I like how they didn't just call it Dungeon of the Endless 2. That would have been too confusing for me.
To be fair, "Endless Dungeon" is a better title and fits with the "Endless X" tradition of the games. Also, changing the title is a good way of emphasizing the fact that the game is switching genres. This is a game for a different audience and I totally expect people who liked the previous gameplay not liking this game's gameplay and vice-versa. Not naming it sequentially makes sense in that regard too.
I think they said this isn't Dungeon of the Endless 2, and that might come in the future. Which is awesome news! More Endless the better.

Thankfully it's Not dungeon of the endless 2. As someone who put hundreds of hours into the first game, after a few hours in this beta I wasn't a big fan. It's not a bad game but it's very different. Thankfully the title Dungeon of the Endless 2 is still open in case they do decide to make an actual sequel.

I played the previous iteration. It opened my eyes to roguelikes tbh, long before Synthetik came along and truly made me appreciate small indie titles. It seems like the Indy scene is where the gamer energy is at, other than the occasional flare of brilliance in the AAA scene like Doom Eternal.
My favorite thing about the previous game was if anyone missed the elevator, you lost them for the next level. Great game of perma-rogue resource mayhem, can’t wait for this one to release!

I would take just playing with friends I trust over a crappy anti cheat that provides no benefit.
This looks like such a fun co-op game, feels like I've been waiting for this for a couple of years already. Looks very similar to the announcement trailer, hopefully it's soon here. Just please please have local co-op

This makes me want to play more Dungeon of the Endless while I wait for this.
There's a really fun challenge in juggling between exploring and creating an efficient path, at the same time as managing resources for the current level vs the next. Plus guns and enemy waves look cool.
I thought bug infested meant it crashed a lot.
Loved dungeon on the endless, hope this is just as good. Will see how it is at launch.
The original was extremely fun, surprised that they made it real time but they likely can do it correctly. I really really hope there is a ton of characters and unlocks like the original. The progression was quite fun and enjoyable with the different ships and characters having extremely different play styles.

Love love love the Endless series I funded the first one before it even got made and got every other Endless game early because their ideas, music and art have always charmed me. I was so disappointed when they made Humankind but I really hope they do well on this and keep making more Endless games as they could do so much with it and are some of my fav games of all time.

The art style, including for the UI, looks incredible. Honestly everything seems really fine-tuned with a serious attention to detail. Suggests actual care being put into their product, and I'm someone who is terribly critical about what many people might brush off as minor details or non-issues.
Endless is one of my all-time-favourite universes, with it's FIDS resource system, rich lore about the Schism of Virtuals and Concretes, different and unique factions and always very exciting gameplay whatever the game genre.

I'm definitely interested in this game but I liked Dungeon of the Endless for it's basically one-handed, casual game-play with real strategy mixed in.
Yeah this game is nothing like the original. It's very action oriented in the sense that waves spawn at random so there's no down time, and enemies focus everything like the turrets and generators so you're constantly running around protecting things and repairing things cause everything will just break if left alone for more than few seconds. It doesn't have any of that tower defense strategy game charm that the first one executed so well. It's all about frantically running around and shooting things. Which is fine I guess I enjoy a good action game but personally I didn't find the combat here all that satisfying to make up for everything that's gone. I didn't feel like running around killing things was fun and addicting like other action games it felt more like a chore. I think the developers strayed off path from what they're used to and it shows.
Like the older version, but this looks even more inviting. Gotta try it.

Seems like a less complex version of the first game, powering rooms up and down with dust was the key element about the last game
Yeah I think I see an icon for dust, but don't see it implemented in any way.
In the first game lack of dust to power rooms was a killer especially at higher difficulties. You really had to be careful and also get lucky getting items that might give extra dust for killing monsters or move the merchant to a nice safe room where he would generate dust every time you opened a door. I loved that extra management layer to the game; I really hope this sequel has it too.

Probably won't pick the game up unless they improve upon it greatly, they could have easily kept it mechanically identical to DotE with the new combat and it would have been fantastic
@@johnf4085 If you mean the dust icon under the medkits, having played beta I can say it's still used to power up dark rooms, it's just not super common

This game have a bit of Spacehulk Deathwing vibes. I think I'll give it a look. I wish the bugs were more numerous and swarmy though.

I liked the first game, this one looks like it could be fine but has me worried. The multiplayer aspect might be a balancing nightmare. I would hate to have to play multiplayer because they built for that instead of single player.
Yeah as someone who has hundreds of hours in dungeon of the endless, when I played this beta I was pretty off put by the fact that it's drastically different than the original especially in terms of solo gameplay. There's no way to move the other characters around without switching to them and manually moving them one at a time. Combined with random waves instead of on door opens makes it quite the headache already. Add in that generators are much more exposed now and get focused by everything along with the layout of the rooms also means that the enemies spread out across larger rooms and go after all the machines which just makes not being able to manage AI teammates in any quick and effective way that much more annoying. Playing online with rando's made things much easier but it just didn't have that same charm the original had. Felt more like a chore than the addicting ups and downs from the first game. From what I played so far it really feels like a "fun with your friends" type game with online co op possible for more hardcore players while solo isn't really playable. Shame really.

looks good an seems to be faitful to lots of the mechanics that made the first so fun. only problem with the first was that it was hard to convince my friends to buy it and play with me. Hopefully this better graphics twin stick shooter style helps convince them to give it a shot.

Well like you always say just add a toggle! Only Party leader/first character can open doors.
if you could deconstruct turrets for resources then you'd be pressured to salvage everything before moving on, which would be a huge pain, so makes a lot of gameplay sense to not allow it
