Thanks for this great video as I would have never thought of the importance of using OEM body mount bolts. I have an 07 Ram 1500. I purchased new after market running board/nerf bars (whatever they are called). The instructions seemed incomplete because at the end, I ended up with (At least what I think I figured out) 3 M12 Lock washers which were not listed in the installation manual.
So to explain, part of the instructions were to not re-use the old body mount bolts on older trucks because of the rust and corrosion they likely had, which was the case with mine. Not only that, they were so grimed with dried grease, I had to hammer off the metal body mount washers from the old bolts which was not a fun task. Instructions also stated to use their provided body mount bolts, which after watching your video, saw they did not have the colored thread lock on the bolts.
So going back, there were multiple M10 Lock washers for securing bolts on the other smaller part to connect the rails. At the end, of installation, I found I now have one M10 Lock Washer, but then realized I had 3 of what It then figured out to be three M12 Lock Washers (also not listed in the manual). I might have accidentally used one of the M12 Lock Washers in place of an M10 bolt on the either the rocker panel or the running board brackets. Its was at that point I saw that the the M12 lock washer fit perfect through the actual body Mount Bolts provided, which I did not use because the instructions did not provide as such.
    So questions are:
    1) Do I redo this and use the M12 Washer bolts with the provided body mount bolts or..
    2) Do I order new OEM Body Mount Bolts from Dodge?
Or maybe a combination of both being OEM Body Mount Bolts from Dodge AND use the provided M12 Lock Washers?
Thanks for any help you can provide.

Can't go wrong with new factory hardware, it's usually better quality.

@@AnthonyJ350 Thanks for replying. But how about the M12 Lock Washers? Since the OEM that were on there did not have such, is it not necessary. Again, thanks for replying

@@tommytP2000 probably need to use them to help distribute the weight of the side steps now.

I would imagine torquing to spec would be extra important here because it seems like it would be easy to over torque a squish the bushings.

Okay so I didn’t take your advice and I threaded a bolt too tight and it broke. Any tips to get the bolt out?

    What's the torque spec?

You'll have to consult your service manual.

if it was my truck..... I would have taken the first bolt out and realized they are fine and NOT removed any other bolts.
And if you are getting stretch on those bolts, they are installed way too tight......use a torque wrench and torque to spec.
