you can also use used coffee grounds instead of rice. make a thick slurry with tap water and just shake until clean. make sure to thoroughlt clean, dry and blow it with compressed air afterwards. beach sand is also a good option but will likely put a haze on the plastic if its too transparent
To get muck out of any tank put your solvent in then a portion of fine gravel. Then shake and agitate for a sufficient period of time. This will blast away all traces of mess or gunge. Simples!
I guess I'm in luck since it's only $23 for a brand new bottle for my car and honestly even if I could find something cheap to clean it would it be worth the trouble vs just buying a brand new one?
@@dennisjump8655 Yea I tried during a thorough coolant flush since this comment. An amazing amount of nastiness came out, and it's still so stained I can't see where the coolant is. I'll buy a new one eventually.
7 WHAT???? all you need is a small cup of it; Hydrocloric acid(also called MURIATIC acid) eats right thru the brown stuff; it eats the plastic too; KEEP EYES ON IT!! have water nearby, it is dangerous
with the prices of petrol at such heights, it's a shame to see it been used to clean a plastic container 🙂. Possibly you could have traveled 50kms with it... But then again it's a V6 Turbo, so money well spent.
just buy a new one its not expensive. the whole point of the container is for it to be see through so you can see where the coolant level is. the chemical treatments have made it more opaque.
@@arcgarage ahh I see, it's over $100. I think a mechanical solution to cleaning would be better. Perhaps those ikea diswashing brushes, heat up the sticks and bend them so you have ones like horshoe, and others that are slightly less bent to get to all the crevices

Rice works really well. You need to shake it really good and then all the debris coming off.
This dirt was too much for the rice...

Same here. $30 bucks for mine. You will never get the old tank to look 'new'. A waste of time.

It should be possible technically with that acid and uv light or something, saw it before literally transform yellowed plastics
No, that's hydrogen peroxide...
did you add coolant after all that?
Svaka cast ARC ... 🤟
Hvala, pozz
Great video. Can you please do one on diesel fuel injectors (maintenance and replacement)?
Thanks, will try to cover it...
In all my 30+ years of being a master automotive tech, I never once heard of a heater matrix. It’s called a heater core!!
You got the jizz tho like everyone else. Thats what matters most.
It doesnt take 30 years of experience in teaching english also.
In UK we often call it a matrix.
@@Mike_Ockiner yeah well you people are strange anyway! Lmao
@@871jamie LOL. Says a man from a country that only has plastic cheese. XD
@@Mike_Ockiner that’s not true. Bye now.
Why did it change colour in the first place got the same issue
Somebody put radiator stop leak when there was an issue with heater matrix
I have done this before using 7 liters of clorhidric acid (Salfuman is the name in Spain) 24 hours and my bottle is as new mate..
Thanks. I will buy some

I would have used fine gravel/sand instead of rice..
I was thinking about that, but I was afraid I wouldn't be able to get all of it out...
Or course salt?
i would try concentrated hydrogen peroxide

This one is quite rare, hard to get, and costs more than you expect

yes bleach work as well or fine gravel and soapy water do the trick as well
Ocat i soda bikarbona?
Nisam siguran da bi pomoglo...
New bottle is like 40 bucks on Amazon smh
It's not though
Those tanks are cheap so you better buy a new one instead of wasting water and chemicals. And the result isnt like new.
Imho
Not for Alfa 166, these are over 100E with shipping and I had to wait for it for 2 weeks
