Just been cleaning one of mine today. Fairy liquid and engine degreaser and a lot of shaking got a lot of gunk out, but it was still stained. I then poured lots of sugar (no water) in there and gave it a good shake, and it got most of the stubborn stuff off!. Then rinced it. 😎 I've also now left it with some coke overnight as I know it works over night on rusty/dirty penny's. Will see if it's helped at all on the remaining stains in the morning.
Good result. Putting in some small gravel (aquarium gravel or equivalent) and giving it a good shake can help loosen up the stubborn debris BUT only on single-skin coolant expansion tanks. Some coolant tanks (such as on Peugeot 206 etc) have a double wall and cleaning them and getting the stones out afterwards is somewhat challenging.
Great video. I have been unable to clean the inside of the tank on my Kawasaki to my satisfaction and will give this a go. One observation I made: The green pad you used on the exterior has a tendency to scratch plastic. I suggest trying the blue Scotch-Brite non-scratch sponges (that may be found at the grocer's, alongside dishwashing products). I think the blue pads are made from a recycled plastic material, so they don't tend to scratch softer materials while still being very effective.
A lot of the residue is lime left from using tap water. I've used CLR or other lime remover products. Vinegar is too weak of an acid so it gets neutralized quickly and would take many applications. Don't use these products in your radiator as they will eat up the core whether aluminum or copper. Always use distilled water if mixing coolant.
The comparison may be skewed by the fact that heat (in this case, boiling hot water) was only used for one of the tests. I wonder how effective some of the other tests might have been, if they were using boiling hot liquids.
I would avoid the harsh chemicals, sometimes these will compromise the integrity of the plastic and decrease the life span of the tank leading to cracks and leaks.
I really appreciate how you attempted everything and recorded this process thank you.
Tried a few things like you but found carb cleaner works pretty well
I've been using this method for a few years now and it's absolutely perfect! Thanks for making it a video to show everyone! Good job!
Washing liquid + Bleach + hot water I would have never guessed this in a million yrs. Thanks

Rather than rice use a flat link chain as on sink plugs and swish that around to get the hard to reach area

Filled mine with gasoline and gave a it a good long shake. That got every bit of rusty and greasy residue.
gas and rice or only gas? (asking cuz rice scrubs the inside when shook haha)
What’s the cleaning process like after?
Much better rough sand, water ,soap cover it with unlimited shake shake 😊😊
Brilliant thx u just saved money. I know I sound a Scotsman. Yet the vid helps loads. Thx mate.🎉

I'd like to know what else gets put down that sink...lol
I put course sand or tiny pebbles inside and shake well with bleach and dish soap
THNKS YOU VERY MUCH
Rice in the drain leads to clogs. Good job cleaning the tank. Im going to try this.
How has this tank held up? Did the bleach do anything to the structure of the plastic or the seam?
Hi, all good at the mo.
Thank you for this video
I put stainless steel tumbling media and tumble it in a cement mixer
I used coconuts in a balloon
You certainly don’t give up but you got there in the end 👏👏👏 think I would have and brought a new one.
I was wondering what his wife thought about him doing this in the sink .
Good job,, i just bought a new one for 2008 super duty.
sea sand, salt, water and shake it .... the sand will go all over the tank and scratch and clean the dirt the salt will harden the water
This inspired me to try oxyclean spray and it worked so fucking good with a toothbrush to scrub it.
Someone use bleach and kitty litter, swooshed it around for a bit, then rinsed. Did a brilliant job at cleaning it.

Sulphamic (Sulfamic) acid.
I thought the white vinegar was going to work as it does on rusty metal but no!
So bleach is the best?
I buy new one too much hassle. I’m lazy guy!!!😂
Please let me also know what was te outcome
I did in the video
@@dadskillzcarsso what was the outcome?
deniz kumu ve lavabo tıkanıklıgını açan toz ve sıcak su kullanın anında temizler
Just use some hydrochloric acid or sulfuric acid.
Petrol and Rice is the best
After 5 hours of cleaning and the entire cleaning cupboard empty plus a drink of coke it’s still dirty 😝
That all rust comes from home water so all of us fill the thank up whit distilled water and no rust anymore
So to US translate.....Dawn, liquid Clorox bleach, boiling water, and rice in some proportion?
Right
Hahaha Thanks
Next time, use sulfamic acid. Works wonders.
Yeah, I was wondering when you'd get around to the bleach.
Why didn't you just order it from China!?
😂😂😂😂
Pepsi, not Coke! 😂
I use bleach or petrol best
Citric acid....
Rice water bleach
Try coke
I did, it didn’t work
