into the home of a lady in the night, sexually assaulted her, and nearly killed her by beating her while she was home alone with her grandkids.
This lady's house backed up into the woods where we walked the dogs. She was basically the neighbor across the street, just down a little bit, not right across. This is the bush, the houses are not close together, there's some decent space on all sides. Like to get there from the house I stayed in, you'd have to leave the house and walk 3-5 minutes down the road.
I just don't want to give the impression that this lady had close neighbours who could see this, no one even heard it, it wasn't until the next morning that she was found. And I'm not 100% sure but I think it was because the kids left the house to find people when it was safe (btw those poor kids, makes me tear up just thinking about what they had to go through).
Do you need to be told who was arrested for the crime? Apparently people in the community said he was diagnosed with schizophrenia in jail and got on meds. Last I heard he was still locked up. This was quite some time ago.
I felt bad for a long time, like I should've said something more, like we told everyone about the creepy guy and people in the area knew he was creepy, but absolutely no one saw that attack coming. He was just the weirdo who muttered to himself. People didn't get involved in his problems, his family didn't want to admit he was mentally ill or something, so he went untreated for a long time.
This whole "waiting for it to get dark" thing with a soon-to-be convicted rapist and attempted murderer has stuck in my brain though. Still gives me chills.

    • @jademoon7938
      @jademoon7938 Год назад +41

@@cfG21 A bear? Well it depends on where you are. Where I am we only have black bears, so the answer is like, less than 1:1,000,000. We average 1 attack a year in all of Canada from black bears.
If you live where there are grizzlies, the odds are slightly higher, and with polar bears you can increase that number a little more, but all in all, if you're looking to get attacked by a bear you pretty much have to find one and antagonize it in some way. Bears don't hunt humans. It's like the odd one that'll attack a person.
Black bears come into that community I'm talking about occasionally, usually the younger ones, and the people who live there just get wood boards and big pieces of plywood, and sneak up in a semi-circle with the opening facing the woods, and then they just close it, and use the wood to push the bear towards them. I've watched a bear get spanked with a piece of wood and run like the wind in fear back into the forest lol. They aren't very ferocious animals 99% of the time.

I don't have a lot of experience in the woods. I've spent most of my life in the desert. But I spent a year in Connecticut and Massachusetts when I was nine. My aunt's house in Connecticut was near the woods. We'd play in there every day. There was a little stream where you could bend over and pick up fish with your bare hands. We ran and played war and tag through those trees all day long. It never occurred to me to be afraid until one day when I decided to go play in the woods by myself. I stood on the edge, trying to figure out what I was gonna do to have some fun. As soon as I stepped into the trees, an overwhelming sense of dread came down on me so hard and fast that I stepped right back out. I was already a logical thinker then, so I tried to talk myself out of being afraid. It didn't work. I went back to the yard and hung out there for a few hours. We have instincts for a reason. Listen to them. Humans are preprogrammed to fear the woods alone, for a reason. I would never even consider going in at night, alone or not.

I had a similar experience a friend and I used to hike in the dark. We were hiking the Rae Lake loop on the John Muir Trail. We decided to turn off our flashlights and walk the trail with a full moon. About 5miles of walking in the deep forest we see a light about 500 yards away. It was a woman with a candle looking for her campsite. We told her which way we came from but she decided to walk her own trail. 2 days later we came back and my friend sends me an article in the newspaper. Rangers just found a female hiker after being lost for 5days.

I once was walking by myself at night in the riverbed, which is notorious for shady activities, and I heard someone whispering nearby. I look around and see nobody. I continued walking but now I was on high alert, then I hear footsteps behind me and I turn around quickly and see what appeared to be two people quickly dart behind some bushes. I pretend like I didn't see them and kept walking. Once I got to a bend I hid behind a tree and waited for them to walk by. Then I ambushed them and said "why are you following me?" Turns out it was two teenage girls and they screamed at the top of their lungs and began running. Pretty sure one of them crapped their pants because I could smell it as they ran away. Well I guess whatever it was that they wanted and why they were following me I'll never know.

I used to hunt at night in the swamps of the Atchafalaya Basin in Southern Louisiana. I learned the sounds of the swamps, gators bellowing, bullfrogs croaking, on a rare night the Louisiana black panther screaming like a woman or baby. It's pitch black, except for your headlight, you can't see your hands in front of you. But you listen, to everything, every sound, and I really don't give a gator's tail who believes me or not, but there are some sounds you can't identify , and yes, it gets really weird at times. Can't explain it, you have to experience it. Some believe that because of its history, the spirits abound there. What do I think ? Be on the lookout but if you feel a breath on the back of your neck, hear a strange sound you've never heard there before, or a howl...it probably ain't a gator, keep your eyes sraight ahead, don't acknowledge it , don't turn your head to look back, you might see something that you don't really want to see, get out quick as you can, not panicky, and when (if) you make it back home, you'll be so happy you'll even hug and kiss your Mother in law ! 😂😂😂😂😂 Happy Hunting .. 😂😂

There are some woods and fields at the back of my street. Last night I went to meet my friends there for some drinks and good times. Once I walked through the woods and into the fields I phoned them. They weren’t there, they’d gone to the chip shop and told me to meet them there. So there I was, in the middle of endless fields and long woodland, and it was pitch black. The reason I wasn’t scared before that was because I thought my friends where already there, but they weren’t.
I walked back into the woods so I could get out. I turned my phone torch on and started walking. That’s when my pace started to get faster until I ran, non stop to the gates. I swear it was like being in a horror movie. What makes it worse is that those woods are known to be unsafe at night because of crime and that sort of thing. I So I was shitting myself. Plus I’d been watching some skinwalker and Wendigo videos at the time.

I don't go walking around in the woods at night because of animals. And nuts. I was hiking in a local park with a group as a teen. We heard an unspeakable scream. Everyone of us went searching for that scream. We met a ranger who said he was looking for that screams source too. We hunted until it started getting dark, then finally gave up as he said he would call the state troopers. 2 weeks later, a kid was found hog tied to a tree with barbed wire. He had been tortured and raped. I checked with the state troopers. No one ever reported it from the park. It wasn't a ranger. It was the guy who killed that kid. He got 4 before he moved south and went after more kids. I do not hike without several weapons now.

American forest are so strange, there is a lot of weird stories there, but in France you can camp in nature safety as if I admit that I’ve made it alone and it was the first and the last time I did it without anybody else!! To convince me I think it was as when I did it before only with some girlfriends (in term of what security she could bring more than me) but alone I was like if it was me the girlfriend 😆 no special thing to report, but never had quite more than 2 minutes when night came cause there was constantly different noises (I think normals at night in forest but you constantly try to interprete and guess what it could be) and as if I knew this place since my childhood (I was 33) and it sounds secure because of configuration of the place, it was impossible to leave anxiety and find peace to sleep, and finally did it when I was too tired to "resist" between 4 and 5 am. It was in southern french alps, near italian border in a famous national park called "mercantour" where normally there are many beautiful places and where you can spend good time camping with friends or just girlfriend only surrounded by nature
Now, I even don’t go alone in forest at daylight, not because I’m scared but because it’s dangerous, I used to do it because I don’t have too much friends and they not interested in searching wild mushrooms or not free when it’s time for it and I can’t do it several times for few years because of this so after that I decided to do it even if I had to go alone but 2 years ago I realize that it was dangerous cause you can meet wild animals, falling or having an injury, or even get lost without knowing where you have to go back and all this with a great probability to have no signal on your phone operator
Concerning strnge things or simply problems with strange person are when you think you are deep in nature and probably alone but you’re wrong and when it’s a popular place known by everybody or easy for other people to access where you are, even if you can find old constructions deep in forest which could be lived by someone "special"

I had something very similar happen. This woman was hiding in the shadows and we had no idea she was there. There we're about 4 of us about to go on a night walk on the beach, I literally lifted my pistol enough to see the round chamber as I racked the gun. Immediately she cane out of thw shadows and started asking if we had any rice for her phone and that she couldn't find her beach house. She had no phone with her.... She then walked off into the dark. It was very odd.

Me n my friends did this when we're in middle school but always knew there were risk so we will always go with atleast 5 people or more plus everybody had some sort of knife to make sure nothing happened we called ourselves the Risk taskers we explored almost all of our city's forrest any abandon places we could get into but that all change when one night we had one of our friends in the group go missing while in the woods,so we decided to split up 3 groups of 2 and look for him as time went we eventually found him but some of us notice something strange about him yet we didn't ask because oh him being alone lost in the woods by himself. Anyways a month go by and we notice he wasn't himself like he was a complete different person everytime we ask him to hang out or go explore he had this weird yet evil look on his face as if he didn't know us anymore. So we decide to go out again to the same woods to see what could we find that could make our friend feel like that at this time we ask some other kids to come along newer kids that we never hang around but they seemed to like being out at night and we're down to come along. Anyways about 1hr a half goes by we came across this abandoned shack in the forest that we never seen before because we always gone to this area to explore so we checked it out, hanging around telling stories about what were going to be when we grow up then that's when we heard it a lady scream but not loud but loud enough to were everybody in our group heard it we all looked at each other's thinking it's probably the wind then we heard humming like it stared low but as time went by all it made us think there was no wind around this time at night. So we decided to call it a night while walking back to our bikes we felt like something was watching us and it was weird because as we were looking everywhere we notice a person walking back into the forest we had left that made us think was he watching us this whole time. Anyways we took a brake from going into the forest at night but summer brake came around again and we all had the need to go back and explore again as we did 1 night we all experience something that would change our lives and what we saw will forever haunt us. What we saw was something out of a movie because it couldn't have been real we saw what looked like our friend that have been lost in these woods with four others people a Father n mother and two kids and they had these weird markings on their faces like they been attack by something so we were very concerned on why would he be out here with these people at this time of night. Anyways summer brake was almost over and we have heard news that our friend was missing the one we probably saw in those forrests with those people and that got us thinking like what if he had been possessed that first time he got lost and by us seeing him with them makes us wonder if we're next because everyone who explored that night have been having these nightmares of someone telling them to follow them back into those woods.

A couple years ago (I was like 14) me and some friends decided to hike to the top of a mountain for cell service at around midnight. Miles from any other people. We’re all from West Virginia and have been told not to go into the woods at night. A massive snow storm had just passed. We made it to the top. Tried to start a fire but all the wood was obviously soaked. So we start getting mad at eachother bc we’re freezing and not getting service, we’re arguing for maybe 10 minutes when roughly 50 feet away from us in the tree line we hear a female voice scream followed by a calm “help me”. We said nothing and essentially threw ourselves down the mountain back to the house. We all slept in the same room that night and barely talked about it since. I have chills and tears in my eyes from even typing it and remembering. Stay out of the woods at night dude👍🏻

So I know this is a late comment. But I have a story.
In 2007 a girl woke up every night and told her parents that there was someone outside the window. Her mother told her it's just a bad dream. And to go back to sleep. 1 weeks later the parents wake up to a man that had thrown a rock into the girls window. After calling the police, they searched the area for a whole day before finding the man. When the girl was asked if he was the one who had thrown the rock, she said 'Yes, and that's the man from every night'. The man had stood outside the window every night before attempting to rob the house.
    That girl was my sister...
    EDIT: she was 5years old
