  • Using Ninjutsu striking skills and exercises inspired by classical kata in self-defense applications.
This video shows some of the exercises that we do as a dojo when we practice a taijutsu kata called "Ko-Yoku", from the Koto Ryu Koppo-Jutsu school.
These clips came from a session that I taught at last year's Mountain Quest, a To-Shin Do Seminar that takes place in the mountains of North Carolina, hosted by Chapel Hill Quest Martial Arts (my dojo in Chapel Hill, NC). For CHQMA-specific clips, you can follow them on RUclips as well.

Really love doing the shoulder tap and forehead tap drills! They bring in some stress and speed to help us safely assess our skills and highlight what needs more work.

I am mainly a Jūjutsu main. But Taijutsu is effective.

I really like how the opponent's uncontrolled momentum has them crashing into the counters. It is as if they are unintentionally running into the strikes at the worst possible time.

Thank you for watching! That is the "thing" we are looking for, trying to truly let the opponent power the technique

That looked like a lot of fun! Looks like a good drill to work on defensive movement and offensive awareness. Thanks for sharing!

I love the accelerated kazushi that posting gave the ganseki nage. It allows you to be off on your timing a little. If you did it without the post, it would have to be near perfect timing to catch the energy still moving forward. Awesome job.

Thank you! I need all the help I can get, and the post slows it down just right for me!
