    Hundreds of miles from the next inhabited island, and with only 2 rangers living there to guard the nature reserve, Suwarrow is the most remote location we have sailed to so far. On the way there we swim in the middle of the ocean. Then we explore the delights of Suwarrow, 30 year old massive coconut crabs, majestic manta rays and almost tame boobies.

    I TOTALLY LOVE how you mentioned my idol Bernard Moitessier. I have all his books and read them all.... Lots. I too have been to your enchanted Island in 2011 during a "blue moon". We were a little gutted that a record 23 yachts were anchored as well.... But the party was... One in a BLUE MOON. x

    Hi folks. I'm in the middle of binge watching. I have Tom's book. I got it just after it was released. Sadly he died at 77 I believe of complications of skin cancer. Unfortunately he was accused of squatting by the Cook Islanders. The problem for them was at the time, the island was governed by Nz. Not Cook Islands government. As they weren't self governed at the time. Great episode, and thank you for sharing. Take care.

    I saw a manta in St Helena once but by the time I'd grabbed my mask and jumped in off the boat it was gone. That one seemed in no hurry to disappear. It's a privilege to see them.

    Ha Ha. You do the same as me! I always leave a floating line out when swimming off the boat, I case I find I can't make it back agsinst the current. I though I was the only one.

    We much-prefer these real-life sailing adventures to some of the "foofoo" vids that we see on RUclips. It is most enjoyable to see how life aboard really is, as opposed to some fantasy of how things are. Goodonya!

I hope one day you get to visit our back yard - the magnificent Great Barrier Reef. Your reef-hopping experience will see you well! You are a delightful couple. N‘joy ⛵️

    To Ghita - D. Attenborough is an ideologicaly oriented guy who thinks he has discovered all mysteries of the world.
    While Amy and Tom are honest in their presentation and more gifted reporters.

    • @SailingYachtFlorence
      @SailingYachtFlorence  6 лет назад +1

      Thanks. Generally the weather on passage has been pleasant to this point, but then we are always careful to pick a good weather window for a passage. Apart from Panama to The Marquesas, all the passages are short enough that you can get a reasonable weather forecast to cover them.

    New subscriber and I am loving your great video's. I have yet to catch your names or where you are from but I'm guessing Australia! I noticed that those ray's didn't have the usual bunch of remora hanging all over them! So happy to see all of your fellow cruisers gathering for the beach dinner. It must be wonderful to meet new people with the same lust for sailing!

    • @SailingYachtFlorence
      @SailingYachtFlorence  5 лет назад +2

      Hi Robert, There is a wealth of information available online, (noonsite, cruisers forums and government websites) and also in pilot books. We spend a massive amount of time researching the rules and regulations for where we go to ensure we comply. We also research online about safety for the areas we plan to visit, if it looks dodgy then we change our plans.

      Michael S one is a courtesy flag of the country you’re about to visit and the second is a yellow quarantine flag you must show,it says you haven’t cleared customs or registered in the country. You take the yellow one down after you clear customs and sign in

    All that rough water in the lagoon is it caused by wind fetch or do the waves crash over the fringing reef surrounding the lagoon?

      Stephen, I believe it's an Oyster 37s.

    • @SailingYachtFlorence
      @SailingYachtFlorence  6 лет назад

      Hi Stephen, The sails were one season old when we bought Florence, they are holding up really well, no complaints. We have just had to deal with a couple of small wear points but the stitching is all still good, not bad for 20K ocean miles. Oceandrew is correct, Florence is an Oyster Heritage 37. M&A
